A while back I built this little monster...
It was a real murder machine for it's size... it took a stupid amount of punishment before it would go down.

I voted it because I personally like the look of the Annihilator, even though I have no nostalgic ties to Mechwarrior 3 nor any other games it was featured in. I don't know why but it reminds me of some kind of giant ancient egyptian god like Ra. Would be a cool skin theme for it IMO if PGI could pull it off.
What honestly surprised me is that the Mad Cat Mk.2 tied with the Rifleman IIC for a bit in the polls. I'm glad to see that people want decent clan battlemechs in the game besides personal nostalgic value.
So you voted for looks and then comment about adding quality mechs over nostalgia...

Well to be fair, if PGI were to grace the Annihilator with a little bit extra engine cap, up to a 300, some pretty devastating builds would be possible, including 4 AC10s or 3 AC10s and 2 PPCs, or potentially even dual ppc quad UAC5. That would certainly be a valuable addition to the IS assault lineup.

It would still have some of the worst hitboxes though with its Godzilla/Giraffe crane of a neck/head.

What about this artwork? It takes off the neck but maintains the look.

The Annihilator without the neck is no Annihilator at all. Get out of here with that garbage.

It's like getting rid of the Atlas skull, or moving the Summoner cockpit to the CT like in the Battletech cartoon. It ain't right.
I just thought that neck looked a little cartoony tbh... kind of like how they moved the cockpit position on the Wolfhound for instance. Its a minor change that doesn't really take away from the spirit of the mech... but that's just my opinion. The Summoner cockpit is a much more ridiculous change in my opinion.

I agree, I actually like that revamp a lot, if anything it makes it look more menacing; though it doesn't have to be THAT shrunk into the torso, there could be some sort of extension.

I'm with RestosIII on this one. An Annihilator without a giraffe neck simply isn't an Annihilator.

Out of 186 participants
IS side would get
-Annihilator (85) [Assault]
-Stinger &/or Wasp (77) [Light]
-Crusader (70) [Heavy]
-Nightstar (57) [Assault]
-Uziel (55) [Medium]
-Sunder (47)* [Assault]
-Longbow (46)* [Assault]
Clan side would get
-Firemoth (94) [Light]
-Mad Cat Mk II (70) [Assault]
-Nova Cat (68) [Heavy]
-Warhammer IIC (68) [Assault]
-Rifleman IIC or Locust IIC (67 tie) [Heavy/Light]
-Stone Rhino (52)* [Assault]
-Cougar (39)* [Light]
I would definitely call that a good year for Clans with a nice mix of everything (besides mediums). IS wouldn't fare to bad, although a bit heavy sided with quite a few assaults.

Stinger+Wasp -- though I'll admit to promoting these because I want, in general, to see Alex Iglesias reworks and PGI models for these. They'd be incredibly important for merc campaigns in both HBS BT and MW5M, so my wish is that the PGI art guys do them.
Another light, selected purely based on in-game effectiveness. Javelin? Maybe Hermes? (30 tonner with huge engine cap, 6+ energy hardpoints + MASC in the Royal version). Let the meta lords decide which one.
Crusader -- unashamed nostalgia here.
Longbow -- I think it's cool, and the Tier 5 lurm boys will love it.
I agree IS mediums should probably take a back seat. Unless Russ backtracks and has PGI do the quad code, in which case I'd like to see the Scorpion.
No real opinion on the clan stuff, whatever makes the clan guys happy.

I've heard enough about the Hermes, it is definitely my number 1 IS light mech desire.
