Well, this shouldn't take a Herculean (or Heraclean) effort...

Pretty sad rewards for this Javelin event compared to past.....Its a grind to try and finish in the top 10 of these events. You are obviously racist against us Javelin pilots. I will be notifying the NAACP!!!

Leaderboard rewards have been really crappy for a while now. I miss the old leaderboards. At least they provided an incentive to work your a$$ off to finish high on the leaderboard.

Those are the Roman named versions of the Olympian Gods.

You would not expect North Americans to either know the difference or care about it. :)

Well,

PGI love the event. In all honesty you might want to post events for new players/busy players on a schedule about 3 months out. You do not need to into great details, only that an event is happening. List the working title of the event and allow players to point out things like Roman/Greek god names prior to the event.

You have a loving (and sometimes trolling/hating) fan base to provide feedback prior to event launches.

With that said - thank you. I am gunning (and punning) for the mech bay. Good luck to all who play. May Ares/Mars watch over you. Posted Image

Added - GrimmigerPetz I like your perspective on this.

Seriously guys. The naming is all correct.

Smartypants mode on.

The archaic Romans religion did not have any "real" gods. They worshiped natural events and nature itself.

When they got more "cultivated" they adapted the Greeks mythology and their panteon and renamed them. The Olymp stayed their home.

As it is a Javelin Event, named after the pillum/javelin of Roman legionary ( scutum/shield warhorn, cassis/helmet item, wink, wink).

Naming the stages after the Roman incarnations of olympean gods is correct.

Smartypants mode off.

Yeah, a bit like Star Trek VI, where Chancellor Gorkon encourages Spock to enjoy Shakespeare in the klingon original... *doh*

Don't think anyone is disputing that the Romans "borrowed" the pantheon.

But going Olympian makes it Greek, they could have done the same thing, but dropped the "Olympic" moniker and just used something relevant to legionnaires or Roman warfare (they prayed to almost everyone before most battles because even seemingly irrelevant Gods got a look in on having some sway on fortune in battle - thank you http://horrible-histories.co.uk/).

edit > apparently I no longer know how to tidily post a link.

Do not be mad at me but..

pant_h_eon. Because θεός and θ being "th", even though the Spanish misspell it.

Stop playing till they remove the skill tree

Sorry but I LIKE the skill tree it needs some tweaking I dn't think we need gatekeeper nodes we should just be allowed to skill them. I think the complaints will be that LRMs and armor has become OP on some mechs.

You know you can get multiple detections with just one UAV, right?

How come this comment is not liked by more people? Come on!

I don't quite know what I need to do launch a UAV and then use it to detect 10 target detected messages or just enough to pick up 10 enemy on the uav?

A surprise event? And.. you post it after midnight (CEST) on a Saturday?

That's so crazy!... You don't want too many players on weekends, right?.. or what??...

I am very curious, how many players will come back Monday and say:

"What? There was/is an event...?"

What concerns me is that the concentration on just the Field events, along with the lack of track events seems to suggest clear "race-ism" at PGI...

(I hope that they don't take this seriously...)

Hmm, an air of desperation maybe, throwing yet more new chassis (IIc Heroes), putting an event on, imminent patch to start to unravel the holy turdiness of the last update . . . . would be very interesting to see what the population count is like at the moment and if possible, what percentage of veteran players are now sitting it out waiting for the mess to be sorted.

Already seeing folk not online or have been off for a few days in my friends list, folk who would usually be on every day prior to the skill tree introduction and the return to the basest levels of play, gone is most of the brawling, back are the lrm builds (yes this is once again viable, but oh so discouraging) seeing virtually any capable mech loaded with lrm where before the patch the pilot would have been drummed out of their unit just for suggesting carrying an lrm 5 never mind shifting half of their loadout to lrm.

The removal of quirks, introduction of skill tree and loss of modules has seen a sad shift in game play - ttk is probably less than before and just try levelling up a new mech without using GXP etc. it's even worse than ever for any level or experience of player.

WP PGI, missed the target and shot yourself in the foot once again . . . /sigh

Should've stopped at 10 tasks to make up the components of a decathlon. Or alternatively, made us do 10 of 12 and call that task the decathlon. Then we could wait 40 years and celebrate the Jenner's transformation into the Jenner IIC.
