A Friendly Reminder Regarding Appropriate Language

I'm also of the opinion that using once heavily offensive words often and in a joking or friendly manner is better than banning all use of the word. It takes all power away from those who would actually use it for its original purpose and turns it into a joke, thus defeating the opposition.
I'm also a nutjob who actually likes the CSGO community, one thing that occasionally brings me back to that game even though I dislike its mechanics.

No, it doesn't. Ask any lawyer.
There is no federal obscenities law in the U.S. No idea about Canada. In he US the last obscenity case heard by the Supremes was Miller v. California in the early 70's wherein Burger's "community standards...appeals to the prurient interest" language was put forth. Good luck providing providing a "community standard" on the internet.

Oh dear god, please no. I'd much rather have PGI ban you and leave the people who type a few mean words in chat left alone. You can turn chat off. Please ban the OP. We can say whatever we want over chat.
PGI has rules that say otherwise. You CANNOT say anything you want. In fact, there are even laws in America that prohibit certain types of speech, such as hate speech and any speech that creates "clear and present danger."
Albeit those cases are very narrowly defined.
But PGI's servers are the property of PGI. You only get to use them if you follow the rules of decorum.
Hey, the rules aren't even strict. It's easy to NOT say something incendiary. It's called respect.
For my part, I have a high tolerance. An occasional bit of foul langauge is ignored. Persistant and pervasive vulgar words get reported. So do racial slurs and the like. It's simple.

On this server, the only standards that matter are PGI's. Federal laws and protections for speech do not apply. Those only prohibit government censorship. PGI is not a government; it is a private enterprise. Their servers - Their rules.

No, there aren't. Other countries sure, but not the US.

Sure. That's not happening in MWO voip or text chat...

True. And I'm making my argument on their forum that the rules and our (players') interpretation of the rules ought to err on the side of free speech, particularly as the rules are enforced almost entirely through community self-policing and reporting.
Ultimately it's still up to PGI.

Its totally out of control eg bah bah rainbow sheep just cause you cant say the colour black or fun in kookaburra as gay might offend, gay originally meant happy but modern times have put a different spin on it
Wake up to yourselves and get a life and stop worrying over nothing and stop being so thin skinned and insecure

why most certainly sir, i would love a good quad gaussing, have not had the pleasuer of a quad gauss in many o moons.)
while these monchi'chi toes sniffers go about their pleasantries and kosher game play, they start to expect others to do the same . and when they are called a platypus's snagle puss, they get all upset and report for a ban .
because we cant have a bunch of surly fraggle power puffers smack talking one another. because ya know da' feelz man da' feelz... they be'z realz. and ya cant go around hurt'n da feelz.
Bob marley wrote a song about .
Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy
Don't worry, be happy now
don't worry
(Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh) be happy
(Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh) don't worry, be happy
(Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh) don't worry
(Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh) be happy
(Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh) don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The landlord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Oh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh don't worry, be happy
ANd dont be some tribble posterior and go try correcting the information we all know there's to much fake news these days to verify facts reliably. one must do their due diligence and trust teh forums !!
