There's a reason in the tournament where people 1v1'd a pro (i forget what it was called) the only assault he used was the annihilator.

You just cant justify that kind of free armor.


It's just an IS direwolf.. nothing special.. and don't worry... the second it's out for cbills, it will get nerfed..

The Annihilator can run either 4x AC10 for 16.00 DPS with a 20+20 alpha, or 6x AC5 for 18.06 DPS with a 30 alpha.

Quad IS UAC10 is not a good or even viable build on the Annihilator; it is either limited to around 41.3 kph, or requires an XL to hit 48.6 kph.
It only has around 6 tons of ammo, and it will overheat terribly.

I don't recall much of that for the Marauder IIC, Linebacker and Huntsman, which are all decent/good mechs.

I caught a ANH alone with my viper (5hsml 4hmg) and was surprised how tough that egg is to crack! Multiple full burns to the rear CT and by the color paper doll only doing minor damage to str. Next time I'll just aim for the ST's strip him and leave him. Was taking way too long to try to core him out.

That just means he has way too much rear armor, he should move some to the front.

I'm cringing HARD at this post. The ANH is definitely not P2W - have you encountered one in battle yet? If you have, you would be cringing at yourself posting this in GD for all to see. It's really not terribly great, but not bad either. I personally think it's right where you would want a newly introduced assault to be - it's hardly OP.

If trolling, 10/10.

They are certainly not a pay to win mech. I've wrecked these things in my locust and solo'd a few stragglers. It is so slow I can literally walk in a circle shadowing it eating away at its back.

the armor was striped quick, is say by the end of the first burn of Laz. So I don't think he had too much. It was trying to chew through the structure that was crazy.

yeah but you were in the smallest and fastest mech in the game, chewing back armor is what they do so no big surprise there.

Tha Annihilator doesn't have structure quirks so it has the same structure as any other non-quirked 100 tonner.

true but that's what I'm getting at, something is off on that mech. It don't take me long at all with 4hmg to chew through str on any other mech so I don't understand why it's like throwing spitwads at the ANH.

You're speaking as though the "forums" have a unified opinion. Clearly you haven't been paying attention. Some of us were figuring it would be essentially the IS DWF: powerful under certain circumstances but severely limited in others. An assessment I still maintain.

I'm still giggling and reading the OP because I just can't believe that this thread happened. Annihilators are tough to bring down but they are SUPER easy to outmaneuver even by other assaults. I can only conclude that OP must have tried to face-tank one like a true spud and because his 'mech melted first he is claiming it is P2W.

Stupid people crying after trying to out-stare a KDK-3 got all the Kodiaks nerfed into oblivion. It doesn't matter that it can be easily countered, that didn't help the Kodiaks

Looks like Anni is about to be put on the same train as the Kodi

But as others pointed out this is the same argument Direwolf players had yet they saw nerf after nerf after nerf. Hell it is the same argument Direwolf players still have and if you want to get right down to it, Direwolves have much worse Hitboxes than the ANH and still don't have any structure or armor quirks.

If Annihilator has armor quirks due to its reduced mobility, why also the Dire does not get similar quirks? Moreover, mobility for assaults was nerfed due to engine decoupling...

I dont think so. Because I think many people have realized the Kodiak and Annihilator are actually the level all 100 tonners should be at.

We dont need Annihilator nerfs

We need Direwolf buffs. King Crab buffs. etc... So theyre on the same level as the Annihilator

agility aside, the Kodiak-3 was at the level where all 100 tonners shouldve been. it was a bit too agile but that was really the only thing that was too good about it.

100 tonners should be scary as !@#$. the Kodiak helped exposed the fact that most assault mechs just werent performing at the level they needed to be at.

because most assaults dont gain enough firepower/armor/structure to justify the larger hitboxes and speed they give up compared to heavies. speed is life in MWO, if you have to give up speed, you better damn well get something awesome in return.

Without considering agility, the quad UAC10 KDK-3 had significantly more DPS and alpha than the Annihilator, combined with much higher mounts.
That kind of firepower with high mounts is easily going to be overpowered unless the mech has severe drawbacks, which the KDK-3 didn't get until its mobility was nerfed through the ground.

Hell, the 2x UAC10 + 2x UAC5 build is better firepower than the Annihilator, while still having better top speed; the only reason the mech isn't considered great anymore is that the mobility nerfs, which finally slapped the mech with sufficient drawbacks to offset its great firepower.

Annihilator quirks are more to compensate for how tall the mech is, and the vulnerability of the snake hood/neck.

While I wouldn't be opposed to some quirks for the Dire Wolf, it doesn't have as terrible a profile as the Annihilator.

I personally would like to see most of the engine desync nerfs undone and instead ISXL survive side torso blowout

nerfing clan mech agility into the ground was not a good way to balance the game. fixing ISXL is the better way.
