(by the way I don't disagree with your view power creep, just not concerned about it in an UP class)

I'm no longer concerned about it either, believe me. In the 5 stages of MWO grief I am well into acceptance.

hahahahaha. I haven't been around MWO for that long (was interested 2011/2012 and then got bored of waiting pre beta release). I'm patiently hopeful for some fun new things in MWO this year. The previous to patches seemed to move in the right direction...

To be fair I do think that Javie will at least be average by light standards, but being an average mech in the weakest weight class is not much to brag about.

Or being the best IS light for that matter....

I really wanted a Lancelot. :,<

Still, at most you're looking at six missile hardpoints.

Could boat Six SSRM-2s, maybe even try put six LRM-5s in there (if you use Endo Steel, and take armor off the arms and head.)

Would this be viable (ac20 as srm 2s, ac5 half tons as ams)? Or drop the jj go full 285 for the 3kph more?

First Ultimate Pack I've bought, without even thinking too hard about it. Posted Image

Javelin wasn't my first choice, nor even my first 30 ton IS choice, but I'm very happy with it. Alex did a great job as always, I've got some definite nostalgia for it, and the potential excites me. Great choice!

Is this Javelin DOA thread? Because I have seen much negativity on many previous pages on this thread.

The sunken missiles make it look emaciated, perhaps the "roundness" of the original art could be improved by making the launchers more flush with the sternum.

If anything the missile bays look like they're missing a cover.

Missile hardpoints are clustered more closely together than jenner II's or oxides.

It could have tight, artemis like, spread running in stock mode.

Collector + Hero for me
ECM and moar pew-pew isn't worth $10 to me, but pretty colors and a witty name sure were.

I can't wait to start harvesting legs with this thing; I have bought like 6 IS packs and haven played any of them(what the heck is a PHX anyway?!), but this sweet little thing is going to get me on the naughty list for sure.

How good this thing will be will depend on its scale and hitbox arrangement. It has the hardpoints, engine-cap and JJs to make it a decent light, if it's similar in size to the ACH with similarly good hitboxes, it should be one of the better IS lights.

I'm gonna wait until we get the model comparisons to pass judgement on its viability.

Hey, I'm happy for everyone who wants to buy it.

But when people talk about how buying stuff for MWO is "a good deal", it reminds me of people who insist that buying a $500 ship in Star Citizen is a "good deal", based on how much time it would take them to buy it with game currency, or how much better it is than other ships, and all that. Same thing with any game where you can spend real money, really. Clash of Clans. Or when HBS is trying to sell Battletech merchandise and they're offering the Atlas resin statue for $200, and people on the forum said that was "a good deal". Just a matter of perspective, really. For me, it's not worth the money, that's all.

I'm one of those that got the 350$ Starfarer in SC (besides other ships) and my reasoning for it is not so much that it's a good deal, but the fact that I want this ship in my hangar when the game is released and land it on a planet, take out the rover out of the garage and go exploring, right at the start. Besides doing the regular fuel mining, refining and transportation business that this thing can do, of course. I just can't wait to farm for this in the game - it would be a long while, and there will still be plenty enough of other ships and things you can farm for even when you have this.

I want to be one those that can provide to the community and his friends the possibility of being a part of a bigger multicrew ship and "having a job" on it when the game starts. Besides supporting the development, both of these reasons give you a nice, rewarding philanthropist feeling. It just sounds too much fun being a captain on a big ship like this to pass up, and just looking at this beast in my hangar every time I log in the game it makes my day.

Now in comparison MWO mech packs are mostly not worth the price they have (which is always inflated by the bonuses like strapped on premium), although the biggest offenders are the reinforcements - now that is a scam, those could be sold for less, it's just a bloody variant. Anyway, the Javelin is not only a good deal but if you don't have an Oxide like me it's a great - and certainly better choice considering it's humanoid geometry and jump jets. I tried and felt how being a walking CT is like on the Jenner IIC, so I'm looking forward and preordering this IS missile boat for sure, happily forever skipping the Oxide.

heh. Imagine if MechWarrior 2 sold half its mechs as addon packs that each cost the same as MW2. But you didn't get to properly play MW2 for another X amount of years. And their reasoning is for it is to fund MW2, which you will also have to pay full price for.

Not that I'm complaining, we wouldn't have SC if people weren't willing to throw their bank accounts to fulfill their gaming dreams.

I agree, throwing money in SC is a really big gamble. I never gamble in life but I let this slide as it is the only thing that I did gamble for. And I really wish for it to succeed.

It's just like BattleTech. Me, just like most of us here, would never throw so much at MWO if it wasn't for the BT fantasy and nostalgia. SC promises a similar fantasy, that is even bigger than this for me personally (it all started with Mass Effect 1, when I got really inspired with the idea of traveling the stars with your space ship and crew, Firefly style). And ME was just touching the surface of possibilities, that we hope SC will be.

The Javelin is unique in the terms of this game, where the only firm line in the sand in Clan/Inner Sphere. The IS now has a light missile mech you don't (Or wont, I guess) have to pay for.

I know SRMs aren't currently everyone's cup of tea, and LRMs certainly aren't, but I'm surprised by how few people are willing to at least give it the credit it definitely deserves. When we got down to it, there were only three good options for release this month - A 20 ton Clanner (Shot down before announcement), The Raptor (Opening up the IS to Omnimechs), and the Javelin (Missiles being the only thing IS lights can't do).

I know the other two probably would have been better, but why is everyone getting so hissy about third place? For ****s sake, everyone's acting like they released the Dart or something.

Holy Crap....I'm actually agreeing with Bombast for a change? Will have to buy it just for that.

Kanajashi has already posted his "Should I buy" video...his 'spreadsheet warrior' breakdown shows a ton of variations that are possible with this mech. I Like the look. The whole 80's meme, to me, is very retro cool. Since I'm a child of the 80's I even like the colors. While not as hyped for the Raptor as it appears many were, I was hot for an IS light. This one fits that slot just fine.

Cheers

It looks pretty good IMO. I like the slender design which seems more important than ever for a light mech in MWO.

It's another light mech to add to the MechWarrior 5: Mercs roster (and hopefully a Battletech expansion/sequel as well).
