Here's an example from the Timber Wolf itself: Even the variant with missile hardpoints on the ST's won't have the boxes if you don't put missiles there.
i know the concept of the timber or Ebony. but this is a Inner mech the CPTL will have it's ears even without putting on launchers, lasers. like many other Inner mechs the gemetry basic stay the same.

The Mad Cat MKII is a Clan mech. It was built by Clan Diamond Shark. They can build Battlemechs AND Omnimechs. Battlemechs have a history of not having the boxes for their missile launches when they don't have missiles attached. Ex. The Warhammer.

The difference is that the Catapult's "ears" are its entire arms, if you removed the boxes, it wouldn't really have arms anymore, so they can't really do that.
For the Mad Cat, the ears are part of the torsos and can be easily removed without borking up the mech...
Also, the Mad Cat mk2 is a Clan mech. Stop saying it's an IS mech.
Seriously dude. STOP and THINK for a bloody second.

AFAIK, they won't be ears, and instead just in the lower nose area like the MGs and lasers on the normal Timber Wolf.

I find it quite odd that it has 3/4 JJ's(probably not removable), most likely as useful as on Supernova or Executioner, just stealing pod space. Also it seems it has around 500 points of armor total, that is comparable with Gargoyle.
You can remove the HoverJets™
Class I's are unlikely to be fixed by July

The number of ST E hardpoint is no greater than 2 which means that they will be located right under the cockpit just as the concept art suggests.
I'll be mightily surprised if the Hero have different ST hardpoint layout compared to the original.

Also reading the forums makes me less surprised with how many potatoes you see in matches TBH
"It's a hero omni so you can swap to have ears right"
"No, it is a clan battlemech"
"So it's IS?"
._.

And that I am sad that the actual Dathstrike will never look like that, because it lacks the missile-pods.
Sooo... anyone else kinda sad about this?
(Yes, I know: missile = hitboxes, you want to get rid of them, so I should be glad. If this is the only thing you want to say about this, then be aware that this post is not addressed to you.)
Any chance we can convince PGI to let us get this paintjob for the other Madcat MKII's as well (provided you bought the Hero, of cause)?
Can anyone (who cares about this issue) with Twitter poke Russ or Alex?
"actual"
It could be the boxes stay there, but as empty boxes (as happens on some mechs, for example the kgc)

There will be community outrage if they stay there as empty boxes because that does not happen to the timber wolf.

That must not be because the Hero doesn't even have any Missile hardpoint.
BTW the KGC's case is a bit different since its missile pod has another housing which is part of the body and not an extension like on Timberwolf or Mad Cat Mk. II. The missile pod(s) on KGC does disappear when you are not mounting any missile.
