This thread is all about one of the potentially strongest IS heavies available, the Dragon Fire.

This is what it brings,

300xl (360 cap)
ECM
Arms:
X1 Gauss
X1 LBX10

X2 Mpl
X1 LLas
For sure there will be some inflation but with this that's 2B & 3E +ECM. I don't think it farfetched to say inflation could create a ballistic and energy focused variants


As you can see almost all of it's weapons are cockpit height or just above the cockpit (Except for it's phallus cannon, don't be jealous). Also the arms would be decent for spreading damage and it has a narrow frontal profile. Basically, it'd probably spread dmg with the best of them and be XL safe or increase the longevity of a LFE.

Anyway, I hope you can see the potential of this mech not just for how powerful it'd be in game but also for how cool Alex could make it look.

Now that PGI had fulfilled the wishes of the old nostalgics, it is time to give the Inner Sphere some serious meta mechs, such as the Dragon Fire and the Sagittaire.

While I wouldn't dislike the introduction of the Dragon Fire now that there has been a time jump, I do question the bringing a mech into the game simply because it is "potentially the strongest".

Especially in multiplayer games, a middling out of effectiveness, seeking to balance the game, should be the real goal. Not this power-creep. Not one-upping the last guy.

No IS mech will ever bring power creep, unless over-quirked. Clan tech is just that superior.

I wouldn't call this power creep but rather power equalizing. Most Clan chassis are straight up better than their IS counterparts and then they have better equipment as well.

I've been thinking about the various polls and it's clear nostalgia is a major force for these things. However there's a notable number that would like a strong mech to be released.

I think everyone that'd like a strong mech should band together and support a mech or two so that our voices may be heard. Obviously I propose the DFire.

Its getting a huge nerf with the skill tree if I recall, and honestly is only a QoL feature in quick play, as far as absolute power, its not really a game breaker. In this case, its just another nice thing on top of a solid chassis.

Seriously though, they should put a flamer on the rear, opposite the crotch gun. That way it could fart fire. OMG I'm loving this thing already!

I gotta say, Arisen and Gas Guzzler are coming up with some fantastic candidates for future mechs. I'd vote in your poll, but there are so many choices that I don't know much about, and I don't want to inadvertently choose an assmech.

At any rate, Sarna.net has everything you need to know. Search the 'Mech, and it will show you a picture and what it has on it. If it has high hardpoints, narrow torso, and a focus on energy and ballistics , it will be good.

If you want the cliff-notes, the Dragonfire is the, bar none, best IS Heavy in the poll. Lynx is the best Medium. Sagittaire is the best Assault. Lights are all whatever, sidegrades from what we have (but the Raptor can fit 11 lasers :x).
