The real problem is the utterly ridiculous numbers / configurations of hardpoints the clan mechs get.

No need to nerf machine guns. Nerf the hardpoints themselves.

Maybe they could give them an ammo feed bar or something. The more MGs, the faster it depletes? I unno. Just don't want to see them nerfed even worse.

Ammo already depletes faster the more MGs you are firing

Amazing, right?

The hole point of the just released ACH and MLX variants was MG boating.
If that is removed they can remove the Heros (and their CBills counterparts) alltogether.

What, MGs have had their five minutes of finally not sucking, so they can go back to the septic tank for another few years now?

Sigh...Posted Image

You can't give mechs fewer hardpoints than their stock loadout requires.

Low yes, but SUSTAINED and especially HEATLESS which means you can invest the saved SP 100% in survival tree making a ACH super robust. 8x normal MG plus 2x SPL are 11.2 sustained DPS. Try to get that with any other light mech... pro tip of the day: You wont.
Normal MGs also have the best Ammo efficiency with 200 dmg / ton.
And the MG range with 130m is not that much of an issue with a mech going 139 kph.

I know...add a Jam chance to MGs Posted Image

Sorry being a bit sarcastic here but knowing PGI, it wouldn't surprise me.

Let's not forget the offending mechs have locked jumpjets. If players had their way they'd only have 1-2 and they would be significantly deadlier than piddling tin cans at people.

Well, given historical precedent, do keep this in mind: If they nerf, they will nerf the entire weapon across the board and/or they will nerf every variant of the Cheetah and Mist Lynx. They will claim that the weapons are performing above their internally determined target values, or that the entire respective chassis are. Yippee.

OP, you almost had me there and me to jump the guns on such a mindblowing statement.

Always be careful about joking around/ calling for nerfing of otherwise weak/ situational/ niche weapons.
It seems PGI from time to time listens to such nonsense, from noobs (newbies that never learn) and even people like yourself using sarcasm to kinda promote a weapon that have been suffering/ left in the dust from old glory days.
PGI, we are joking, we are satisfied with the MG, they need slight adjustments. But dont nerf em into the ground like how the standard MG's were before they got their first buff in ages, remember when their spread were reduced by 60% some months ago? Yeah I dont want to think and I have some trust PGI dont F things up even more for weapons that need serious help.

PGI. I love the new MG's but some slight adjustments could be in place.
At least buff:

Standard MG from 1 dmg/ sec -> 1.4 (like what HMG have now)
HMG from 1.4 dmg/ sec to 2.8 dmg/ s
Then again, I think the crit/ chance and crit/ dmg should be adjusted accordingly so that
LMG have very high crit chance with high crit dmg, the MG somewhere in between and HMG a bit lower but NOT to the point of not making them useful as crit weapons, even after such a possible higher dmg per sec that I suggested.

Especially if you leave the ranges as is.
Also increase the Rocket launchers dmg some more since it got 50 m min range and slightly reduce the heat gained for your mech from the Flamers you fire somewhat, at least bake it inot the existing Flamer specific nodes we got last time.

The other consideration: Facetime

Sure, it's 11 DPS...but you need to stare for 10 seconds for 110 damage
Stare without diverting any of that damage

As opposed to the big robots who deal 50 damage in a second

Now think of the size of the Cheetah arms, and their fragility (lel Myth Lynx, 29 HP for those massive chunks. A single Dual Gauss disarms it)

They're still Light mechs
Shoot them, they aren't Spheroid quirked (IE, competitive durability)

It kills me that the first response to anything is the sustained crying for nerfs. "NERF this! NERF that! NERF everything!.....Oh wait? What happened to the game? It sucks now! PGI ruined the game!" Why don't we save everyone the time of crying and just make one mech with one standard load out for the entire game. OH WAIT! That wont solve it because then PGI will have to find a way to nerf teamwork then. They will have to remove VOIP and Chat as well. Of course you cant have different skills, so all skills will be locked as well. Oh and NO consumables.

MGs are certainly not op. I played a few rounds after the patch dropped and, yes, a lot of people are running them and a lot of others quite clearly don't know what to do when an mg light is running circles around them! Here's a hint: don't try to follow them, you're a big lumbering assault. You ain't never gonna catch em.

The amount of facetime means MG boats have a very easy counter: shoot them.

It's a big secret of MWO that sustained DPS drops to zero when a mech is dead.

ACH arms fall off with a stiff enough breeze, even when skilled up for durability. Always have, always will.

And then there's the MLX...

What's worse than an MG nerf? An MG nerf combined with a Mist Lynx nerf! Posted Image
