I have given examples of when I've been harrassed for having LRMs in this thread but honestly I don't give a damn. It's a game. On the internet. With strangers. My philosophy in life is to give zero fcks about what strangers think about you. The only opinions about me that matter are the one I have of myself, the opinions of my loved ones, and the opinions of people who have the power to screw me over (e.g. my boss). Everyone else can cry me a river if they don't like what I'm doing.

Because it's always frustrating when you bring 100% and someone on your team brings 30% while saying "hey, my feet hurt alreasy, you guys need to carry me." Yes, there's a lot of bad builds, weapons and decisions people can bring. LRMs are just the really obvious ones so when someone has been getting sandbagged out every match for a week and they snap it's likely on the obvious LRM guy.

The "but I'm a 733t Snyper!!11!" is just as likely to lose you the match, they're just usually not as obvious.

When I can be bothered with the workload, or I'm playing on my potato laptop down a potato connection I will play lurms. I know I build well for lrm's, play them aggressively, and have never had any 'hate' for that. In fact, I was recruited by my current unit on the strength of my lrm skills, and had two players friend me this week to ask advice about lrm builds.

It just has a lot to do with the behaviour of some lrm players, not the weapon system itself, even though they do get conflated. You can spot a bad lurmer from their build easily, but many of the dudes hating on lrm players wouldn't know a good lrm build if they saw one.

They are a high workload weapon system that stretches your battlefield awareness to the max. When I'm feeling lazy, and want an easier game I just play whack-a-mole laser vomit or gauss ppc.


That said, I have been guilty, while driving my HBK-4J of hating on the dude that brought 4 x lrm 15 King Crab. If you are going to do them, do them properly.

The real hate is actually for potato play and if theres one weapon system that symbolises or represents the idiots on the team its for sure the LRMs. LRMs is just the easy target to blame and hate...

I don't do it often, and I've never been griefed when I do, but maybe I'll get lucky tonight. I've never TKed any one with Lrms, but I'm willing to give it the ole college try if warranted.

Other than being a necro, imo no one hated on the lurmer. "Get your own locks" is a perfectly valid response that the lurmtato took badly.

Out of the two parties, its clear that the lurmer was the one being a passive aggressive ******

Yes but the TK normally happens inside 180m. Needs to be a Clan LRM boat.
