The wary customer sniffs the air near the check out line. Ever cautious of a trap, he thinks to himself "hmm a sale on the most popular mechs in the game...smells like a trap. I wonder where the nerf hammer is hiding and when it will strike."
Slowly, cautiously, he approaches the Battlemaster 2C. As he readies himself to click the "purchase" button a cold breeze flows through him. A vague recollection of something...something from the past...not a warning necessarily, but something more sinister but on its face innocent.
Then, in a flood of recollection he knows that doom is at hand if he goes further. He remembers it all:
"June will see an extensive balance pass performed on Energy weapons, which will touch nearly every weapon currently in the energy lineup."
A smile spreads over his face as he thinks "very clever PGI, very clever. Incoming nerf is a euphemism for balance pass". You almost had me you sneaky devils. Well played, but not well enough."
Um... I enjoy the story... And also have this sneaking suspicion that those Mechs will have their quirks curtailed in lieu of an energy weapon balance pass. You say "nerf energy weapons" but I heard "nerf the quirks and buff the IS versions of the weapons."
So, yes, fear your purchase if you are buying for the sake of quirks. And fear your purchase if you are trying to buy a CrutchMech that's better than others.... Make your purchase if you want to buy something "Good," just don't expect them to be CrutchMechs that others will not be able to keep up with.
