With Chris's thread about the post skill-tree balance, we were given a little nugget of hope for a few mechs, and the warning of the impending banana hammer for a few others!

Everyone seems to believe the KGC is going to be getting a buff, and I'm sure some of the others who are frequently updating the website and visiting it see what it is too.

Armor!

+25CT, +17 L/RT to be exact.

Does this redeem the inner sphere Dire Whale, or is it still going to be trash?

Its good news, it will be good enough buff and also investing in Armor nodes. Yeah it will be tough as nails... erm crab as it should be. At least some compensation for its hitboxes.
No I do hope the Firestarter get some serioous, sensible quirks aswell, pretty please!

I really really love the king crab. But i bet more people like the Atlas even more, even the devs too. I do think that they're gonna buff it, but not so much that it overshadows the Atlas' tankiness.

I mean, they shouldn't though. The Atlas can't poke or run long-range DPS builds at all like the KGC can, so taking hits to get close enough to brawl is really its only truly good option.

Still trash. Its even worse with the 100 ton nerf.

The KG needs to have its crotch and butt split equally between its legs. That would do a great deal to reduce the CT hit-box size and keep it from getting cored out so quickly.

It's going to be much better but the only one with the hardpoints to overcome the innate disadvantages of the King Crab is the -0000. If the KGC-0000 retains -15% missile CD it will replace the AS7-S outright.

It still has the same poor agility of the other 100t mechs, and aside from the -0000 and new hero, the chassis as a whole invests too much firepower in the low-slung arms. I don't expect it to dominate in the overall scheme of things- just be better than it is currently.

What it really needs is a Team Kill Penalty -100% quirk.

Then I can set up position and unload on the enemy without worrying about dumb team mates that wander aimlessly into my glorious corridor of destruction.

They're in my top 3 favourite mechs, and with these buffs i'll absolutely start piloting them again - the armor buffs make them a different kind of survivable than the structure-tanky atlas, and will reward deep investment in the survival tree.

Also, 6 light PPC's and 2 high mounted RAC5's will be all kinds of awesome...

Id rather give King crab a mix of mobility and firepower quirks though. Make the King Crab handle like a warhammer. Maybe the 000 would have 25% cooldown for ballistics, 35% for ac20. the 000B would have 20% UAC5 jam quirk. etc. etc.

But that's just me.

Great, more time to wack the pinata for goodies. I mean, oh it is going to be soooo viable.

Really, there is no replacement for a torso design that allows spreading of damage and weapons that are not so far from your cockpit that most of your misses come from stupid convergence issues.

Among these points are a number of 'Mechs that have swung wide into both over performing, and under performing territory. The most extreme of them will be addressed in the June patch. With more to be addressed in future patches past June.

Among these 'Mechs being targeted for June adjustments include:
  • Night Gyr
  • Marauder IIC
  • King Crab
  • Firestarter
  • Black Knight

Probably quirks on the hero. The others might not be identical but it appears the King crab will be gaining durability rather than mobility

I would run with 5tons less armor if i could twist like the 95ton mechs :) I dont see any armor helping the 100 ton mechs.
