Please tell everyone why a shooter should not have immersion? Where is that design law written, preferably in stone? Posted Image

The playerbase has rejected immersion effects such as night/day, clutter, fog, and large maps that give you time to look at the scenery. They did this through voting. The playerbase obviously thinks this is a shooter where we destroy each others mechs and maps and gamemodes with distracting effects are a waste of time. Its world of tanks with mechs. Dont you realize that yet? If PGI wants to use these new maps for MW5 then more power too them. Bring back the old maps like frozen city, forest colony, mordor, where we can actually brawl. The playerbase overwhelmingly votes for the old maps whenever available in my experience. No one likes sitting there waiting on the snipers and lurmboats to get done before the real fight actually starts.

I don't really mind escort, but yeah having the AI work on all maps is best. :3

Because maybe the VIP pilot isn't a...wait for it...pilot? Maybe it is just some dignitary dropped into a mech with mucho armor on auto pilot. Maybe there is a bathroom in the Atlas.

See what happens when you use imagination. And potatoes...they always follow the lead french fry. Now maybe you could become that lead french fry. Or maybe you are just a potato, bigger than other potatoes but still a potato, among other potatoes waiting for a french fry to follow.

I don't listen to people that lead to my destruction.

Of course, ignore the voices in your head. I mean, it's gotten you this far right?

Given that C-bills, PSR, and XP are heavily based around how much damage you do, the guys who just cap the base without fighting are the true idiots. They're wasting everyone's time because you end up getting literally nothing out of the match. If they wanted the game mode to revolve around capturing bases then they should pay me to capture a base. They don't, hence why I go out and shoot people then play the mini-game afterwards.

Thats why when my team gets base rushed, i just state in All Chat, 'dont defend base, if they only want to win 25k Cbills let them"

You would be surprised how often that gets them back to the fight.

And if they do cap, "enjoy your 25k".

I am so tired of hearing people whine about Escort that I can barely even give a coherent response anymore. And to top it off, if it reduced the frequency of the most over-played maps in the game... GOOD! What I've noticed is that those maps have finally become fun again after not being forced to do them 20 times in a row.

Slowly learning to like escort. There's more movement and interaction beyond "our shooties here versus your shooties there". Sure there are things that could be improved, but overall it gives a nice change of pace, especially when you're teamed up with people who realise there's more to it than just forming a shooty line of robots.

I don't know what's worse, base rushes or getting back to your base and seeing assaults sitting on it

I don't think there were any base rushes since PGI introduced the mechanic where shooting mechs inside the zone stops the cap.

I think the Escort mode has a great dynamic in group queue - securing the ECM towers can turn the tide of battle. Finally a task a light mech can perform. And yes, almost every light mech can destroy a turret in one alpha (15 damage).

Clearly you haven't played canyon, mining, or caustic lately

Which would be likely because escort removes them from rotation

The hole just gets deeper and deeper

I play mainly in group queue and can't recall the last time I lost due to cap.
Killing the cappers is easy like shooting fish in a barrel. You can move and shoot from cover - they can't.

This event has made me realize (as all loot bag events do), that I don't have enough time to play/week. I've got 1 non qualifying match but only about 20 matches played :( .

You can have some of my Ireland flags, if you'd like

I've won a dozen of them

No. It doesn't exist. That's the point of the thread. Viridian Bog too, feel like there may be another.

Fixing NV and thermal modes might help there. NV is rarely used at all. Thermal is only used when there's jungle blocking your view, and even then it isn't used a ton.

Are you kidding? Even with SweetFx and setting gamma and brightness to map/time every match, I use thermal close to half the time on many maps, as do many players.

And more players don't use it at all. Thermal gimps how far you can see by a massive amount, and I see just fine without it, the exception being dense foliage with friendlies around. Other than that, it's never any real advantage. It also makes hit boxes harder to distinguish.

If those players never use it, they might want to watch a few videos of high level players and see what advantages it does confer.
