ahhh kind of sad we didnt get 1v1 and 2v2. 8v8 just feels like the normal group q.

They should remove normal group Q for competitive queue.

Just announced:
Competitive mode for MWO. ( ranked Mode)
Register as a team of up to 12
Can freely switch players on team except for certain locked leadups to events.

Play as a group of 8 vs other groups of 8
Expect harsh matchmaking Posted ImagePosted Image
Prior to game, map elimination screen
After map ban, able to choose mechs
So far will be owned mechs, until they move to a locked server prior to worlds.

Not server locked.
If you are constantly playing on other timezone servers, increases weighting of playing on your local server.

Would be used to rank for MWO worlds

Then the MWO Leagues brought up the following problems with Comp play ( not balance but things that help leagues)

Ap teams also put togeather this one

they talked for about a second about balance, told people it was not about mech balance. Russ did say they were stretched thin on development though. Hope they don't over-reach and try to do too much

Except for when, you know, it isn't. Like after the great PPC nerf of 2014, LPL/ML or cLPL/cERML was the way to go on both sides. It really hasn't always been the meta, its just that right as Clans were getting great PPFLD mechs like the KDK, they

Right now, it is.

This MRBC season is going to be awash with Gyrs/KDK3/HBKIICs with Gauss & Peeps enmasse. IMO this season will see more clan mechs than last season, which was already a high percentage.

I think you meant KDK-3s/MAD-IICs/NGRs/HBK-IICs/HMNs/ACHs
Chances are the duplicates will be Night Gyrs considering how close in performance HBK-IICs and Huntsman are and considering how powerful both the KDK-3 and MAD-IIC are.

I think most are, granted it is better than the constant cSPL rushes we keep seeing in the Star League imo.

It got that bad, huh?

I do question why a league called "Star League" is even allowing Clan 'Mechs.

Clans are infact the direct successor of the star leauge. A twisted, evil and abominable version, sure, but still ...

I would support removing group Q if they do 1v1 2v2 8v8 and 12v12 comp q. 12 v12 games might be really hard to get but they could always go-to cw.

Some maps are still tradey, but there is a definite slight towards push drop decs. Even if it weren't cSPLs, it would be SRMs, LPL/ML rushes.

A comp queue won't ever be that split, which is why the new ranked mode will be 8v8 only.

i suggest you re-read my posts again. "forward, revealing and honest" are exactly zero attributes i'm advocating. objective, yes. those three, no.

also, i actually don't expect russ to be... anything. good leaders are good leaders, average leaders are average, and mediocre leaders are mediocre. what i expect russ to be has nothing to do with what objectively makes good leaders.

and like i said before, being polite, while nice, has no effect on whether the points brought up make sense.
the objective of being nice and polite in business is to gain contacts and build network for future business/employability. a completely different spectrum of objectives from what this round table is supposed to achieve. this is more like a client-vendor meeting. and if the client (comp players) are unhappy with the vendor's (PGI) product/service, it is their right to voice it however they want. should they be polite? yes. do they HAVE to be polite? objectively, no. that's the nature of the beast when one side is trying to get the other the open their wallets.

and that is his perogative.

Ok, I will put it like this. I am a very large human. At 6'6" and over 350lbs with very broad shoulders and been working in the construction industry at a job that benefits from my being much stronger than an average person. Previously I worked in the IT industry dealing with hedgefund managers specifically helping them with CRM software. As well I have worked in the US as private security contractor. Oh as an important side note, I no longer do IT or security directly due to poor life choices which led me to be acquainted with the legal system and incarceration.

This life experience has given me a wide range and scope of different people and different power dynamics.

Now, people do not have to be polite to me. It is however in their best interest that they are. If you are in contact with powerful alpha types in your profession, and they really appreciate candor and directness above all, and do not dictate the terms to how they are to be dealt with or demand a certain level of respect, then cherish your unique experience. It is also possible that you are incredibly good at what you do and that your skillset is rare. That would be another situation that I am familiar where an individual was able to sidestep social norms in big shiney brass balls land.

During the round table the game staff informed the viewers that even during prime time, on the weekend, this game lacks sufficient players to prevent Tier 1 players from ending up in matches with Tier 5 players.

I had to see it for myself this Saturday to really take it in. This situation needs to be solved even if it means increasing the wait time for a match from less than 30 seconds to something longer.

This isn't new news to anyone that has dropped regularly.

It's just that people don't understand the population gap and skill to realize why inevitably you will get carried by EmP and others or get screwed over by RNGTeam that you've never heard of.

It only gets worse and amplified despite people wanting an MM for FP/CW.

Map design
Some spawn layouts, terrain layouts, and objective layouts lend an unfair advantage to one team over the other. This is not the same as asymmetrical gameplay where there is fair give and take. Think Domination on Alpine Peaks. Access to Viridian Bog's central plateau prior to the rework. Small obstacles interfering with maneuvers. Draw distance issues failing to render distant terrain.

This is one of my bigger concerns for a competitive mode.

Getting an automatic disadvantage based on the side you spawn on is actually one the worst things to happen in this game.
