Part of what i think makes MWLL is the competitiveness of not just mechs, but tanks and fighters, and while they do rule for the most part (as they should according to cannon). I think it would be really cool if tanks and aerofighters where eventually included in MWO, and given its F2P nature i do not think that is out of the realm of possibility...

Edit:
I should add that I think the devs have much more important things to focus on, and im not pushing for it now ;)

Edit:
Perhaps NPC Tanks/Fighters/Dropships could make it more interesting... The commander could call in these assets, saw that down below and thought it was an excellent idea !

Thoughts?

Find a proper way to do it and I'm sure devs will listen. As it is right now, they would simply be counter-productive. ;)

no. in all the books i've read it's taken one, TWO shots tops from lasers or srms to demolish a tank and everyone inside. in mwll like 10 shots or mor efrom a light mech. which is just dumb.

I would love to see computer controlled tanks. Bulldogs, Po, and Manticores mainly.

Your team could be a lance or more trying to take out infinite waves of armor. If they include inferno SRMs that would be awesome for anti-vehicle work.

These could be alternate game modes seperate from the main game.

Well, I'd finde a gamemode simialr to MOBa Games (Dota, Lol, HoN) interesting, with tanks and fighters jets being the minions walking along their lanes ( but with a "bit" more variety of waypoitns please) and bases to defend/attack.

Otherwise: No. They aren't really viabel as players controlled vehicles imho.

YES.... but they should not be piloted by players like in MWLL. They should be limited NPC assets that can be controlled/ordered about by the Commander just like ordering up drones and artillery strikes.

Most vehicles have been and should be ridiculously easy to kill (inferno anyone?) which make them poor rides for players BUT if deployed well, could make for a new level of tide turning strategy.

At first blush, I like the idea of adding Aerotech. But as a separate phase. I think it would add a lot to what I hope the CW feature becomes. Jumpships, dropships, aerospace fighters? Yes please.

It might not be bad in a "I'm here to spectate this match kinda way"
Your corp in a match but due to drop limits, you're not actually able to play. I can see aeros as a fun way to spectate the match. I do understand that this would effectively cut out fog of war but the aeros wouldn't be able to directly broadcast target locations. They'd have to resort to TeamSpeak, Vent...

And why not slap on a puny little potato shooter to harass the other team with?
Real damage? No
Real fun? Sure!

the mwll aeros and tanks are completely imballanced and would be useless (for players) with TT rules.
aeros are (exept the realy small ones) mostly downed by crticals whitch can occure with any hit - unlike mechs. this is why i love the AC2.
tanks are most times immobilized with the first hits - tracks have no armor and cant be replaced in the battle...

edit: i would not like to see em - not even as npc - because their survival depends too much on luck...

As long as there are options for missions types that do not involve any or both vehicle types I think it would be fun. That way people who don't want to be bothered with Vehicles and Aerospace don't have to be and if you want the added spice/variety/challenge of the different unit types you can.

Mobility is the biggest advantage of Mechs over ground vehicles and over vtols a mechs advantage is usually in armor and firepower. And Aerospace gets to strafe but mechs get to concentrate fire more I guess. And it could provide more classic uses to some of the mechs such as the Rifleman and JagerMech which were both designed for anti-aircraft, or the provide reasons to add in more specialized mechs such as the Vulcan or (I don't want to say it) This. And as for the Vehicle longevity point from earlier just like mech it depends on a lot of factors and yes a lot of vehicles slag quickly many have armor and weapons capable of going toe to toe with mechs if their crew is good like the Rommel/Patton tanks and the Packrat LRPV is comparable to some scout mechs in armor speed weapons and tonage. For the armies of the sucessor states the advantage of vehicles was they are/were cheep when compared to mechs so they could field more. Some forces battle doctrines, such as Davion, operated mainly in combined arms forces with mechs infantry and vehicles. While i think it could be a cool thing to have that flavor added I think it should be optional and down the road if at all.

This could work...

Say we have a game mode where each side has a factory that makes tanks. Then the tanks are sent out along roads, say, one of three different roads (right, left, and center). And each side could have static turrets already in place to defend the roads. And the battlemechs would have to escort the tanks down the roads and protect them from enemy mechs so they could destroy the turrets and, eventually, the enemy's factory (thus winning the match!).

Or I could just go play DOTA, LOL, etc etc etc.

I wasn't suggesting a DOTA style game, I was suggesting those be included in the game, either as NPC assets, (like commander order in two squads of night-stalker helis) or people could pilot them. I'm not suggesting DOTA by any means. Seems silly to have a sci fi universe filled with so much, and implement so little

Maybe a light tank. There are a lot of heavy tanks with fusion engines that have as much armor as an assault mech.

WHAT IF, instead of them being something you chose to pilot at the beginning of the match, the tanks and helios are controlled by NPCs at the start, but then as players are eliminated they can choose to take control of a tank or chopper. That way, they can still be engaged in the match and would reduce a lot of rage quitting.

Hah! "You lost your mech? Okay. Jump in this tank and get back out there soldier. Be careful."

"You lost the tank? Uh. Well okay. We have one chopper left. Get moving and PLEASE be more careful."

"Lost the chopper didn't ya? Here's a ka-bar and a pack of mentos. You won't be coming back. Have fun!"
