I definitely noticed when I went to test it with my macro. The non-cooldown ones are nice, haven't checked the jam chance though. Now, that ammo skill? It doesn't seem to do much, but on a proper AC boat, it makes a difference.

Too bad the skill tree makes it so you have to take ****** nodes to get the ones you want. Terrible design.

double the bonuses from the tree, cut the cost of cbills in half.

or double the bonuses from the tree, allow us to re-distribute any and all points on THAT mech freely. like 91 bought step upgrades that are now freely interchangeable.

most cooldown quirks aren't worth it, most of the defense quirks for structure and armor don't look that good at all. why do we have separate arm and torso speed? just combine them.

I could understand if the cost was more related to mech tonnage....but it';s not.

So far, my first thought is that this totally encourages boating so you max out one weapon tree and ignore the rest to apply the other nodes elsewhere.

downloading now, might be able to try it out tomorrow.

Looking through the notes, there's a lot there that doesn't seem worth picking up- a max 5% cooldown bonus? for five nodes? Wat?

I can tell you that when it goes to the live servers, the majority of my machines won't be getting 'skilled' until after the new-tech comes in ('cause all the builds are going to be changed so why waste points now) and my atlases are going to suddenly get really good at falling down hills.

A nerf to ECM looks great to me, even if this is shaping up to be a pretty sour price for it happening.

Edit - RestoIII cleared up something that I had missed involving the notes.

Urg...stuff you want or need is hidden behind stuff you don't want. Making you spend your points on garbage and not what you actually want to make your robot better. Especially stuff like advanced zoom, radar dep, and seismic.

That's got to change.

I'm sorry to say but I honestly hope this is thrown in the same trash bin as Ghost heat 2 and Infotech. There's nothing I like about the current form and I do not believe PGI can change it in any meaningful way.

Most people have already pointed out the glaring issues PGI seemed to have missed; Encourages boating, punishes diversity, makes all the Mechs feel samey, even more of a grind then there previously was, Clan and IS balance, Cant change your builds on a mech, and I feel the SRM nerfs have made them useless without putting skill points into them. Did I miss anything cause I stopped looking into the PTS after these, and I only played testing grounds twice before loosing hope.

My problem especially are the weapon trees. So you are "forced" to boat 1 or 2 weapon types. But what do you do if you want to try a different build? Specially omni-mechs are loosing their purpose to be flexible.

That still means you only need a maximum of 4 duplicates of each module, and for only a few specific modules get used on every build anyways (e.g. Seismic).

Ah hell, you're right. Which makes the Exp still wasted in most cases of people who built up a ton on Cbill 30% earning mechs.

At this point, I think this new skill tree will accelerate my departure from this game. I don't have time to grind out all of my mechs all over again. Plus, the way certain skills are located in the tree is just plain stupid.

The battletech beta is just around the corner, and as I don't have a lot of freetime, I'll just get my mech addiction with that.

The only premium time I have ever had came from events and who wants to pug 30 hours a week? I have just over 100 mechs, most of them are ranked up. I'm sitting on 300 mil cbills and will be a billionaire when they refund modules. Why is it so hard for you people to manage your cbills? I feel like this parallels real life where people who can't manage money feel entitled to welfare. I was patient and prudent with my purchases.
