Reworked Skill Tree:
https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing

Almost everything is directly taken from the existing skill tree but moved around and point expenditures adjusted. mostly reduced because who uses 5 points for arm pitch? It's 1 now for full benefit. Some values have been tweaked.

There are now 3 sections: Weapons, Mech Construction, and Ops
Each section has 3 or 4 tiers.
Unlocking higher tiers requires some expenditure in lower tiers. It's not a high barrier.
Some tiers have maximum point limits. pick what you want, but not everything
No skills are linked except for the tier structure itself.
Players should probably have about 65 points or less to spend total. Not 91 anyway.

Is it the best? Probably not. Definitely not. I'd make something else entirely if starting from scratch.
Is it better than what we've got? Yep.
FTFY.

Oh and the misc aux tree is nixed. Except enhanced narc.

Keep that as it is in the current game where you spend some gxp to boost consumables, and just say no to more than two consumables slots kids.

I'd certainly prefer a gated linear skill system like the one in your example to the node blob. I'm not 100% happy with some of your choices, but I think its a better framework for a skill system.

Sure. I threw it together in a couple hours and certainly there's room for tweaking etc.
The point is if they'd just scrap the web structure it suddenly becomes very easy to improve the skill trees.

It's depressing that PGI has people doing this as their job taking months to do it and if they'd just stop trying to reinvent the wheel and take a cue from other games they could have a much better framework with very little effort--but they seem to be too stubborn.

That's what I've been posting since day 1 of PTS 2.
https://mwomercs.com...le-alternative/

I don't agree with your Tier choices, branches and values, however Witcher 3 style structure makes a LOT of sense in MWO.

Current PTS tree is a child's room with toys all over the place together with junk, dirty clothes and pieces of food. The structure suggested here is like a library, where everything is on it's place.

BTW, Pyed, consider changing your poll a bit. Smth like this:
1. Do you like the structure suggested? (Y/N)
2. Do you like how skills, tiers and their values arranged?
I assume most of the 'No' in the poll are related to your skill/branch choices as I have a different results in my topic.

Those are good suggestions, and I definitely should have done that. I don't want to change this poll now that those votes are already in, but I'll try to make a better one next time.

I have a similar opinion to your tree as you do of mine--I disagree with some of the choices you've made, but the overall structure is vastly better than the hexaweb nonsense on the PTS. I love your imagery of the child's room.

Honestly what I really want is different skills entirely: https://mwomercs.com...age__p__5614417
but this time I wanted to show how even keeping the PTS skills as they are it's still easy to make a big improvement by rearranging how you get them.
