Lack of active Inverse Kinetics.

That's a separate issue. IK only applies when the legs are in contact with the ground. When it's in the air, that's all on the animation.

I can't believe they even thought this animation was acceptable. It looks terrible. Like it's waddling on its tippy toes.
It seriously needs a longer stride or something.

My thoughts exactly.

You don't need IK to keep the feet level actually. It's very easy to keep the feet level just through manual animations.

True... so long as mechs only traverse level terrain.

The whole premise of using IK is to allow the lower extremities, in specific to this discussion, the ankles and widdle piggies to flex and extend gracefully and acknowledge elevation and slope differences naturally.

PGI have IK turned off so the LEs just run the compound walk/run animation...

Yes and no... If the IK also inherits physics, when the foot is not planted it should theoretically semi-relax / flop a bit.

i walk the same when i have a poker coming out of my butt and i need to get to the bathroom.

all jokes aside, they need to lower the stance of the mk2 to give it a better gait, its literally struggling to stretch its legs forward with the current configuration.

It's got a certain "Minister of Silly Walks" quality to it... Posted Image

True. I was trying not to get overly technical here, but the main point is that this isn't an IK issue.

The Catapult walks properly, with a little bit of toe-heel as you would expect when the foot lifts off. Essentially every chicken-walker 'Mech should be walking like the Catapult.

id did seem alittle odd, i think its stance needs to be widened abit, so it can flow more easily,

Another lame 'Mech? I mean, Altas is lame since some point. Dunno about 'Mech animation itself, but cockpit animation still hobbles.

Too much work being handed off to too few staff members that can actually program / art / animation. People suspecting this was the case now have their evidence in the Mk II. We can blame MW5 for this. With that said, I'm pretty sure PGI knows how important the Mk II is to the players and even their in-house fans. It will be fixed.

I agree that the 4 mech pack rush is probably the culprit. The Marauder IIC was every bit as iconic as the Madcat Mk II and that thing was released like a stomping piece of art. But notice, it was released alone.

Good Lord that is bad. Kinda ironic/weird/puzzling that the cockpit standing item moves a lot better....

Incomplete weapon visuals on most Mechs.
New lasers colored the same as existing lasers.
Negligible tweaks to Invasion-era Faction Play.
Casual reveal in Twitter that the Civil War patch will now be "pre Civil War".
Awkward, immersion-breaking Mech animations.

Everything in Civil War screams "half-baked rush job".

Yes, while also screams "because everybody is working in MW5 and MWO is on maintenance mode".

There is no quality control in PGI? This animation should make the people at PGI to feel ashamed...

Bwahaha Posted Image Even MW2 had better animations than that.

It's even worse that the Direwolf, and that tells you a lot.

Consider yourself fortunate they aren't planning to introduce Quads.

The animation would just break your heart.

Oh god, just watched the clip. Its worst than I thought. A thousand facepalms all over me. Does the mech have arthritis or something?

I can't help but cry inside when I see this and also what they did to the Uziel.

I could play Benny Hill Theme on that awkward Mad Cat Mk.II walk animation.

it's the stick in a butt walk. because someone tried to build a UAC 20 into the lower center torsos back to shoot the back scratching lights.
