Teamspeak channels are quiet NGNG channel had no one on it. FRR channel had 8 on it at 9am. Instead of 3 full teams worth of people in quick play and FW. WONDER WHY? All the older players have moved on? Waiting for skill tree? The one sided play, day after day, gets to be too much for some gamers. The nastiness of players in game has gone up and over the top. The glacial pace of development is one huge problem with nothing finished or complete, just band aid, move on. LARGEST THING is mentioned in every drop when certain people get in a game I join, reinforcing the idea of the true reason. Just today 2 matches 2 immediate attacks then the roll of the team. Solo matches works the same, wonder why the turn over of players is so high. Seems the anger I receive in game about abilities hit true points, but the population has dropped. Meaning experienced players no longer play. The population number might not changed but the quality of the game and players has dropped causing the base players who paid money to kickstart this game to give up as nothing will never be what they said at the start of this game.

I'm pretty hyped about HBS Battletech though.

Battletech universe games that aren't pen and paper are better as single player. Settings so heavily driven by atmosphere and lore don't fare well when you strip it all out of it.

Dude, this is MWO. Population will always be dropping until the game dies. PGI has decreed it so.

Middle of the week, population always low during middle of the week, peeps busy with stuff like work and life. Also, we got an event looming so people are conserving energy for that this weekend, and we got a patch incoming with some major changes (possibly) and people typically curb playing before a patch so they don't burn out before the patch lands. Typical player contractions on a regular rhythm, it is like breathing.

No figures just conjecture.

That said, the game is 5 years old, with stale repetitive game-play and the developers show no clue as to how to gain traction with new players, so I wouldn't be too terribly surprised.

The population lowered in the second half of February.. (when was the first Skill Maze PTS?..,) picked back up in March.. (chatter about the timeline jump?..) and dropped back down in April..

These most recent changes in player count aren't that much, though. We've been pretty steady since things leveled out in September.

We still never recovered from last year's Q2 changes (mapgate / rescale.. I forgot what the other one was..)

We don't need steam charts or steam db to gauge population anymore, we have leaderboards for that, which can tell us activity in PUG queue and number of players. Granted it is limited in the fact it doesn't count CW/FW/KHKSJHDASD, so there is some bias there.

God Tom plus FW events. Many people were salty for good reason when they reversed the changes in May of last year and followed it up by buffing long tom back to ridiculous levels.

Ah, Long John Thomas.. I had created a mental block in an attempt to forget FPv3.

RIP:FPv2.. I managed to collect my last rank 2 mechbay the weekend before it happened.

No idea how you get that ... I look at the plot for daily players for the last year and it has been mostly stable between 1000 and 2000. Some small changes between peaks and minima as well as the usual cycles with peaks on the weekends and larger peaks corresponding to popular events but honestly not much change in steam numbers over the past year.

I remember seeing these threads a few years ago. Exactly how long does it take a game to die, anyway?

As long as it takes for you, the individual, to stop paying attention to it.

Who the hell plays this game at 9am on a Thursday? I've already been at work for 2 hours at that point in time.
