Thankfully it has more than one variant. Including one stock using a heavy gauss rifle high on one torso.

But hey, it’s Unseen, it’s original to the very beginning of Battletech, and it has the most votes of any IS heavy in the suggestions forum threads. Nuff said.

Yeah because we don't have any 65 tonners that can put a heavy gauss in one torso. BTW that variant has an XL engine and Heavy Gauss...

Unfortunately you might be right. I just hope it doesn't completely seal the fate of not getting any more mech packs. Because you know... it won't sell well. Kind of like how the Grand Dragon flopped.

I'm pretty sure that fate's already been sealed given that we haven't gotten any new 'mechs in three years.

Anyway, I've recently found myself going from "only interested in Clan assault battlemech power creep Phoenix Hawk IIC" to "would also buy a Perseus for the lulz".

Yeah, that's the real downside. Much as we all want these mechs, there's nobody in PGi assigned to making them. And since they just officially released their game plan for "do nothing and milk the game for cash", we're not likely to see any more 3D models. They teased at one a few months back, and that one is likely to be the Bull Shark since HBS already made a compatible model for it for a Battletech DLC.

But since that hasn't come to pass yet either, perhaps that was just an overenthusiastic promise with no teeth. We shall see.

Well, we do get Crusader in the end. Not sure the release schedules of any future mechs though.

Obviously a lot will depend on how well the Crusader does. If it does well that's going to incentivize more new mechs. For the Crusader I'll say the 14 energy 6T is a very important variant to add.

It's also important that you can pick which variant is c-bill boosted. Another reason that previous packs sold more poorly than necessary: the collector's variant is usually a bad or the worst variant.

The established tradition is for the first/original variant to be the collector's, so in the case of the Crusader that's gonna be a hard sell.

This is the part where I shamelessly plug the idea to use cockpit items for collector bonuses instead of predetermined variants. Maybe somehow limit the items to only be mountable on all the variants of the intended chassis (i.e. Crusader collector cockpit item can be put in any Crusader variant, including possible future ones, but not other chassis).

I for one am ready to gas up Gas Guzzler and agitate for his kingfisher. I'd like to drive that thing around. A hypertanky clan assault brawler sounds like an absolute joy.

Twenty-four tons of pod space on a ninety-ton assault 'Mech feels like a recipe for Gargoyle Problems, especially as most of the variants center around a moderate number of heavier weapons rather than the profusion of smaller junk that allows the Gargoyle to just barely qualify as a real 'Mech. The Kingfisher is robust ay-eff to be sure, and Endo/Ferro at least means it's not leaving tonnage on the table, but those three 'extra' fixed external DHS are an issue, as is the giant engine everybody will hate.

To be fair, the art for the thing is heckin' nice. It's more-or-less a ninety-ton Omni Kodiak, just...with half-ish the payload space. Perhaps it could be made maneuverable enough to not be agonizing to pilot in exchange for its poor firepower. Still a better choice than the poor Turkina.

We said much the same about the executioner, which is a fairly top-tier assault. It needed quirks though. Either the Turkina or Kingfisher would again be much the same; slightly esoteric and in need of polite, but firm quirking.

I'd take a Turkina that was capable of jumping. By that i mean that there are jump capable direwolves, if you're generous with the definition of jumping. If the Turkina is to be worth something, it needs an edge over the direwolf, that edge should be extremely powerful jumpjets, and maybe dramatically reduced fall damage to boot.

I'd take the kingfisher if they really leaned into the durability. It is undergunned. It has a fixed, large standard engine. I see no reason anyone would want it unquirked or only gently quirked. It would just be a strictly worse executioner. If it must be undergunned, make it next to indestructible. Make it tankier than a kodiak. Make it fun.

I still demand Hollander. Although I understand PGI does not want to make a mech that would have poor sale.

(Or is it? It is well known people buy stuffs not for performance reason though...)

If they can make an UrbanMech into a viable machine, they can certainly do the same for the Hollander.

Almost no one uses stock ’Mechs, and even among those who do, I’ve yet to meet one who uses a stock Urbie. All the Hollander needs is some empty hardpoints for people to fill so they aren’t stuck being just a walking Gauss Rifle with it. lol

The entire point of the Hollander is it's oversized gauss rifle. Inflation follows the locations and types of weapons so the 35t Hollander has nothing to offer MWO.

However there is the 45t Hollander II which could provide some value.

I’d argue the entire point of the Urbie is its absurdly slow engine and big autocannon, but that didn’t stop MWO from divorcing it from that identity in terms of customization. How many Urbies do you see losing footraces to Atlases these days? Posted Image

The Hollander could in theory be given something crazy like 8-12 ballistic hardpoints all in that one side torso, but the "dynamic" geometry on that would look completely ugly and ruin any aesthetic the mech would've had.

If we were to get the Hollander 1 in MWO, I'd rather keep the hardpoint count low but crank up the offensive quirks to 11 (more than the Spider 5V) and of course plenty of armor.
