Nice response PGI, I am very happy with the addition of additional variants.
My only critique is the nerf to to Shadow Cat, it is absolutely lovely, the best looking of the lot, but sadly now it lost that something special that made it a must buy. I think I will still get it on looks alone, but I was really looking forward to starting my Shadow Cat collection with this rather unique, non c-ERL, c-PPC one.

PLEASE make hero pods available for CBills if you own it right at launch, so that I can buy multiple left torsos for my EBJ's without having to play musical omnipods. This is the biggest frustration from owning the Cinder and others right now. (Unless you've changed it since then, and I missed it). For all other players, the pods should be available for MC (at a rate where the cost of the pods in total equal the cost of the variant in MC/the total number of pods (8) ). That way players can still get unique loadouts without having to buy the full mech if they are not interested in outright buying the hero variant, and you won't have to jump through the P2W forum flame ring quite as much since PGI's gives away enough free MC that any player can earn enough to buy the odd omnipod.

On the MC note, please allow for the buying of skills with MC in the new Skill Tree. (Some players would love to give you more money, and I am not alone in this view).

/Aside: Great Event, can't wait to get home and start on it.

garbage! 1 missile hard point makes its useless and wont see the light of day on EXE. then you reward bad behavior and give a better laser vomit build...... play your own game. just play it.
I guess thanks for listening that it was pay to win but why not just allow those pods to be able for cbill purchase later down the road..... nice easy fix.

6xSPL 4xSRM6A build might be good'ish that can be build on both Hero Gargles and Exe.

Good changes overall, but the GAR and EXE probably needed those missile hard points (still probably won't beat a Spirit Bear, Scorch, AS-7S or the upcoming Mad Cat Mk. II with regards to splat builds, because of limited tonnage, but would've been nice options). Also, I'm ok with the SHC having one less missile on the RT, but I think giving it an omnipod with 2M or 3E on the LT would give players a real, meaningful choice (ECM versus more firepower).

Also, I hope PGI is going to add some variants on the existing IS Mechs as well.

Good call avoiding paywalling the best options. I pledge to spend to balance up the locked wallet whiners. :-) seriously, nothing was lost, it was just made accessible. Thanks!

So will all those who complained suddenly open their wallets? I hope so, if not then it'd show that pandering to certain elements who wouldn't buy your product anyway is a bad business decision as it alienates everyone else.

Closes mine...and I probably have outspent many of those complainers combined during the past year.

I just caught wind of the news, and I'm absolutely worse than angry. I'm an F2P, yet I totally can't get why PGI caved to P2W whiners with HardPoint Nerfing/Changing, as they should NEVER have done that! Instead, they should have simply made the additional OmniPods available for either (C-Bills, equal to any of the other Variants of a Chassis) or a minor (MC, and something within a maximum of 100 or less) cost, after a certain delay of time passing. It would have been a hell of a lot better than the path they have chosen, which has instead caused more undue alienation within their player base. As it stands anyway, the (C-Bill) Booster and Special Camo is specially attached to the Hero Variant's Center Torso, so there should NOT have been any arguments over P2W due to those being non-negotiable, unlike how the OmniPods can easily be made purchasable instead of needing an unnecessary nerfing.

Hell, anyone want to point me to the other forum thread that I missed out on? I figured everything would be fine, then this bloody conflagration happened! Geez! -_-

Even making pods available separately would be a slap into the face of IS Hero buyers. IS favoring players have to pay for the full package/mech, why shouldn't Clan favoring players? No cherry picking for anyone.

If this is aimed at me, and what I said...

...please note that I pointed at totally delaying further access to those OmniPods for the people who didn't directly purchase the Hero Mechs and/or MechPacks containing them. I very much want, even though I am an F2P, for those who spent Real $$$ on the MWO game to get their full value's worth from their purchase before others can come jumping into the pool to compete. Also, I noted that it could be done as either (C-Bills), or (MC) if PGI is unwilling to release for the latter, just as long as the (MC) price isn't exorbitantly high in comparison to the (C-Bill) OmniPod value. Further, I expect that the Inner Sphere will soon enough have OmniMechs of their own to play around with, as I would expect nothing less from PGI to balance out that alternate long-standing complaint. Heck, referencing myself again...

..., I can safely point out right here that anyone who pays Real $$$ or huge amounts of (MC) will always have additional value to enjoy from their Non-(C-Bill) Mech Variant, while the rest of us who didn't pay will have to scrounge for what we get. So, there really isn't any quote-unquote "Cherry Picking" being left to be had. Plus, isn't part of what you spent supposed to be value gained by helping keep the company and its' employees alive? Otherwise, how would you enjoy doing Drop Groups with PGI's Staff?

Nicely done, PGI. Full credit where credit is due.

This alleviates my concern and re-opens my wallet.

Thank you for stepping back from the P2W slippery slope.

As a passionate Mechwarrior and highly-invested customer, I think this is a wise business decision, and it gives me much greater optimism for the future.

well no point in buying the shc hero anymore should've kept the 2 missle rt and just mirrored it for the cbill variant, not spending 15 bucks for a 1 energy 1 ballistic ra. I mean you can give ach 6 ballistic points but shc cant have a 2 missle?

wasn't the whole outrage of getting a cbill variant of the heros so ppl could get the same omnipods as the heroes but not spend real money on it?

what exactly is ruined?

addressing p2w possibilities this way is a good thing and aways a valid concern, imho all that "heroes" should do is is the bonus and special cmao, and possibly special gemoetry. but they should not alter gameplay.

Any thoughts on doing this for the Kit Fox? The Purifier is way more out of sync with the other variants than any of these mechs.

yes because the few E hardpoints the exe had were so insufficient that it now is going totally to own evertyhing. The exe has more than enough E hardpiints and an additional one will hardly be used.

Great news! And nice that you piranhas have taken our concerns to consideration.

SHC-H

LT
1 Missile

Thanks PGI, thats EXACTLY what I missed regarding loadout options from the Scats.
Now I can roleplay Sigma 2 from MW4 vengeance and not die to missile fire and nonfunctional LAMS Posted Image

I might have missed a bit, but there seems it will also be a
Shadow Cat SHC-Q??

Typo?

Still want a unique Mad Dog with at least 2 energy hardpoints, but save that for a new line of almost identiacal MDD, MDDMk II, also omni, all with high up arms like the Mad Cat MK II as in MW4, though very close in function and looks to the original MDD. All variants should have CT hardpoints.

Similar, shorter shield arms.

And yeah, I will buy the Shadow Cat hero now, and certainly get the in-game one aswell.

Yes! Everyone is celebrating the nerfing of the Heroes. Well, buying a Hero is what many lore players do, to have something special. Not everyone has to buy it or cry because they are 'cheapskates' who don't want to pony up $20. Thanks to them I just saved over $100 as I can buy them for c-bills and keep the F2P spirit alive; no more needing to invest money and buy when I can grind and get it for free.

I just hope PGI can keep the game running without player investors.

Civil War packs (and all mech packs for that matter) I'll also pass on buying, as they will eventually be out for c-bills, and probably nerfed long before the release. (not to mention the rule of 3 and mech quirks going away with new skill tree as PGI stated was the purpose of the new skill tree).

Well those 8xMG builds sure came out of nowhere. Definitely deflects some attention off other mechs that gain an extra E or M hard point ;)

@ 8 MG builds:
I'll see my SHC-P whining in the corner.
(Not that I had been playing it much anyway.)

But overall, I approve of the changes!
Just saw Kanajashi's comment on them, and I have to agree with the wish that next time things are released "p2w-proof" from the beginning without all the discussions and refunds needed.
Even more considering the time line jump offering access to newer variants.

Yeah it would be nice if they could run them past some meta-savvy players first and see what the reaction is.

As always, my favorite example is the KDK-3 and Spirit Bear having full quirks (mobility, armor etc.) at launch when the KDK-1 and -5 didn't have any. The laser arms were not what made the Kodiak scary Posted Image

100% full credit for them being willing to take feedback and apply changes. Some people will criticize them for this, but I think it's just sensible behavior to ensure the final product is a positive addition to the game. Forethought is ideal, but willingness to take constructive criticism is also a good thing.
