I'd love for the IS to have a mech with 4 ballistic hardpoints spread to four components so that we can take quad goose / AC10.

That said.. man, this thing is ugly.

It's like a mutant barn door that grew tumors on its back.

I'm OK with it.. but.. god, it's so ugly..

I suppose its better looking. Its inferior though based on its stock engine and the available hardpoint configurations. We could pray for inflation I suppose, but there are a lot of beastly builds that are guaranteed available for the Cerberus..

Dem mounts. Given PGIs history of dropping IS weapon mounts I'd expect the. At about knee level.

Also, dem ST. You could make them shoulder and part of the arms I guess but the potential for flared ST you can hit from any angle...

I'm game with the mounts. I like the Cerberus. Just the Nightstar would be harder for PGI to bollocks up while the Cerberus has the potential to go full Vendi.

They could easily bollocks up the Nightstar as wel.. Super wide mounts, not good hardpoint inflation, non-XL friendly hit boxes potentially, all that remains to be seen. I wouldnt mind seeing either. I'm sure Alex's design of it would sell me on aesthetics alone, much like the Supernova.

You save 4 tons!

If you played as good as the guy in the other thread talking about how OP his LB10X, 4xsrm4 Orion was vs Clans you'd appreciate it more I gess.

To address this, one Nightstar variant comes with a 380xl which means a cap of 400. There's also the JJ variant that does not have hand actuators as it's got a uac20 & lbx20 in it's arms.

As far as comparing the Nightstar to the Cerb. the Nstar wins the high mounts and volumetric battle as it's a chicken walker. However the Cerberus has more varied hard points. I'd like both mechs personally as I see the Cerberus as a ballistic based Banshee and I love my Banshee. So yeah, this is actually my #2 mech. I have put a bit of effort into the Nightstar but I'd be very happy with the Cerberus.

4 AC/10 build sounds a lot like IS AC/10 getting ghost heat on more than 2 fired at the same time. Or in other words: Fun!

Nah. The resulting 'Mech is Dire Wolf slow with short range for its weight and mediocre projectile velocity. Also, very short on ammo.

Gimmick.

Most agree its high time the IS gets an uber assault mech with all the KDK-3s and MAD-IICs running around. One good candidate is the Cerberus. Out of the gate without any hardpoint inflation there are some really impressive options.

What is considered "uber" IS mech in MWO, is considered "average" by Clan standards. This mech is meh compared to Clan Battlemechs.

Honestly, if IS could fire 3x PPC together the BNC-3E would reign as king of IS Assaults.

Still waiting for that GH level to get bumped up for the IS just so PPC Awesomes can have a slight comeback.

I will support this mech with cash if it comes out. The prime version with twin Gauss and sufficient speed is compelling.

I would rather have the Cerberus over the annihilator.

However, I think the Pillager with its claws and jets would be the true counter/companion to the Kodiak

It's whether the torso mounted B slots on the Pillager may be too Low as compared to arm mounted B slots of the Ceberus.

I would Pre order both nonetheless.

But it's all future tech!!! So maybe we still have to wait for post 3053 tech to be announced.

Engine Cap at 400 and massive armor quirks for side torsos (lorewise: you know, those shield wings there) to make it XL-friendly.

Would make it pretty distinct from the existing IS 100tonners.
And it would sell like 3 times as well as the Cerberus. Guaranteed.

Only way I buy that ugly ***** is if it comes with a "klaatu barada nikto" warhorn, and the Hero variant is called Gort.

edit: m u t h a is censored? I didn't even follow it up with flucker. Gimmie a break.

Probably, but it also has mediocre hard-point spread. Unless they plan to stuff ballistics in the arms or put one in each ST, it's going to be a somewhat underwhelming 100 ton 'Mech. Solid, but not "uber" like the other suggestions in this thread.

Having a 100tonner capable of using an XL engine would make it pretty "uber".
Also, they can do stuff like 1 head E and 2 CT E. And yeah, why not 1 B in every ST.

Plus there are things like torso twist angle, JJ capability, high torso hardpoints.
