So if they ever make a proper Hollywood blockbuster Battletech movie, who would you like to see star in it?

Here's some names I would like to see:

Natasha Kerensky: Scarlet Johansson or Chalize Theron
Ulric Kerensky: Jason Momoa
Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht: Patrick Stewart
Phelan Ward: Jason Statham
Vandervahn Chistu: Jeremy Irons
Jaime Wolf: Sean Bean

Feel free to add some of your own picks and ideas..

Why for god sake all the Mary Sues all over again? I'm so glad they got nuked

Better the 3rd Succession Wars somewhere in end or mid 30st Century.

I don't know, Natasha kerensky is a clanner and a dedicated breed of clanwarrior I doubt scralets female features would fit her character (while it would bring success to the movie it would be very unfitting for th character)

Also the question is if the movie would be about clans at all or an earlier iteration. I think the entire Invasion events is way too much for a single movie. This is more trilogy worthy. The first movie should be about the general situation and some conflicts within the IS before a possible second starts beeing about the clan invasion and the wolf dragoons initial doing while the third movie should be about the full force events of the Invasion ending with Tukayyid.

Sean Bean can't play Jaime Wolf.

Jaime wolf doesn't die.

Far too Mary Sue to be even considered.

Not to mention that famous actors and actresses dislike having their beautiful bodies and figures concealed in masks, helmets or strapped inside large machines without a way for the camera to see them in all their glory.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Natasha Kerensky in her late 30's, early 40's during Operation Revival?

This would be the best timeline for a movie TBH, although it would kinda have to be a trilogy.
You've got a powerful enemy to "unify" the IS, and could be shown from a Merc unit perspective

Pt1, Mechwarrior leaves Comguards to start Merc unit, Clan invasion starts, Clan Wolf starts communications with IS, movie ends with IlKhan Leo Showers dying

Pt2, Ulric Kerensky takes over as IlKhan, IS thinks it will be better off (LOL no), Twicross, reports about Turtle Bay, ends with Battle of Luthien

Pt3, Starts with a meeting between Ulric and Focht, Ulric explains history of the Clans and Battle of Tukayyid is planned, Merc rejoins Comguards to help fight against the Clans, Battle of Tukayyid

To big in scale this would become another Jupiter Ascanding (the film would have been good if stretched towards a trilogy)

There are two options - concentrate on a single action (Fury) or ignore the ongoing arround and concentrate on a small couple of humans - try to show their deeds, fears and hopes - (My Honor was Loyalty)

The first is combat heavy, the second only to underline character traits

Do Wolves on the Border and you could have Minobu Tetsuhara, the awesomest Kurita samurai ever, who just so happens to be black.

Idris Elba?

Natasha was in her 70's. Shocking, I know. She was still hot--testament to 31st century plastic surgery. Clan invasion is too broad to fit into one movie, as a lot of factions were affected. And Clan culture will add more mess to currently unfamiliar IS setting to the audience. Better to start small with a defined protagonist.

"Decision at Thunder Rift", therefore is an excellent place to start. Setting is limited to one world, protagonist and antagonist are clearly defined, and the story will fit into one movie without cutting corners too much.

If Hollywood made it it would be garbage, a big budget cable series would be best.

The metaplot is too unwieldy to do as anything smaller than a miniseries. The Blood of Kerensky trilogy is the most cinematic and it still has four major plots set in different places that only vaguely interact. Before you rewrite some of it to account for later material (i.e. Kathy S-D parachuting out of nowhere to become the antagonist for the latter 3050s and 3060s even though she is 18-19 when Outreach happens) and various one-note things that are cringeworthy.

Game of Thrones meets new Battlestar Galactica would work as an approach, I think.

Natasha is 77 in 3050. BattleTech human lifespans are quite a bit longer if nothing happens. Kai is killed in action at age *83* and Phelan, Victor and Katherine (to take three characters we have good dates on birth and death) all break a century.

The thing, all we neglecting due gamer-orientated mind, war is anything, but fun and joy.
If we ever will have full-length theatrical live-action feature, I wish it could be like Fury (2014).

Just plain and simple technically detailed war routine of some mech-lance\squad.
Not some white knight in shiny metal mecha-armor.
Not some epic long tales of Kerensky/Amaris/Cland/Jihad...no-no...
All these themes are too complex to being put in 2 hours.
Show me a slice of life at the edge of the barrel.
For example, 'Mercenary Star' by W. H. Keith with a touch of realism would be perfect example of what i want.

Hm i think "a battle" scene Infantry vs a Mech could easy can cause the most disturbing scenes.
consider the simple Stinger - two machine guns - but those are not just tiny 50cal - their caliber might be much bigger and the rate of fire absolute devasting - considering that you want to shoot at infantry maybe you choose to use Duplex or Triplex ammunition.
Everything not in cover will be cut in pieces.

The Laser while not powerful enough to "vaporize" a soldier like the beams from "War of The Worlds" it will cause bodys to explode - so "secondary body fragments" might injure nearby troops

Although its necessary that those scenes fit in the story. Suche a massacre would be ok for the story to be told from the view of the PBI
but when the "hero" is a Mechwarrior - you might have a better effect when he just moves to a battlefield after the Stinger has passed. Sometimes the remains are even more disturbing
