Used to see him all the time with NGNG tags and PGI badge in game... granted that changed in the past few months...

He changed his tags so that he could drop with other units in FW. PGI (dev) tags keep you from being able to do that.

Since MW3 came out in 1999. Has anybody played it on a PC that had the specs of that era. I'm not talking about one built today but with that era CPU, memory, HDD. Also I don't think that we had very much highspeed internet back then too.

Posted Image Jack Shayu Walker quoted:
Also for the life of me i can't find the game anywhere, i want to play it again too, but my computer runs on windows seven and I can't find an emulator or even a game file that works.
Jack:
Amazon has MW3 on their site for around $10.
Both used and New copies.
Just do an online search for MW3.

Didn't MW3 have notoriously bad hit reg because of latency?

Ohhhh yes. Then again I was playing on dial-up at the time, but I distinctly remember having to lead my targets by a significant distance.

Yeah:
Nothing like playing a game where you have to be thinking about 30 seconds ahead and aiming for when the enemy gets there. I remember playing lots of games only to get killed over and over again because of latency didn't register my moves or blocks until after the other player had completed his. Going for the head shot and keep hitting the fire button but nothing happens when 'Bang' you're dead and finally your weapon goes off. That was some of the good old days of gaming.
Take care everyone.
MAD IIC Day is almost here.
Holly Jolly Christmas.

do still wish we could have had a variant with one uber barrel weapon poking over each shoulder, like a giant triceratops mecha

So no quirks then?

I am guessing the boring quirks like acceleration etc will be active but hidden. But Weapon quirks = nada.

I really look forward to this coming out for C-Bills. The ECM variant looks really promising without being too great.

Lol i go to sleep and missed all the action.

@Marack

I was going to write a big long post to point out the things that have improved, but then I realized it doeasn't matter and there is no point arguing with you. Hope you find a game one day that has no bugs, balances disparate power sets perfectly, is connected to a deep lore-base (even tangentially), and oh yes, is free.

Clearly at this point no matter what PGI does you will not be happy, so have fun doing something else.

No quirks save for a single missile quirk for one variant, per the patch notes.

Quote

The only MAD-IIC variant with any Quirks applied is the MAD-IIC-8, which possesses a solitary Missile Cooldown Quirk of 15%. In light of its 7 Energy Hardpoints, that single Missile Hardpoint in the RT is unlikely to see much significant use. However, we wanted to provide this variant with a slight boost to its Missile Cooldown for those players who want to utilize that Missile Hardpoint into their MAD-IIC-8 Loadouts.

Also there is an easy way to balance this game. Return everything to TT standards. The end. If people don't like it they can take it up with Jordon Weisman.

You.. you don't mean.. Jordan Weisman? The creator of the Battletech Tabletop game?! The guy who is currently making a tabletop(ish) Battletech game RIGHT NOW?!

Whose game has changed various tried-and-true Tabletop mechanics such as Turn Order, initiative, missile hit mechanics, PSRs, movement, and is adding a hardpoint system to the MechLab, because different mediums require different kinds of rules and such to be perceived as fun?!

THE Jordan Weisman?

Oh, I get it, you're one of those guys that thinks TT ports easily/perfectly to a real time FPS. That explains alot.

I loved a lot of the BT stuff, but seriously TT has some gaping holes when it came to logic.

- Because you know, an atlas has *exactly* the same amount of internal space as a locust...

- "turns" in TT equated to roughly 10 seconds, which leaves so much up to interpretation for a real-time game implementation, of course there will be differences in opinion.

- You fire an ballistic round/energy weapon and if it hits one meter past its max... *poof* no damage. (most people never got into the advanced rules that provided max ranges).

- Movement on TT -> real time? (see 10 second issue above)

- Clans were nerfed in MWO because, last I checked there was no way to force players to play like a clanner, which ultimately is how the IS pushed them back, not superior tech but exploiting their honor code. So that's why they had to be nerfed. Would love to find the reference, but I recall there being an admission by FASA (or someone at FASA) that they conceded that clan tech was OP when released and it even screwed up TT for a bit.

So level with us, you are mad because you wanted a Mechwarrior game to be a Battletech game, and you don't see a difference when in reality there is and needs to be.

Nope, just one of those guys that aparently doesn't have your "high standards" or high expations for a f2p game that I like. I just tire of the people full of rage and nothing constructive. NOTHING.

If I felt as passionately as you do, I wouldn't be wasting my time on these forums or this game unless an ulterior motive existed.

Well I am not you and you want to know my motive? My motive is I want the game I was promised 5 years ago.

And "f2p"... yeah its only Free if you want to play bare bones, not color your mech, nor have decals, hero mechs, etc. Otherwise it will cost you an arm and a leg because you know.... 120 dollars for 4 mechs is totally reasonable... or 500 dollars for a really ****** gold painted one.

Also at least I am bringing up points in this conversation. You are just putting words in my mouth and creating strawman arguments to dismiss me. I.e. you have added nothing.

2014 called, it wants its pricing plans back.

Buy a $20 mechpack and chill out bro.

And I did bring up points that you dismissed summarily... btw way, I wasn't comparing locust and atlas weights, but what you can fit inside them based on TT rules.

I highly doubt that you will get the game you feel you were promised, and I'm sorry for that. This is why I am saying if you don't like whats happening here, why hang around? Go find something that will make you happy.

I have a saying I have lived by my whole life: don't make promises you can't or won't fulfill.

Never get into sales if that's your motto. Posted Image

Its not a bad motto, I'm not trying to be snarky, I've just been part of enough large scale projects to know that sometimes things don't work out to plan. Fact is, the only way they would have been able to deliver everything they've promised is to have actually already developed the entire game before even promising a thing. That wasn't their model, I don't even know if that was an option...

I get that they have under-delivered and by some assessments *vastly* under-delivered, I guess I'm just so jaded to the industry (I'm in software myself) that I basically would never expect things to come off the way it was promised, or even more dangerous, assume that my idea of how something should be implemented is how it will be implemented.

And the computer booting analogy is a little interesting as booting the computer is a means to an end, just like firing up MWO... If the final result is worth it, you'll boot up right? If not, they why?

I think we have another hour before servers go down for maintenance and patch is usually 1.5 hours or so after that

You also believe what politicians tell you right?
People who want your money (or your vote) always tell you cool stuff and then dont fulfill it.

It would all depend on what you find worth it. I find analyzing and examining games to be worth it.

And I say, if they couldn't have delivered all they promised, then they shouldn't have promised so much. If they hadn't made all these promises then I wouldn't be so hard on them. But when they say they will do something, I will hold them to their own words.

I guess at this point my only question is who to hold accountable for said promises? My understanding is that at some point another entity IGP was more or less running the show and PGI was a partner and eventually took over. I was also under the impression that things have in at least some ways improved since that point.

I only came on shortly before they announced Clan Wave I so I don't know the full sordid history, but if that is the case, how do you distinguish blame, credit, responsibility?
