I've been buying games before I've ever played a single bit of them for well over a decade. This is not really any different aside from the fact that I'm essentially going 'look i was going to probably spend this much on the game anyways so i'll just spend it now'.

There is no game, only an idea at that point and companies ask for several millions if not tens of millions up front for an idea, and look at all the wonderful things that came out of it, like washing machines, cars, and the internet. The founders are akin to those investors, taking a risk on an idea and a promise without actually having anything. Well ok, we have more than an average investor would have, and that is videos, screenshots, and concept art, which is way more than an idea written on a napkin.
It all comes down to risking something you can afford to lose, or betting on something you feel is a sure fire thing.

2) I view it akin to preordering - I pay up front for what I believe will be a good game based on the what the devs have shown me so far
3) Being honest - I kinda wanted the custom skinned mech. Somewhere down inside there's an elitist *******

Just so you know, there are many places in the world that actually do this. It's called an arrange marriage, and as I mentioned above, is a completely wrong analogy for founders' packs.

Because I wanted to help them bring the game to fruition. MW\BT games have always been among my favorites and I know I'm going to be a part of it.

This is a game I've played for almost as long as I can remember via PC, SNES, Tabletop, and Xbox(though the Xbox version was a pile of frozen sad on a fail-stick IMO), and I want to do whatever I can to keep one of my childhood playgrounds alive.
