As long as someone doesn't own too much of the mentioned things above, the pre-order bonuses make the standard pack very interesting, imho...

that variant is 10 damage away from the AS7-S's AC20 and 4 SRM6A's.

If you can only ever embrace the meta, then this isn't the mech for you. If you can make other mechs work, then it is a lot of fun.
I scored 600dmg in an unmastered reaver yesterday, that mech is pretty badass.
Still trying to find a comfortable build for the 1A. The 1B i havent touched yet and the 1C with the build linked above is really the only way to go on that mech.

Not meta by any stretch, but fun.
For me the 3A looks the most dull. Oh look, another meta laser boat, exciting.....

Who needs some fancy Omni Mech or Kodiak when you have an Industrial Mech retrofitted for combat. That's like, the most raddest thing ever. (Well, except for retrofitted agriculture mechs)
I'd bought it if they had diesel sound in the cockpit and whistling from the turbo, like in lore.

For the other two variants from the standard pack I didn't figure out a good build yet.
RGH-3A also is a nice laser vomitter but it's behind another paywall...
However, I think that with the introduction of the new tech, that all Roughneck variants will heavily profit by it and in case that the current quirks should remain they simply will become awesome mechs, especially brawly...

Its not worth buying if you just want to use it like every other pilot that wont use anything outside laser vomit or PPFLD sniping.

Symetrical, cockpit-level torso energy mounts mean you can do what the other energy boaters do, but safer. It's pretty much custom designed to add another ERLL Battlemaster to your dropdeck when you are out of tonnage for another ERLL Battlemaster.

edit: it can be good, but once in a while, can't rely on srm on everyday basis

400 meters per second is a low flight speed ?

Some pretty heady individuals throwing about their expert, veteran edged opinions.
Then take that viewpoint and apply it to any subject and viewpoint presented henceforth.
So far on the hero, I've run anything from 4 ml, 2 UAC5 (chassis made for it), Guass-ERppc and 3 ML, to the k-2 esque, 2 ERPPC 2 ML, 2 machine guns. Having lots of fun trying various builds, and it has nice flexibility for bouncing between XLs and STD engines and maintaining some firepower.

I don't even notice the STD260 engine - just press W and don't stop. The 20% ballistic cooldown + AC5 cooldown module makes it feel like the old Dragon 1N.

I have had a lot of fun running around with all kinds of different experimental builds on the Reaver alone. I have enjoyed 4 LPL,2 machine guns the most on that chassis, but I also had fun running running 2 UAC5 and 4 ML. I watched Sean Lang run 2 ppc and gauss on the reaver (not my cup of tea but meta is going to meta). I also tried running the other variants but I am still trying to figure out what loadouts I like on them. The 1A(S) i played around with running 2 LB10X, 1 ML and SRM6, I like it (I run a cyclops in a similar loadout) but I feel like I need to make some slight change to it to get it into the groove. Havent played enough of the other chassis to really decide what I want because they need more games and customizing. But so far I really like the Reaver and 1A.
I cant decide whether I like running XL on the chassis. it free's up a lot of weight and gives you good speed, but the mech dies so fast to meta builds. But on the other hand standard engines take up nearly 1/3rd of the tonnage of the mech, and armor takes up nearly another 1/3rd. I think its a mech that will really see some love when Light engines come out.

1B has turned out to be my favorite. 2 LBX 10, 3 SRM 4s, a so, with an XL engine.

Its too early to tell for me though. I'll be back later to give a full opinion. I gotta master em and do at least 30 drops fully mastered before I can give an honest appraisal.
