Depends on the sensitivity of your mouse, your play style and to an extent which mech you are in.

Acceleration to zero ALWAYS (your reticle floats otherwise). Start sensitivity to 50% and adjust according to taste.

Mine is 0% and 40% respectively.

I use .79 in game and 1800 dpi mouse that I will modulate between 1600 and 2000, so much more sensitive than many many people. However, I'm used to more twitch FPS and have always favored higher sensitivity settings.

There is a thread by Tarogato which looks at a lot of competitive players mouse settings.

Depending on resolution, try lowering the sensitivity to like 0.2 or less in game and ~600dpi.

0.2 in game and 800 dpi seems to be the most common setting for proper aim. I have an old razer deathadder 3.5G that does 450/900/1800/3500 which I leave on 900 and use 0.17 in game.

Depends on your mouse. Generally speaking, for high dpi mice, you want to max out your dpi setting, then change the sensitivity in game to a very low number. This gives you the smoothest input instead of your mouse hopping around like it's following an invisible graph paper overlay.

MWO accuracy benefits from lower sensitivity than most games. Your mechs have a set rate of traverse speed (how quick you turn from the torso.) Having a sensitivity where any input maxes out your traverse speed means your cursor will always be jumping around "catching up" to where you told it to go. You want a sensitivity under that. This means you have to do larger mouse drags to turn a long ways, but this is way less important considering it's at a fixed rate anyway. If you want to see the difference, just max out sensitivity and you'll see exactly what I mean.

When you stop wiggling your lasers around and can keep it on target reliably then you probably have your sensitivity set right.

No accel, it messes with your hand's muscle memory for how far you have to move to have a constant response

I currently run:
  • Mouse Sensitivity: .8
  • Smooth .25
  • Acceleration 0
The smooth I find very helpful when doing precise aiming as your pointer jumps far less. .8 feels about right with the DPI and resolution I have going. Smooth though I can't praise it enough, just a bit of it can keep you from having aiming issues at extreme range, more so with advanced zoom.

I have a mouse with adjustable sensitivity. Sniping, regular and slow assault mechs/general windows browsing (slow/med/fast).

It's worth noting this game's acceleration settings are weird. Stay away from it.

My Logitech MX Anywhere 3 settings (shown in Win10 computer) does not show the actual DPI, just a relative slider with numercal values :(

whatever the default is works fine with my el cheapie 2 button usb mouse and since I use lights aiming doesn't matter as much as holding down the w key does.

This is probably the best way to get butter smooth mouse movement as it directly impacts how often the mouse pointer updates. Most are set to 1000ms which is fine for most games but shooters need a much finer granularity.

As to settings I leave them at the default middle of the road and use my mouse software to set a range of sensitivity that I can access via extra mouse buttons.
