So I just came to conclusion that if I keep playing my Jenner IIC I'm gonna lash out on something sooner or later, so I decided to buy myself either 3 Mist Lynx's, Locust, or Panthers(just to finish eliting them).

So which one will least likely bring out the fury of me.

So... If you keep playing the BEST light mech in the game (arguably on par with the Arctic Cheater), you'd "lash out", and because of that, you decided to buy the WORST ONES (well the Locusts are OK, as long as nobody can aim or have streaks)?

I don't understand...

Hilarious, but on serious note the Jenner IIC can't even last 5 seconds on a flank without be blasted into oblivion because it tall as a cicada and the CT being the size of assault's leg.

It;'s the point for me it's not even fun to run the thing without be frustration I can't go backstabbing an lone assault without being punished with their god level of agility quirks. But I digress painfully....

Honestly, if the Jenner IICs still aren't working out for you, lights might not be the best weight class for you. Not to be rude but I do not do well in them personally either.

I find the 40 tonners's increase in armor and weaponry to be more friendly. Pseudo lights I am good at; cicadas and vipers are fun mechs.

Real lights I am piss poor at.

People keep saying the Jenner IIC is the best.

I cannot help but wonder if they played them post-rescale when forming that opinion.

I played it post rescale, and I find Jenner-IIC to be one of the best lights, not that means much compared to other classes.

^ This. Grab a Cicada-2B instead, and profit. Assuming you got the skillz.

I'm trying to broading my weight class, heavies is way to easy since I played heavies the most, assaults I can do well just not a big fan of most of the choices other than the Spirit bear, MAD IIC, and Maulers. Cicadas not really fun to play and I own the loyalty varient. Don't care about the Phoenix Hawk, but they seem more agile then lights because **** lights ~PGI 2016-17.

And Jenner won't get anything, until the new skill tree but I doubt it be enough to make work outside anything that's lurms or streaks.

Out of the three you picked, I would go for the Mist Lynx. People often complain "but it's le bad!!!" Well, lets compare to the other options:

Locust:
- can die instantly to a single alpha of another locust, do not stop for literally anything
(this should tell you enough, it is not a light 'mech for noobs, even a 25 tonner feels like a tank when compared to 20 tonners)

Panthers:
- Mostly relegated to the dirty work like fire support
- Usually slower than a Mist Lynx
- After the rescale, they went from decent fire support PPC carriers to large "hit me" signs
(I like panthers, but hell, I can hardly play them anymore, my 1AA Vindicator has taken its place as a mobile PPC carrier)

The Mist Lynx, although only slightly faster than a Panther, has the second smallest profile in the game next to the Locust, and has the respectable armor to match (not saying it has much, but it can survive for longer being exposed to fire). It can carry ECM and hardpoints that are often a benefit being only in the arms (the arm armor buff has helped this a TONNNN).

Builds and tactics to consider:

ERPPC Harassment

Stay at range and poptart. Only fire when the heat is at 75% or lower, and be a good shot.

Also, be annoying and stand on the hill in crimson strait while hitting enemies in the back.

Brawly Brawly Smally

Be at every angle you think your opponent can't aim at you or know you are there.

If they engage you, run behind your team. You generally won't be noticed anyway, but don't bet on it. Do lots of alpha strikes in one spot, it actually does really good damage.

SRM Cheese

Basically aloha snackbar into the enemy when they aren't looking at you and then run away.

Simple

Play it the same as the SRM + SPL build. This is just a more heat efficient alternative.

I can't agree that the Jenner IIC is among the best light mechs. It is too fragile and mediums blow it out of the water when it comes to agility - which means it gets hit even easier by the enemy compared to other mechs (especially after re-sizing).

It is great when it can bring its firepower to bear and is not targeted...but which mech isn't?

Sorry, that's rubbish. An ACH is simply better than a Jenner IIC because of its ECM, size and hitboxes. The same goes for a certain light IS mech (minus the ECM) with which I fell in love again. And no, I won't name it here, simply because the heavy and assault crowd gets their panties in a twist as soon as a light mech starts to get kills.

The ERPPC MLX can be quite the fun.

It's tiny, it's stealthy, it has the PPC on the arm which allows for awesome poking and aiming.
It can poptart, too.
And it has good quirks.

You shouldn't get hit, though. Getting hit is really bad in the little sucker xD.

Yes. I have. I consider it roughly on par with the ACH, but much less forgiving. For comp, the JR7-IIC and ACH are the mainstays, with the SDR-5K right behind. Oxide, LCT, RVN and WLF are situational choices. ADRs and KFXs have uses but they're a pretty different animal due to fixed low speeds.

OP: You might try Wolfhounds. Quirks, hitboxes and lots of torso mounts help their size.

No need to gimp them that way. They're pretty tanky for a light.

MLXs, really? They're fun, but not very good. The WLF got buffs recently...no one seems to have noticed.

Only the locust did better on the rescale, . The light tier was almost killed off. Look at what they did to firestarters .The Jenner 2c is a good but you have to use it like you're redcore all the time. Trade off is you have the weapons off a heavy mech and you can oneshot mechs in the back.

Cheater is great too but after few hits and the arms fall off and most the weapons

Wolfhound isnt bad.

Panther is a bad mech. Arms fall off with your weapons.

I have most lights I run cheater, locust and oxide.

Which strongly supports what I'm always saying:

Balance shouldn't be done by magical quirks, but by number:
Choosing inferior Mech classes (IS over Clans, lighter ones over heavier ones) should give you more WAVES of Mechs, even in quickplay.

I would gladly choose a light over an assault if i can have 4 of them in the same match instead of just one fatty.

I support removing all quirks and going with a battle value system. If someone wants to run a commando it frees up more room for a timber.

Yea been seeing them every 4 or 5 matches, and I must missed the Wolfhound buff may need to pick them up once I save a bit on space bucks.

Been lately noticing on my Jenner IIC if a certain part of the Rear CT is hit transfer to the forward CT, also sometimes when I get hit in the front CT the damage is transfered to the Rear so idk what's with that.
