On the bright side, PGI just stopped me from spending another $60.00 on the game with this little decision. Now my decision is: Lots of no-name beer that tastes like beaver pee or a smaller amount of some fine craft brew.

This, right here.

You know, when you look at the history of MW:O, you see PGI cutting off it's own nose to spite it's face over and over and over again. Hell, just look at how the introduce new mechs. If you pay REAL money, we'll give you an advantage for a couple of months until we nerf the hell out of it and release it for cbills.

It's almost as if PGI really doesn't want to succeed. For every step forward (and those have been few and far between), they take three steps back.

Makes you wonder just how many people will leave the game for good after this. Kinda hoping it's double digits. Maybe if PGI fails miserably, they'll release the license to a developer that can actually do it right.

Well I retract my previous statement, I got like 151mil back from those modules.
I'm not quite sure how that will translate to SP's but as long as my mech is mastered....doesn't really matter, you just get HSP and convert it to SP. 91 points, done.

I have no GSP though due to me starting playing in Feb of this year.

This might breath new life into those mechs that I bought for mastery, but actually never play. I think this is going to be cool.
I have to now haul butt now and grind off all those mechs that are one away from mastery. Which appear to be a lot in my case... That mastery node to equip an additional module wasn't really that needed for me. I only got them on mechs i just play a alot.

Still a load of crap.

There are plenty of us that have spent hundreds of millions of cbills on modules prior to December 3rd, 2016 that are getting defrauded.

Not sure why a "Radar Deprivation" module that I spent 6 million cbills on a year ago is somehow worth less than one I buy today.

One would think that the developer of a title that is hemmoraging players as bad as MW:O is would bend over just a little to at least try to keep the players they still have. Guess not.

Guess they've got some amazing marketing plan to make up for the loss of revenue over a stupid decision with regard to an imaginary economy. Would you like to buy a mech pack?

Google Chrome suggested a MWO article; I yawn as i am waking up, hmmmm, c-bills, modules, no credit???

Good morning?!?!?! No lol!!! Bad pgi, bad bad bad...Where's my newspaper?

No caffeine yet, dinking here on my phone, haven't been on for a a day or to to get this from my units online MWO online play dates, blowing off components, giving and taking xp by surviving or depriving.

Con-flatulations.

Question?

Seriously.....How were we confused? I was at Mech-con when the skill tree was revealed. Did I mishear? Did Russ misspeak, or did Russ just change his mind?

I heard, "You will be credited all the xp and all the c-bills you have spent on the game (Since original beta reset I assumed) for leveling up mechs, spent on modules.

I am at a loss.

What, around 200 Mechs, at best 10% are modules outfitted with an average probably $14,000,000. Basic guessedamation, 20 Mechs times $14,000,000 is $280,000,000? Ok, cut that in half, $140,000,000. That is probably the average players like me were expecting.
I am going to log in and see now.

Let me break it down for you people who seem to defend the proposed refund system.

People are just saying that PGI should do refunds in the same currency that people first spent on purchasing whatever in game.

I don't understand how that's a wildly unfair or mindblowing concept.

GXP = HXP

Cbills = Cbills

MC = MC

Inventing a new currency for refunds will never truly capture people's decision making at the time of purchase. It's like if you went to a store to get a refund for something that they recalled but that you bought in USD and they offered you some currency that they made up.

I'm going to point out businesses do this all the time through giftcard/store credit refunds vs cash or returned credit (to your card). It's not nearly so odd as people are making it sound. The giftcard/store credit is essentially another currency specific to the store since you can't use it elsewhere.

Oooooh, good point. That explains why they're not giving cbills for the modules. Lord knows where we'd spend them on if they refunded them.

I'm looking at almost a billion cbills myself. Why, I could head over to Amazon and get what? What's the exchange rate for imaginary currency nowadays?

It's exactly what I expected them to do.

My only concern about the Skill Tree is the way it will reinstate the performance gap between good Mechs and bad ones, Clan Mechs vs IS.

I do slightly worry about the complexity. My son looked over my shoulder at the new Skill Tree, asked me to show him all the different trees etc.

Then he laughed and said "Rest In Peace, MWO".

I pretty much don't get anything back for modules, because i made most investments into them before the deadline.

I don't really care though. I'm sitting on enough cbills as of now, and since i don't spent cbills on trashtier mechs, i can't see me needing the module refund to buy anything.

Personally, i like the complexity. It makes figuring out the best way to min max it more challenging. I like min maxing, and i like when its not obvious what the best option is (because if its obvious, everyone will get it right)

I just skilled up two Mechs on the test server, and now feel stressed, saddened and worried...

1. Viper: what's more important... Keeping the speed at 139kph so it can keep up with Lights? Laser heat so that it can maintain it's rate of fire at close range? Armour, so that it's arms don't fall off quite as quickly as they usually do?

I couldn't unlock all those things within the 91 points available. So I ended up with a mix, none of which was as good as what I presently have from my Viper.

2. Battlemaster: I chose speed, some armor and agility. What's next most important ... Radar Deprivation and Seismic, or energy heat and duration? I couldn't get anywhere near unlocking all these things that I want (and currently have with the current quirks and modules).

It can be argued that it's good to be forced to make tradeoffs. And to de-escalate the power creep. But I feel stressed that I might be choosing the less optimal direction, sad that my Mechs just aren't as good as they were and worried that these nerfs are impacting IS and dequirked Mechs far more than Clan Mechs.

Don't care now.
I just watch the whole shite burn down.
And might put some wood into the fire, so it burns down faster...
PGI never changes.

I'm all for going back to refunding cbills for cbills spent, XP for XP spent.

The current model essentially refunds you the value of XP for your modules twice and the cbills you'd have spent to level up skills twice and so makes SP worthless.

I am not in favor of giving everyone 91 SP for each 'mastered' mech they have. More like 60-70. Then refund cbills and XP for modules purchased.

That would be fair.

This strawman is getting old and annoying enough to draw out a serious lurker like myself. You think you "own" those cbills in your account inventory? Seriously, you agree every time you play that PGI can change the game (and its attendant currencies) EVERY time you play. EVERY ******* time. These entitlement whines about what you "earned" wasting time in a video game just get ******* old.
You are entitled to your opinion ofc, and you can share it all you want. I hope your crying and whining doesn't net you anything because I am very satisfied with PGI's refund strategy.

I would like to point out originally PGI wanted to do a refund to everyone in what you paid you get returned to you back in Feb. But people complained and so PGI is doing this instead to allow people who mastered a mech will be able to master a mech again in the new system that requires more xp.

So your telling me that Founders like myself with over 200 Mechs and well in excess of ONE BILLION C-BILLS invested in modules are going to get back jack squat?....
It looks like having a useless Unit Coffer System ( of which I dropped 500,000,000+ C Bills into) wasn't enough for PGI
It's starting to sound like PGI is a subsidiary of the Clinton Foundation by the hinky business model..
Methinks it's time to STOP spending real $$$ on this game.....
So what's next PGI...
Hero, Champion and Golden Khan Mechs are going to disappear next?....

youre getting GSP. Which is valuable upto a certain point (the point where you can no longer spend it reasonably). But beyond that point its effectively worthless.

But yeah they really need to give at least 50% cbills and 50% GSP as compensation. That is the best compromise for everyone.

We earned and paid cbills for those modules, and should get cbills back.

There is no inflationary effect of refunding in cbills, because every single one of those cbills was earned exactly the same way as any other cbill.
