Mad Cat MK3 over that junker. Efficient 55 ton Medium battlemech vs inefficient 90 ton Assault Battlemech? I think I'd want the Medium thanks.

Inefficient? You do realize it has just over 40 tons of free pod space, an XL 360 (it'd be farly agile), ECM and JJs on omni pods rather than on specific variants, high mounted ballistics, and CT hardpoints on multiple variants?

He stated "Battlemech" referring to the MadCat II.

You can't underestimate the edge ECM gives. Here in this pic, the other team wouldn't shoot at me in my Hellbringer per not knowing where I was already shot. I farmed them all match as a result. Can't remember if my armor was 100% at the end but I have had those in ECM mechs while doing big damage. Blood Asp has massive edge over MadCat II.

I prefer Gauss in arms, safer for them safer for me. Take your Torso mounted Gauss sure, but dont QQ when it goes poof with half your mech.

Showing a PUG drop where you farmed potatoes doesn't mean ECM makes a mech that much more powerful especially in the age of the Kodiak where poptarting is more important than ECM. There is a reason the Hellbringer fell off in usage since the rebalance.

Don't get me wrong it can help, but not as much as some people think especially when dealing with actually coordinated units.

Use the energy STs if you are having problems going poof.

Better not be at the front because torso twisting will get them popped fast on MadCat II. Way easier to poptart with them above cockpit than below you in your arms, see the Executioner for how that will go for you. Weak Assault JJs will make it hard to clear arms above ridgeline. Blood Asp A variant has 3 JJs if you must poptart. Blood Asp can skimp on arm armor for even more podspace tonnage similar to how ACH 2 ER LLas works.

LOL, nothing can save you from a coordinated premade steamroll which there actually aren't very many of in Faction Warfare.

Those are tier 1-3 potatoes, so those are the best pub queue potatoes that can be farmed. ECM gives huge edge over premades and randoms. You can have both worlds in Blood Asp but only poptart in MadCat II.

Faction Warfare.

I think I found your problem, using FW as a means to measure anything balance related outside of how horrible FW is, is a bad mistake.

If it gives you an edge against premades then those premades aren't very good.

If it gives you an edge against premades then those premades aren't very good.

If you are in a similarly talented premade, ECM can be the difference. Most good premades roll with a least a few ECM mechs for ECM coverage support. If you are up against a premade that rolls yours, you could be the last to die per lack of targeting info. That is always my main goal along with max possible damage output when up against better teams.

So can a better mech, one that doesn't have limitations that most ECM mechs do.

That's why all the best teams during the MWOWC used a bunch of ECM mechs.....oh wait. The only ECM mech that gets used at top level of play right now is the Cheetah, and it isn't due to the fact it carries ECM.

I'm actually thinking of editing my Clan picks.

Hellion

Lobo

Nova Cat

Mad Cat MK II

Outside of the MKII and Nova Cat, most of the variants utilize newtech. Especially the Hellion. Holy god, that thing is newteched out the yinyang. MKII and Nova Cat both have a few newtech variations, however.

Neither the Lobo or the Hellion are on that list, however.

So I voted for a few of the mechs, and that includes the Raptor. BUT, it's in hope they accidentally confuse it with the Raptor II's model and make it actually look badarse. Otherwise, my other choice would be the Owens. We need an Owens.

The list is incomplete sadly but Russ hinted at some 3068 weapons and it'd be nice for the IS to get some strong mechs for a change.

OMI? You mean Omni?

Mercury is not an Omni, it's still a BattleMech. What you are looking for is the Raptor.
