You find a way to double the population, and I'm sure PGI would be willing to separate the queues between Tech Level 1 and the rest. But at this point we're talking about Quickplay and the game as a whole, while this thread is supposed to be about CW-specific feedback and suggestions.

No we are talking about CW, we can run a 4-8 man drops in a 3025 environment, give those of us who want to play this way the option. People like you are driving me nuts, 'oh we cant have that because it will effect the numbers', you have no proof that this will have any detrimental effect. Hell there is a good chance that i may bring some of the old guard back or at the very least renew their interest in the game. PGI should not force players to play one way, give us the option and go from there. A limited 4-8 man drop size in this CW environment will reduce the load and resources needed to implement this sub section of CW, and since most of the stuff is in place will require minimum tuning, all they will need to do is code an extra drop deck type that cross checks the tech/chassis in the group with what is allowed.

In short, you play your way, and give us who want a true battletech experience the option to play it ours.

Agreed, PGI has shown that they can make it 4 v 4 in scouting... make the queues dynamic so that if there are 2 4 mans or 2 8 mans, they can face each other.

RE: The discussion in the Roundtable about game mode selection and "the invasion progression."

Give each mode a different weight in terms of how it contributes to the tug-o-war.

So Invasion counts for 5 ticks whereas Skirmish counts as 1 tick.

Then we can go with a semi-random (choose 1 of 3) or completely random (no choice at all) mode selection but still give the impression of an "invasion progression" like what Russ was talking about.

Then the nubs can ease into Skirmish but the ultra-leet-pro units will always go for the e-peen-embiggening Invasion mode b/c it counts for the most, and the nubs have an incentive to work towards the Invasion mode because they would like to embiggen their e-peens too.

i'm not sure about kill death ratios as a marker for FW, all it does is eliminate 50% of players as logically at least 50% of players must have a kdr of less than 1, probably more, also if you are like me your kdr is ridiculously low as it took me ages to get the hang of the game, but more importantly will cut the game completely in half for at least half the people, i think therefore kill death ratio wont be used as a gate as players want to experience the whole game regardless of what the top players may wish.

Hey why not, they have already alienated those who wanted a battletech related experience by influencing balance to the way they play, so why not alienate those of us who are undesirables in their eyes as well. After all it seems PGI only cares about the comp teams with the representative they chose for the town halls.

Its as accurate as it needs to be, especially if you don't want to sit down through the long discussions regarding drop zones and game mode voting. The most interesting stuff was literally covered in the last few moments and Dane laid it out well.

Mech The Dane, he is really trying hard to save FW/CW and the game all at once, not a small thing to do.

He goes straight to games mechanics without breaking the lore or at least as minimal as possible, he is is doing PGIs job.

Huge Kudos to Mech The Dane.

what about doing the world of worcraft thing. two servers, one is lore fw, with enforced lore builds(but allowed custom skill tree), but only or small groups, and the other is competetive, which is anyone ready to get stomped.or to stomp with everyone who wants to doing its meta build stuff.

(this is only a serious suggestion if pgi likes it, i realize how far fetched it is forumwarriors)

- It can be done more easy than two servers. Just hi-end game content - lore based battles for high leveled players like tier 1-2. Like FP but with some restrictions to build changed from week to week. Like - no more than 2 ERPPC... and so on.
Want more hard drive play - choose battle with restrictions and hardcore. Want less - go to more light play with less rewards.

Lets just convert the 3 regional servers into RP, normal, and NHUA. :D

You all remember nhua from mw4 riiiiiiiight?

You get paid the most for RP (the most restrictive), normal pay for normal games, and no pay for nhua since its ludicrous mode ;)

I mostly like this idea, but I would not want to have the server I want to be the furthest away from me.

It sounds nice but if the main problem perceived by the Devs and encouraged by the vocal FW'ers is that Mercenaries are ruining everything by being able to switch back and forth and are somehow OP and Clan is OP and newbies are ruining everything and Loyalists need more rewards and balance balance balance... you'll just end up at the same place again, only worse. It'll be about how to keep RP players accountable to RP and not end up in this mess again, and you'll have the same complaints in the Casual server too. You'd have to implement some sort of filter for joining the RP server in order to at least weed out the rookies, which *seems* like an easy thing to do and something that no one would *want* to exploit... but if that's where the better rewards are, that's where they'll go. You'll have whole units comprised of people that just started playing yesterday joining the RP server because they liked the gameplay from MW5 they saw on YouTube and wanted Living Legends with a MechLab. One easy solution might be access to the RP server only during Premium Time, which I think should be on the table for FW at the moment anyway, or maybe use the nebulous 'Tier System' and only allow T1/T2 pilots on the RP server, but I'm no expert.

That said, *if* the community could be counted on to police itself, it'd be a HUGE step forward to let the veteran/RP/hardcore players have their own playground and the casual-but-not-quite-PUG-status players have our own. I like your thinking, MT. ;)

Ya bws2k is right, switch so rp has less rewards than normal. Keep nhua outta there too, still a bad idea.

Then have pgi push it as rp is for lore diehards and newer people still getting a feel, and normal fw is what you graduate up to, and lock normal till teir 3.

Boom, new player, lore duehard, and seal clubbings are fixed in one fell swoop.
And if people do move up to normal, they have a safe® pace to get better after theyre first seal clubbing, as opposed to having to go back to qp for another few weeks (which gets old fast, at least for me). It also accounts for the solos out there who can successfully pug it successfully, like warkhan and count zero.

Actually they could just separate it into RP (simulator) mode and Normal (Arcade) mode and they would not have to have greater or lesser rewards for either mode, they could just have lore-appropriate rewards for RP and "normal" rewards for Normal mode.

Ah, but now you've stumbled upon the current vague expectation of what is actually supposed to happen - FW is supposed to be RP (simulator) and QuickPlay is supposed to be Normal (Arcade) mode. At least that's what I *think* the idea is but it's hard to tell because, again, there's no official stance on the matter. It just goes in circles. The best solution for everyone is to use Premium Content like a paywall and restrict FW access on its basis. PGI gives away Premium Time at events often enough, and new mechs usually come with it, and it's something you can purchase with real monies anyway. QuickPlay isn't terrible, getting 'roflstomped because of n00bs' is just not as much fun for some folks - because it takes forever to coordinate drops sometimes, and to make dropdecks, and the waiting times... which are all less needed or entirely absent in QuickPlay. Yes, you might get p0wned because your team is largely comprised of people two tiers below you, but it'll be over quickly and you can take another spin with the click of a single button as soon as you're out. It's not Invasion or Scouting or any of the cool stuff... but you can get that from time to time through events - OF WHICH THERE COULD BE MORE OF* now that we've got that snazzy new Community Page (which you should all have checked out by now). If players would be willing to sacrifice just a little bit, a lot of 'balance issues' would vanish. Of course the FW dynamic would change temporarily during those events when folks are activating Premium Time but if we know when to expect events ahead of time, FW folks could easily prepare for that. PGI could consider not doing that intra-faction events at the same time as well, and introduce FW changes well away from events that include Premium Time just to be sure the data isn't too skewed. Factions looking for new blood could also coincide recruiting campaigns with that timeframe as well. I don't know FW well enough to be certain but don't you earn MC for winning planets? Can you buy Premium Time with MC? If you can, the units could even used pooled MC specifically to allow guests into FW, or QuickPlayers could spend those hard-earned MC from events to buy even more Premium Time. Literally the only 'sacrifice' players would have to make is not being able to access all the content all the time, which could easily be scaled by PGI by having MC/Premium Time awards more often. It's really not complicated. The rest of the inter-FW problems (of which I acknowledge there appear to be many) would be able to be addressed with a much more reliable data pool of committed/experienced pilots.

Of course, that would all be under the heading of "Because Faction Play is supposed to be something a little extra for the veteran players, those that spend money on the game, and those hardcore Battletech fans while QuickPlay is for the casual, rookie, or investigating players who occasionally earn a day or two to pop into see what Faction stuff is all about (they can definitely still build dropdecks between Premium Time visits and such, definitely don't take that away)." Since we're not sure that's the actual heading we're all officially discussing all this under, it may all sound like gibberish from a guy who runs Mist Lynxes er'day and doesn't post except in walls of text. *Edit: (Because we can have a more cohesive voice as a community and have more direct and meaningful dialogue with the Community Manager)
