Hey, I'm happy for everyone who wants to buy it.
But when people talk about how buying stuff for MWO is "a good deal", it reminds me of people who insist that buying a $500 ship in Star Citizen is a "good deal", based on how much time it would take them to buy it with game currency, or how much better it is than other ships, and all that. Same thing with any game where you can spend real money, really. Clash of Clans. Or when HBS is trying to sell Battletech merchandise and they're offering the Atlas resin statue for $200, and people on the forum said that was "a good deal". Just a matter of perspective, really. For me, it's not worth the money, that's all.
I'm one of those that got the 350$
Starfarer in SC (besides other ships) and my reasoning for it is not so much that it's a good deal, but the fact that I want this ship in my hangar when the game is released and land it on a planet, take out the rover out of the garage and go exploring, right at the start. Besides doing the regular fuel mining, refining and transportation business that this thing can do, of course. I just can't
wait to farm for this in the game - it would be a long while, and there will still be plenty enough of other ships and things you can farm for even when you have this.
I want to be one those that can
provide to the community and his friends the possibility of being a part of a bigger multicrew ship and "having a job" on it when the game starts. Besides supporting the development, both of these reasons give you a nice, rewarding philanthropist feeling. It just sounds too much fun being a captain on a big ship like this to pass up, and just looking at this beast in my hangar every time I log in the game it makes my day.
Now in comparison MWO mech packs are mostly not worth the price they have (which is always inflated by the bonuses like strapped on premium), although the biggest offenders are the reinforcements - now that is a scam, those could be sold for less, it's just a bloody variant. Anyway, the Javelin is not only a good deal but if you don't have an Oxide like me it's a great - and certainly better choice considering it's humanoid geometry and jump jets. I tried and felt how being a walking CT is like on the Jenner IIC, so I'm looking forward and preordering this IS missile boat for sure, happily forever skipping the Oxide.
