No, you didn't, the HBK-IIC is still better than the Huntsman outside of brawling (and the specific build that matters is paywalled).

Don't get me wrong, the Huntsman is a solid Clan medium, but it isn't as great as the HBK-IIC.

...something I've been shaming people with in Scouting mode, by the way. Scout Derek is all like, "Ugh, Huntsmen?" Proceeds to utterly annihilate HHoD in scouting, two games in a row, to the point that I could hear Scout trying to comprehend what he was watching. Downright depressingly one sided, quickly, and violently, mind you.

We stopped trying to leg. We just tore their torsos out. The damage output is all kinds of stupid. XD

Also, it is a loadout that is achievable in slightly less optimal locations with non-hero pods.

Huntsman is not a bad robot. It just runs very hot :P

Cool story? Scouting mode isn't the sole mode to determine the success of a mech, especially given that the Ice Ferret with 5 cSPLs was the former king of scouting mode (haven't played scouting mode since the Huntsman and Viper got introduced to really test if it still is mind you) and we all know people's opinion of the Ice Fridge.

redundant? redundant?.... how many other Mechs can load every weapon type?
i think not to many.

Equipping all three weapon families at the same time isn't very helpful most of the time, and the Bushwacker doesn't even have enough tonnage to make full use of this anyways. That, and your energy weapons are very limited thanks to being in the CT.

Just at the same weight and tech base, the Shadow Hawk and Wolverine can both do just that. Not that is something worth boasting about since that is considered a detriment more than a plus.

I like the Fridge. It was never the King of scouting mode. It was solid, but never king. I do like this alternative universe where it is, though. I mean, it would mean firepower isn't as important as speed. What a wonderful world that would be.

However, it is funny you bring that mech up. People call it trash, yet it can outperform other mechs in certain niche situations. That directly leads to the interesting case of people being wrong, no matter how many people chant the same tune. Many people wrong... are still wrong. Scouting is the Huntsman's niche of superiority, with exception going to perhaps the Nova. In any other case, I still stand by the statement that it is an equal matchup to the Hunchie outside of dual gauss, quad-UAC2, or lazvom.

We stray, however, from the topic of the thread, being the Bushwacker. I suspect only the twin AC10 configuration that will no doubt be built to make an appearance in scouting. Outside of that, I'm honestly not sure how it will perform.

So glad i didnt buy it with RL money, that right arm looks huge and the CT is gonna take every single shot that get fired at that thing. That huge ridge on the back just screams "shoot me here even when i cant see you"

If the MAD's are anything other then proof that having a large rear end means getting shot in it a lot.

I dont think i will even buy this one for Cbills aside from having some uber quirks or bringing something new to the table, which it doesnt not have and wont get.

It was when it consistently beat SHD-2D2/GRF-3M/JR7-O death squads. Prior to the Viper and Huntsman the Clans never really had a mech outside the Ice Ferret that could really compete at brawling like the IS mechs did. Then again, like I said it has been a while since I played scouting mode.

Speed isn't the only thing it has going for it, it also has sustainability (not something energy boats can generally boast) and durability (thanks to structure quirks). That said, mobility in a brawl oriented environment is pretty freaking important so yes, speed does matter for short range.

Agreed, that is why on drop 3 SJR used to take them quite a bit after seeing Lords make good use of them (specifically Psicoholic or however you spell his/her name).

First, that is quite a few big roles that you are excluding.
Second, you forgot ERPPC poptart (yes the HBK-IIC-A is better).

You could very likely see 6 ASRM4 or 4 ASRM6 configs especially since both support CT flamers iirc.

An extra heat sink and/or a slightly larger TComp isn't worth it in my opinion. As a poptart, the HMN jumps better, the chassis itself is more durable in regards to damage spreading, and the PPC mounts are actually a little higher on it. Why I call it a wash. Your extremely marginal extra cooling and slightly faster PPC do not matter if you're down a PPC earlier.

Those would be pretty damned brutal. I'm concerned about the spread on it, though. There's a reason you don't see 8x ASRM4 Pakhets, and it isn't only about the heat generation. Same for Kintaros - though those suckers can SRM bomb something serious in Scouting. That said, it'll still tear people wide open, being both IS SRMs, so gaining an extra 0.15 damage per missile and a tighter missile spread by default, and an Artemis variation of it.

I think that would make for the ability to select a variety of weapons to the extent that you could get a nice cool, as in not hot, Alpha Strike... No?

Edit...

lets say that is if you wanted a Close In Brawler

My only issue with the Bushwacker model is that the AC barrel on the right arm is unnecessarily low. Like, why? You have that whole box, raise it up!

Yeah, it's a bit low. But isn't there one that can slam an AC10 in each side torso? Or 3x AC5? All torso mounted? That's the variant I'm curious about.

The BSW-X1 is the one that can fit 3xB all in the torsos. What concerns me, though, is that the low arm hardpoints will have a direct, negative effect on being able to do Gauss-vomit on the High Roller. Right now, only the Blackjack is competent at doing that from the IS side, this would have been the second Medium to be so capable if it weren't for the low mount.

I mean, can still do it if we shove the Gauss into the ST, but with XL that makes me uneasy.

Point nose towards enemy, laugh as you have virtually zero side torso from that angle? I donno. I look at the Bushy and think it would be good for mid to close range combat. Long range seems like a stretch on it. Low slung arms are less of a concern in a knife fight, after all.

As I said earlier, though, I'm curious about the mech. It isn't one I personally want to own, and I have no nostalgia towards it. However, it appears to be capable on paper. That physical design is peculiar as hell, though. I'm wondering if it will be a CT Magnet.

Shoot where the arm meets the torso. You will be rewarded with an XL check almost every time. Everybody liked to say Catapults had virtually no side torso from the front before they tweaked the hit-boxes, and that was similarly untrue. Same solution there, too.

You can also shoot the lower sweeps housing the ST weapons. So, basically, shoot it in the barrels.

The Bushy won't be good in a knife fight for several reasons, one of which is the large flank. Very bad for spreading damage up close. It also can't jump. it might be a decent striker, even for close-range, but it will not be a knife fighter.

I'm in the same boat. Awaiting early reviews before making any decision.

Meh, it is moment like this that make me really hate the Early Adopter model for their mech packs.

As in now that I have a better idea of how it will look and all that I may actually be interested in buying it, but all the bonuses are long gone cause I wanted to make an informed purchase rather than an impulse purchase, ya know? (and as many know concept art have not always been an accurate representation of the finished product.)

That's why you buy the $20 pack within the EA bonus period, take your evaluation period, then cancel before the release if you don't like what you see.
