But what about when the people mentioning it play at a high level?
Your argument falls apart

The 2PPC Summoner is annihilated when out of position. The Dual Gauss/ PPC Night Gyr has a 40 Point Alpha and I'm much more afraid of somebody at the "High Level" Sighting me down with that config.

Bolded the key part, because good players tend to minimize that getting caught out of position part, and the Night Gyr can't deal with Summoner when its in position whatsoever.

FTFY, basically you just figured out that high DPS mechs can actually be a threat, after all the Dakka Mauler was a thing and it was an Assault that had a repeatable but low 25 point alpha.

5 AC/5s ? You mean the 4 Ultra 5s with the 40 point alpha?

Honestly, I don't think the top 1% of a video game are worth worrying about. It's the real-life 1% that require attention. Posted Image

Then you suck, If i can Nail Summoners with Dual Gauss when they pop tart, so can high level players.

No...I mean 5 AC5s, the build that was meta until the Kodiak dropped (well, unless you ran the 3 AC5/2 UAC build).

No, you just play against scrub Summoner players who don't know how to minimize exposure, poke from different spots as often as possible, and make sure your jumps can't be timed. Gauss is the least effective at dealing with good poptarts because of the inability to do snapshots. That is one of the main reasons the KDK-3 has such a hard time with HBK-IIC-As, let alone Summoners.

If a summoner poptart pilot is letting you hit them with gauss then they are terrible at that playstyle, plain and simple.

NO WAI

Those frankenmech-ish builds are doable now. Finally, they are comp viable.

Lol. I can out trade KDK-3s (piloted by scrubs) in a Dragon Slayer too, that doesn't mean that the KDK-3 isn't the best assault in the game. Please.. try to exercise some critical thought.

So, what your saying is that, because the Summoner is good at a single style of play to the point of being a niche mech, it deserves a nerf. Really? By that logic, the Atlas deserves a heavy nerf because it's too good at Brawling, even though it positively sucks outside of that role, it still deserves a nerf. Same goes for any of the other mechs who specialise in a single style of play.

The Nova has received negative adjustments 3 times since the re-scale and it is only really, really good with erSL or SPL short range assassin so , yeah, that is how it works.

I actually have started avoiding playing lights there because I quickly fall into terrible habits.

Its still good at 2x ER PPC poptarting, the HBK-IIC is just better.

I haven't seen that. Maybe I need to play more, but I've rarely seen that (if it's a thing, it's been a while since I've noticed that over the other prominent metamechs).

It's not as good at it as the HBK is but it can still put two up high in its torsos. Same speed and hops as the NVA. I admit I haven't run the NVA with PPCs lately, but the required clearance alone would make me favor the HMN.
