I wouldn't be so sure for a lot of reasons. It's fine if they like the balance of units this week as a reason to launch now...but with such little notice people (and the recent changes restricting realignment) pilots may not be able to get to the side they would normally play for this event. There are only a handful of active and decent loyalist units left....as so many went Merc over the last year. Yes,some guys(and units) have Alts that can play whatever side they want, but this may well catch people who would normally play Clan (for example) on an IS contract. We even have unit guys who maxed their loyalist rep (level 20) and went solo Merc to grind rewards, possibly having to play against who they would consider their unit mates. So, while I am all for events like this...a little more notice would be nice...just so folks could have gotten to where they consider "home" if they wanted.

Ah, but you are discarding the "potato factor."

This is yet another sterling example of a well thought out and implemented event, just like every other event PGI has held. EXACTLY like every well thought out and implemented event.

Think about that for a moment.

PGI knows about the competetive seasons, they know where they are in their ladders. These are the guys that still drop enough money into the game to keep PGI in blow and hookers.

Lies EVIL not steiner loyalists. Who says we went loyalist since they fixed the instant switch merc loophole and most of us are already max merc. Posted Image

Beside we like only 30 man big unit that has hard time filling a full or half premade compared to the bigger activity in tukyad we barely affect the tug of war.

EVLL - details, I even saw my mate Hellsdog with a FIST last night. I can't wait to drop with him for the lulz again.

I'm sure for Tukkayid some gloves will get a dusting off for the hell of it. Why not?

Stay IS with us dingo! Lets pull off a Tukkayid win for IS.

Between ZMOM, EK, EVIL, 54MR and a few other units I know that are gonna be IS - I cannot see logically why we cannot achieve it along with the other units floating around as there will definitely be a few merc units who will go for EZ mode for sure (IRAN etc). But I prefer a challenge.

I also wonder what other units *may* come to IS for this event given the ez-mode selectorforks Posted Image

If you do I promise I will try to be incredibly hilarious and TS hop to ensure everyone is having fun. This may or may not mean I will also be incredibly drunk.

Doesn't matter what you do, all it matters is how many pugs play. How many matches went on at once last time? 80? How many 12 man teams will all the mercs run out of 24 hours in the day?

tukkayid #1 we had 4-5 house teams playing and we were winning almost all of them and still saw the percentage go down each time we got out to get into a new game. Marik might have 1 house team this time , maybe.

The only thing that kept tukkayid #2 from being 100% clans was the EU time zone.

On a Fri night US lately, it's been IS pushing. With at LEAST 10 x 12 mans running based off my count from my friends list.

That is more than adequate. Clan PUGs are just as bad as IS PUGs in the "PUG battles".

This is why the territory is barely moving at the moment. Most cycles it rarely hits Siege. I played ONE Siege game last week and after that it moved back and was stuck in Assault for an hour. So I just logged off lol.

I would say clan pugs in general have better mechs but lets not even go there. Lets go by the numbers and say they're the same.

the question is what side has more pugs?

Im guessing Is has more pugs right now.

If IS has more pugs, that means our 12man teams are going to be waiting. At the same time the Clan 12man teams will get to fight more. In Tukkayid #2 they were fighing 2 to our 1 as i remember.

It'll all come down to what happens on Mon/Tue.

That is when the bulk of the contracts for Mercs come up. So mid-way through the event. Given we have NFI what the event will involve and if switching will actually HURT you or not - wait and see we must.

That said we were just dropping at a 4man for a couple hours last night. Only lost one game against 3-6 mans on the other team as the Clan PUGs were miles worse than our IS ones (except one game, a PUG 4man couldn't collectively do 800dmg across 16 mechs).

Just remember

61 zones contested + 38 waiting = 99 "teams"
That's a lot of potatoes to carry.

Also population imbalance leads to wait times, not buckits.

(steps down off preaching buckit)

Yeah but don't forget, population in FP is at the lowest now it has ever been. Not the FP2 prime.

There will be a wait time on both sides no matter what under bucket system.

Ash - EK will be clan for this event, our contract runs until Monday morning. As for easy mode - dont give me it. IS is easy mode mate, and you know it! Tonnage tonnage tonnage QUIRKS! The only real reason for clan is getting decent dmg numbers / cbills shooting all that extra structure the IS gets.

hahahhaha you said you were going IS last week (and didn't) and were this week (well, rumour mill said that). Maybe some of your unit guys might wanna come play with me rather than getting beaten by, me? That said this event will run for a week - so people can re-up contracts or, change Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

IMO Clan is easier, range wins - I'm a trader through and through now (EVIL corrupted me). I perform better in them - but I'm not going to start this merry-go-round debate unless I've had at least 8 beers. Which right now, I've had -8 beers.

Thats a new level of egomania even for you mate. Lol Ash its all about you never mind the 11 other people on your team.

Maybe lay off the cheese?

Yeah we stayed clan in the hope of bringing some of our older absent members back for this event - but with the amount of notice given and lack lustre PR by PGI - i doubt its going to achieve much...

hahaha I had a feeling you'd say exactly that :D

Yeah all good, and a fair point.

Indeed 3 days notice for an event of this, size/investment in time and all that... Is I dunno, shortsighted, probably the best word to put with that. I think we'll struggle to rustle up 2 x 12 mans in all honesty and for a unit 100 large... That's a true sign of the times :(

All good Ash lol, I couldnt let that one slide!

Well - lets hope this brings back some folks to FP its a mode with so much potential and when you get balanced good matches its a heap of fun! I really enjoyed those matches the other week vs 54mr and Jgx - super close and really challenging. Thats when FP is at its best i reckon... well maybe if we had won by 2 cap points rather than lost by 2 :-P

Anyhow all that aside im still kinda bemused by PGI's approach to the event. Do they want to keep it a secret so mercs dont imbalance the battle by going IS or clan en masse?

I hope for both our units sakes it brings a few back even if for a short time. Some people I ain't dropped with on my unit and EK for a while. You miss some of the characters kinda thing.

Yeah we had a couple good ones last night with AWOL and someone else, reasonably tight games. Just a question of who gets the better PUGs outta the lottery.

Stuffed if I know? PGI would have to be aware that "Contract day" for most units is in 4-5 days which is smack bang in the middle of the event. So I don't know how that is going to affect the event or even if PGI is perhaps going to impose restrictions? Or have multi side rewards again (AKA: Shaft the loyalist rewards).

If dual rewards is again the case you can expect in 4-5 days for literally EVERY merc to swap sides. How the hell you gonna decide a "war" if that happens now with this bucket system and weekly contracts?
