250 Per Round Damage Threshold... Or Back To The Academy...

And the reason because so few really manage to get those numbers
Really would like to see damage efficiency?
I had a game where i scored only 180dmg - 2 Solo Kills. 1 assist - but poor players are poor isn't it.
Also had a "good" game with 433dmg - 3 Solo Kills 2 KMDDs - of course the other guys didn't have much damage either.... i think a single LRM5 Cyclops got 400 the others stayed below the 300dmg benchmark.
I rather prefer the guy who put 80dmg into a single location and die then the guy who plaster 12 targets with 80dmg in 6 different hit locations

if an assault player does 250 damage and 1 kill im fine with that.
because ive seen assault players that do less than 100 damage.

Numbers don't scale evenly; Just going on experience and gut.
And yeah, I know that there's an unofficial achievement for doing over 1,000 damage in a single mech; Not really applicable here.
Obviously, Kills offset damage, so getting Killing Blows means you can get away with less damage done.
Doing less damage than the minimum values means you don't know how to pilot that mech and/or your mechlab build is awful.
I always do a test run of any new build in the Tourmaline Desert training grounds, going through the Atlas, Jenner, Centurion, Cataphract, Awesome, Cicada, then the Commando and/or the Timberwolf. If you can storm your way through them quickly without overheating, ammo shortage, or getting "stuck in the open" then you're really ready to go. Sometimes just 30 seconds in the training grounds can save you minutes lost and a match loss.
Tourmaline is great because of the easy targets and high heat. If it works there, it'll do great elsewhere.

No you dont need to run metamechs for that,
i play mostly bad mechs, like my fox, viper or dog.
Metawhoring is boring!
If you look at the fast matches (rolls) you will see that most player have 200-400 damage, 6+ assists and 0-2 kills.
That happens when you kill efficiently ...

If an assault mech teammate does 250 damage and kills one enemy at the tip of the spear of a well organized push he can do that all day long and I'd have zero problem with it.

Yes, not to mention that if you hit a really potato team or team gets caught in a really bad position, which happens more often than desired, you won't get much dam out no matter how meta.

Yes, that's where I test my builds too. I'll turn left and go up through the gap to backstab the Catapult, over to the Atlas where I'll test whether I can hold down my weapons and drill through the CT without overheating (using my Coolshot), then up to the Jenner, around to the Centurion, over to the Cataphract, then to the Awesom, then over to leg the Cicada and finally backstab the Commando. After that i'll look at how much ammo I have left (add more if I ran out, remove some if I still have a bunch left).
For my light mechs instead of drilling through the Atlas CT I'll either backstab or headshot it, and I sometimes backstab the Cataphract and Awesome as well.

I don't drop often - this must be the understatement of the year (since 2015 I hardly made 100 drops)
but the last week 4 drops and i did see mostly assaults.
average drop 5 assaults 4 heavys 1 medium 2 lights
so the absolut minimum for this team would be to deal 4050 damage = 337 per target.... lol
Yes I'm tier 4 and i will stay tier 4 and i don't give a damn but at least I can calculate.
There is a reason why PGI changed from ELO to PSR and guys like those thinking in the same way as the OP are the reason.

I'll play how I want to play. If you L33Ts insist on bringing the meta-crutch, then you'll just have to learn to carry harder because I don't give one sh*t about YOUR gaming experience.

But I do hope that someone pointed out that 250 damage from LRMs doesn't count (because LRMs spread their damage all over the target).
Rule of thumb I'd say 400 damage would be the minimum requirement from LRM boats. And that is possibly a little generous.

does low avg damage per game always equate to being a bad player? nah.
most of the time, though? yes. hell yes. especially in qp.
250 damage is like, what? 5 alphas in a heavy? if you can't survive long enough to land shots 5 times on an enemy in a match, something is wrong. maybe you goofed. maybe your team goofed. maybe power went out in your block. maybe your cat shat on your keyboard. maybe YOU shat on your keyboard.
it happens. sometimes.
but if it happens all the time...

Don't want noobs 'ruining' "your" pug games? WTF lol.. Maybe join a unit? Or stop playing pugs?
I'd prefer to play with noobs than some angry elitist who tells everyone he thinks is lower that him to quit playing or "go back to academy", that guy is a detriment to the very game, go play a solo rambo game if you love yourself that much.

I would like to point out I play about a bit of everything, assaults to lights, meta builds to trash builds, and so if I can do it with out even trying I know you can too.
I do wish there was more stat tools though to see in sections like last 1000 matches or last 100 matches because I am sure my average damage is probably closer to 400 if not higher because naturally getting better (also been working on my meta mechs like night gyrs and kodiaks).

If this offends you it most likely applies to you. If it does not it does not.
I think I'll go que up a no armor locust or stock urbie now just to annoy these kinds of people.

also there is little to learn from the stats of just one game. you need to play a lot of games to learn anything. real games, with real players. the academy is no substitute.
