Once again it's time to check what mechs are in lead. Top 3 for each class.

IS Lights : Hollander -> Owens -> Wasp.
IS Mediums : Dervish -> Men Shen -> Chimera
IS Heavy : Crusader -> Avatar -> Argus
IS Assault : Marauder II -> Longbow -> Templar

Clan Lights : Fire Moth -> Locust IIC -> Urbie IIC
Clan Mediums : Shadowhawk IIC -> Griffin IIC -> NO OPINION -> Conjurer (does people want lore version or MW4 version?)
Clan Heavy : Rifleman IIC -> Grizzly -> NO OP--- Crossbow
Clan Assault : Stone Rhino -> Warhammer IIC -> Phoenix Hawk IIC

We can forget about IS omni, IIC mechs and other HG lawsuit related ones. And we can kind of forget IS assault and Clan Assaults, and Clan heavy. Oh and Fire Moth is currently impossible to implement.

IS Light : Hollander
IS Mediums : Dervish -> Chimera
IS Heavy -> Avatar -Argus

Clan Mediums : MAYBE Conjurer. Not sure using MW4 version will avoid lawsuit.

If we consider MW4 effect, It's either Hollander, Chimera or Argus.

So, GO Hollander!

The thing is that the Hollander wasn't even in MW4. MW4 did have the Hollander II, which is very different and it was only there because MekTek put it there.

The game where Hollander nostalgia really comes from is Mech Commander.

IS Lights: Stupid BAD --> BAD --> Could be interesting on a few variants
IS Mediums: Meh --> Could be good --> Eh maybe, but likely bad
IS Heavy: Solid --> likely bad due to Hit Boxes and isXL --> Meh.
IS Assault: Meh --> A few interesting variants --> could be interesting depending on how PGI models it

Those are my thoughts on the units you listed....

Like the Hollander is really bad... you can already mimic it in game (both the 35t and 45t variants), and no-one uses them, that should be a warring sign about the mech.... The Owens is in every way a worse Jenner.

I think the Argus has a decent shot at being an okay gundam. It's got high mounts all over and an emphasis on direct fire, plus a good engine cap.

Yes, original Hollander ONLY appeared on Mech Commander 2, ever, for a video game. For Mech Commander 1, it was also Hollander II.

Yes, I mean about Dervish and Avatar would lose because 2nd place mechs are from MW4.

It can be good if it gets quirks that would ridicule pre-nerf Grid Iron offensive quirks and Urbie-ish defensive quirks.

How about a 75 tonner with ballistics arms, no LAA, ECM & JJs? Hammerhands!

Granted, it wouldn't be as good as the Dragon Fire, but...

The Hammerhands looks cool but it's so painfully slow and doesn't have the high mounts, etc. Still if it weren't so slow it'd have much more potential.

If they add the Dragon Fire I'll pick it up if they keep the crotch cannon,it my only reason of messing with besides performance.

Full stop, if you are saying "it could be good with God Quirks!, stop and think about that, if the mech needs those kinds of quriks it is a warring sign to avoid it at all costs. PGI has been very reluctant to hand those out as of late, so hoping for them to make something viable is a bad practice to get into.

As it stands the 35t Hollander has one weapon, the Gauss Rifle, the 45t version at least has some back up weapons... The 45t version is still bad in MWO, just less bad than the 35t version.

Yep.

I like the look of the FLE-17, FLE-19, FLE-20 & Fire Ant, but will probably wait for the C-Bill release.

So it has 8B.

However, I must remind all you guys that Locust has already trouble putting four machineguns. You will have to downgrade engine to get enough ammo for 8 machineguns for Flea.

However, regardless, I will buy Flea when I get back home regardless.

Yep, same old IS problems.

Still, it's progress. Now if we could convince them to add a few Energy hardpoints to the Nightstar and/or Fafnir to compete with the MCII...

Or you know, they could add the actually good IS assault mechs that are left....

With little to no inflation, for that sweet spot of 2B 6E (or more!)
A by no means extensive list;
Gunslinger - 85 tons, 2B 7E, JJs, ECM
Templar - 85 tons, 4B 4E-7E, JJs, ECM, OmniMech
Emperor - 90 tons, 2B 5E, ECM
Cerberus - 95 tons, 4B 4E
Sagittaire - 95 tons, 2B 7E
Devastator - 100 tons, 2B 6E
Pillager - 100 tons, 2B 5E, JJs, ECM
Thunder Hawk - 100 tons, 3B 4E
Vanquisher - 100 tons, 2B 5E

I don't think any of the IS assaults can match the MCII honestly. Any good pilot becomes a god in it. The Nightstar is pretty good for an IS assault though.

Never said match the MC II, but a Sagittaire or Gunslinger could be good...

There are a couple real gems in here.
Sagitt in particular could be epic. It also has JJ but I'd probably take them off.
The Emp also has JJ, hopefully it wouldn't get low mounts too badly.
I quite like the Gunslinger, it's energy is high mounted and at 85t it gets 1t JJ.

However, honestly none of the will be on the same level as the MCII or Marauder IIc simply due to being too slow or lacking high mounts. The Cerberus can use a 400 so you could build around a 350 or 375 but you'll still struggle to match a MCII because Clan weapons are lighter, Clan FF & endo save more weight and takes less slots and Clan XL is totally better than LFE, etc.

The Cerb has super high shoulder mounts but it's arms are low-ish. The point is all of these would need quirks to compete. The Longbow NAIS could be excellent though. 6 cockpit height ballistics, 3 energy near the cockpit & ECM.

Haha I hope they make it a chin laser, it'd make it just that much better.

Sure but that's the standard these days. The Nightstar is actually fairly decent but obviously it doesn't compare to a MCII or Marauder IIc.
