Greetings MechWarriors! Today I have a simple idea to counter LRMS. Recently, with the new skill tree, pilots have been seen carrying far more and larger LRM launchers than previously. In part because of the skill tree, which allows you to increase velocity, reduce missile spread and something about crit damage but there is a way to counter these incredibly meta and OP weapons until PGI FINALLY reins them in!

First you'll need a mech with AMS. Don't worry, if you don't have one and can't afford a new mech because you're a cheapskate, bring a friend! If you don't have any? Make some! If you're irredeemably anti-social with no hope of conversing with others on this game? You can always buy some!
Once you've purchased (or dragged) your friend into battle, make certain that they've equipped AMS with no fewer than 8 tons of ammo. LRM spam is prevalent and you didn't really need a few more KPH from that larger engine or another half dozen DHS, did you? Or maybe just lose the large laser. Your friend isn't here to get a high match score or contribute to the team in damage, but by eliminating LRM spam!

Don't forget to invest heavily in the Survival Branch of the skill tree. Both for AMS and to survive longer in matches! If you don't have 6 points to spare? Take some from Mobility or Operations!

Rocks also provide... Posted Image ...solid cover from LRM spam.

Surprisingly, a roof can also be effective in preventing LRMs raining down from above and onto your poor, unsuspecting mech.

To summarize the few ways to survive the latest LRMpocalypse.

1.AMS.
2.LAMS (when available)
3.Bring a friend with AMS.
4.Bring a Unit member with AMS.
5.Buy a unit/friend with AMS.
6.Stay near rocks. They're always your friend!
7.Stay under cover, preferably, a rocky one.
8.Dodge TAG lasers.
9.Avoid NARC.
10.Bring ECM, and maybe invest in the Sensor tree.

Follow any of these simple tips and you'll be certain to survive the oncoming storm.

Also if you need help skilling your mech to further survive this LRMpocalypse you can look at my Skill Tree Guide. https://mwomercs.com...or-new-players/

It's not worth it anymore for the cost, I also only had 10 spots and "Friends with AMS" needed at least 3!

Thank you for bringing this up. Fortunately for me and my LRM's, most players on MWO don't read the forums and stand out in the open begging for me to lay waste to them with volley after volley of LRM's.

Have a good day.

Also guys, the Red Team makes great ablative cover too... I once used a couple of Red Team LRM boats to kill three Red mechs... the chat was hilarious after that happened! All three of them were cussing about hackers taking away the missile warring alert... never did they think it was 'friendly' fire.

Shouldn't skilled up ECM be higher on that list? (Useless without the skill points atm).

I mean who needs AMS if they can't target you in the first place?

Fun fact, if you purchase all five radar derp skill nodes you can skip the "and power down" part while achieving the same effect.

I dunno about you, but powering down when receiving fire is never plan A for me. =)

So glad to see that Long Tom gone from FP, that was just silly...
