Cheating And Accusations Thereof.

Still there is cheating, we know this because PGI has let us know, but not often enoph, so the rumors prosiest. The cheaters are usually single individuals, or some group that you never heard of suddenly tearing up the IS (cheaters are usually clanners because better is better). For example I play this game almost every day about the same time. starting 2 days ago I started running into group X ( I wont call them out, hopefully PGI will). I ran into one guy that killed 3 heavy mechs with 1 clan mech, each time with next to no damage. He only ejected when he ran out of ammo. His Mad dog seemed impenetrable. Upon further inspection many in his group did the same...was this a cheater, looks like it. Mad dogs are not known as "the Tanky mech". Ironically in the second match against them that day I went looking for X player and found a mad dog, he went down in the usual manner, except my mistake it was someone who was not in his unit. moments latter I met up with X and he dispatched my fourth mech handily. Thus making the second mach that day that X has killed 3 of my mechs with one Mad dog ( the fourth mech was killed by another player).
The point is PGI has needs to become more proactive about making it harder for the cheaters and more fierce about shamming the ones they catch publicly. Thus keeping the new players...so that they become payers ( face it PGI is not a charity they need to pay people) while also keeping good players from facing constant baseless accusations.
I want to know what you the community (forumwarriors need not apply) so we can help PGI make this the kind of game we all want it to be.

Have you got any? Probably not, like all others before you.
Sadly most of the "hackusationists" are coming from people that are, just, not good.
Hackers are rare, very rare. Most are easily identified and banned. It's not an issue the morons around here would make people believe.

He was just fighting Potato, who couldn't kill a MadDog
They do ban cheaters occasionally, as the reports trickle in, or their own detection finds them
They've also said they keep a few around (the Terribads, even with Haxors) to monitor the software changes over time.

I'm on to you.
Teasing aside cheating in the game is rare.... but it does happen. The proactive approach they had for a bit was great - it just didn't last.
While I would love regular updates with who got banned for cheating the problem is it just helps the people making the cheats identify how they are getting caught. I'm not sure how best to address it - i just want confirmation that PGI aggressively investigates cheating and bans those who do.

On another note:
Anyone else think that PGI should allow us to name and shame convicted cheaters?

Huh? Most players don't record every match. Not saying anything one way or the other about hackusations, just saying evidence is hard to come by.

Getting videos of cheaters isn't easy you have to be at thier view point and sometimes have two. This is the reason I tweet Russ asking for game playback feature every so often. It would cut out most cheating.
Funny thing some of the big groups the op is promoting have had players caught cheating as they are larger comp groups.
It's hard to tell some times. The 60+ ban they did a few years ago one of the players banned used to play with us on the TS server. I had no idea back then but now of days I would as I have seen it. If people knew what to look for and as there are only the few hacks there would be more bans and less false accusations.

Take all torso armor (except 1 point per rear torso to fool people) and throw it on the front torso.
Then any Mad Dog can tank as well as the Quickdraw which is also NOT a tanky mech... but then again watch this.
Note you will hear at least two Gauss hits, many LRM hits, some AC hits... and yet..mostly yellow armor with the exception of the CT after a LOT of abuse that would basically tear any Quickdraw asunder.

Personally, the only time I report anyone is if I get hit with more than one headshot at range on the move. I'm not talking about laser splash, or some LBX pellets. But if someone hits me in the head with gauss/ppc/IS AC at range on the move, and does it more than once I'm suspicious. Same thing applies if the same guy does it to multiple people in a match. Of course, sometimes you might get hit by just one full gauss/ppc salvo and be dead from that headshot.....
Then again, most cheaters aren't dumb enough to start nailing repeated headshots to begin with....
