Most agree its high time the IS gets an uber assault mech with all the KDK-3s and MAD-IICs running around. One good candidate is the Cerberus. Out of the gate without any hardpoint inflation there are some really impressive options. The variants breakdown as follows:

Cerberus MR-V2
LA: 1B
LT: 1B 2E
CT: none
RT: 1B 2E
RA: 1B
H: 1 AMS

Immediately apparent build options:
4 UAC5s, sizable XL engine
2 Gauss 2 (ER)PPCs
2 Gauss 3 LPLs
4 AC10s (somewhere between Dire and slow Mauler MX90 speed, >1000 damage ammo capacity)
3 UAC5s 2 PPCs
4 UAC5s 1 PPC

Cerberus MR-5M
LA: 1B
LT: 1B 2E
CT: none
RT: 1B 2E
RA: 3E
H: 1AMS

This one can mimic many of the non-quad ballistic builds listed above, but it also has 7E hardpoints and 3B hardpoints, so you can do some mix of laser vomit and Gauss/dakka. This also makes 3 AC10s and 2 PPCs and interesting option, though you will be going Dire Wolf speed with an XL at that point.

Cerberus MR-V3
LA: 1B
LT: 2E
CT: none
RT: 2E
RA: 1B
H: 1 AMS

This one is pretty far out of timeline, but also has MWO weapons so it would probably come with the pack. Without inflation it doesn't do anything the -V2 can't do, in fact it does less. I would assume this one would get some E hardpoints inflated on the side torsos, possible 3 and 3, but they could do 2B per arm instead, completely unknown. Inflating the side torsos would be more interesting to me personally.

The last variant, the MR-6B has ER Medium lasers and an improved C3 computer, and would probably be left out. It doesn't do anything the -5M can't do anyway.

I think it would be a pretty solid addition, and we only have 1 IS 95 tonner. Of course, much to TheArisen's dismay this will directly compete with the Nightstar... sorry! I would take both mechs personally Posted Image

Looking at the artwork, it looks like the hardpoint placement isn't exactly stellar unfortunately, but I think the big engine capability/overall firepower would still make it a great option!

I don't know why, but that makes me think of a mix of a Space Marine Titan

Which means I 100% support it getting added.

Yeah. The Nightstar definitely wins in the aesthetics department.

U will get it with the Annihilator (and with a max engine rating with like 250? :>).

That's an Imperial Knight, but that's what I thought of too when I saw it. Which isn't bad.

As for the mech itself, it's not bad. But I think anyone hoping for this to 'save' the Inner Sphere assault class is going to be disappointed. Pretty much mandatory XL engines, IS ballistic weight/crit restraints, massive torso... I fear that, despite it's higher engine cap, it's basically just a King Crab that has the option to put it's cannons in the torso.

I really don't know enough about Warhammer 40k. Most of my knowledge is from the Dawn of War games causing me to go on multiple voyages through wikis on the entire universe. So I get things like these mixed up a bit. Oh, and before I forget, "FOR THE GREATER GOOD!"

You realize most if not all IS mechs wish they could run an XL if they could pull it off? The Mauler for example runs STD engine not because it wants to, but because it has to due to the size of all its torso ballistics. So the XL engine isn't really a big problem, especially give its higher engine cap which means boating energy is also a strong possibility.

The reason the King Crab isn't good is because of its non-humanoid torso that makes it horrible and its stupidly low slung arms.

The King Crab has a lot of problems that most other mechs don't have, most notably are its wide, knuckle-dragging arms.

There are a handful of mechs that would "save" (really just help diversify and give more power centric options) the Inner Sphere assault class, this thing, the Thunder Hawk, and the Gunslinger come to mind. I like the Nightstar, but hand actuators aren't useful, and none of the standard hardpoint configurations amount to much beyond dual gauss... meaning we have to count on hardpoint inflation, and it doesn't have ballistic hardpoints spread over 3-4 components like the Cerberus/Thunder Hawk.

But don't worry, I will still campaign for the Sunder, just not in "Release uber IS assaults!" threads.

No shame in goofing on W40K names and terms. It's a big, inconsistent universe.

It vaguely reminds me of Pacific Rims Cherno Alpha.. Just halve the Chernos towering shoulder somewhat.

I'd love to see this thing in game. Quad AC10 has been something I've been wanting to try out for awhile.

4 AC/10 build sounds a lot like IS AC/10 getting ghost heat on more than 2 fired at the same time. Or in other words: Fun!

It would be save pre-order for me, just because PGI need months to actually do something. The only IS machine to get more than 2 AC/10 is the Ilya, which sadly doesn't excels at it.

I suppose its better looking. Its inferior though based on its stock engine and the available hardpoint configurations. We could pray for inflation I suppose, but there are a lot of beastly builds that are guaranteed available for the Cerberus..
