I said many of those mechs were their most powerful back in 2015 at most. Never said some of them were still not meta. The fact remains that IS did not receive any new meta mech for a long while while the Clans received IIC mechs and NGyr. Your list simply proves that.
All of which are MUCH less powerful now...by the way...

The Arctic Wolf looks pretty sweet, although I fear for it's torso hitboxes.

Much less? My WLR/KDR/matchscore with the MAD-IIC, EBJ, Hellbringer etc have not dropped after skill tree, since all mechs were affected by it. In comparison, mechs you listed such as IS Highlanders, Firestarter, Jenner etc are all but forgotten. And the fact you are even bringing up old IS meta mechs back when Clans weren't even introduced is simply hilarious.

You said, "IS finally gets a meta mech"
Implying they never had one.

And where are they now? Aside from BLR-2C (even its energy range quirk was removed), most of the IS mechs had their quirks reduced from 2015-2017, and even as recently as the new skill tree patch. Where is the Firestarter-A? Where is the Thunderbolt-9SE? Quirks are traps that can be easily changed. Meanwhile Arctic Cheetah, and EBJ/Hellbie/Timbie are still here, cause they are not dependent on quirks.

They are dependent on quirks...quirky things like base agility, yaw rate, pitch rate, speed...negative quirks...

No, because ATMs are too heavy to make use of that many hardpoints on a 40 tonner.
I am thinking about 9x SRM2, though. Move over, Viper, there's a new Best Light in the Game.

That's the natural order of the variants. Its only if they start messing with the order and doing Prime-C-D in the std with A-B in the reinforcements that they are doing something funky.
I'll pass on the hero, but yes reinforcements are kind of a must have on this one. Oh well.

Please give me reasons why the amazing looking escalation mechs are actually rubbish and I shouldn't want to buy them... the nightstar and Osiris especially...

Of course, the BM versions will likely be better because of the added customization such as adding FF and getting engines rated over 250 (Omnimech is stuck at 240)...
ACW BMs don't have JJs or ECM, Omni variants have both so XL240, 3 JJs, ECM, 4x ASRM6 + 5t ammo and 2 Flamers.

True it be a weird hero that's mostly a laser boat (Meh), but the better options are the Battlemech, since they can bring more firepower without sacrificing space for JJ's since either you go laser vomit, 2 spl's with 4 srm6's with ecm, or 4 srm6's with ecm and JJ's. Still playing around with some build Ideas.
