Yes lets nerf them. Knowing pgi they will be nerfed. And then knowing pgi all lights will be nerfed again.

All to placate some whining crybabies.

And another thing.

The cheetah has always been cancer, this new mech changes nothing.

The Lynx has massive bloody arms, it clearly didn't skip arm day. I've found it's extremely easy to loose the arms, instead of crying about it why don't you try shooting them off.

Considering:

LMGs do very little damage to armor
MGs do very little damage to armor and are short ranged
HMGs do slight damage to armor and are super short ranged

I don't see a need for them to be messed with at all.

Just because something kills you doesn't mean is over powered. This is why small and small pulse got nerfed, people complained until the balance overlords decided to take overly drastic measures to curb their usefulness. Every ACH I've seen has stopped running SPL and I never see FS9s. PGI doesn't nerf things lightly and then see the result and work towards nerfing it a little more if necessary, they take a sledge hammer approach to balance.

I agree, if they cant balance them properly best to leave em as is, even now they aint exactly super powerful or anything (and after the new mech craze goes away im pretty sure we will be back to meta builds regardless of the appeal of MG boats is now)...

You've been here long enough to know that is the SOP around here.

Against internals they are the best thing going. And they do a respectable job breaking apart armor when boated as the OP says.

The short range is a moot point since the mechs capable of boating a sufficient number are also fast enough to get into optimal range easily.

They have 25% more DPS, at the cost of 33% of the range

Getting into range is never easy
Not when you remove Potato

McGral18 can correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC the LMG is better at crits than the rest.

As for breaking up armor, SRMs are pretty great at it, too. Better, even.

Only the Clan ones. No IS Lights with 6+ and, even if there were, they wouldn't be using HMG.

Not better at Crits per say, but the fact you can Crit from 3x the distance means its more useful

Props to the guy who killed me with HLLs+HMGs. I honestly didn't think that would be a good combo. Not glad to see I was wrong, but at least it gives me a build idea. Tore my Hellbringer apart pretty quick.

Just be glad no IS mech with ecm/stealth armor has enough mounts to have more than four machine guns.

Low yes, but SUSTAINED and especially HEATLESS which means you can invest the saved SP 100% in survival tree making a ACH super robust. 8x normal MG plus 2x SPL are 11.2 sustained DPS. Try to get that with any other light mech... pro tip of the day: You wont.
Normal MGs also have the best Ammo efficiency with 200 dmg / ton.
And the MG range with 130m is not that much of an issue with a mech going 139 kph.

Anyone not investing all the way into survival on every single mech regardless of build is insane anyway.

Anybody going all the way into survival on something like a Locust is not insane, just extremely naive.

Well okay maybe a locust is the exception, I don't pilot them so I wouldn't know.

Personally, I'm enjoying the fact my Mist Lynx is now a demonic spider capable of killing Bushwhackers. As for nerfs, I'm against it. Lights finally have a viable ballistic weapon that doesn't use up all their limited tonnage, So far the pattern I've been seeing with all the mechs I've killed so far are they are almost exclusively IS, and usually boating RACs and SRMs, to which I would say equip CASE or stop boating ballistics or missiles, since all that ammo you're carrying is almost guaranteed to be critted.

Not really accurate - "lights". Posted Image

I think you meant "two clan lights"

That has to rate as possibly one of the most pointless posts on these forums in quite a while and that's really saying a lot.

If you have the post link it to him if not stop trolling. Posted Image

We've had 7xMG + LPL SHC since forever now and it wasn't over performing at all, hardly anyone played it and it was considered a comedy build. We've had them in 7xLMG configuration a while now and they did not over perform and hardly anyone played it and it was still considered a comedy build.

Yet now when they are put on a more fragile chassis, with less ammo and options they are somehow over performing?

Give me a break.

Is (L)MG boating good? Yes. OP? Far from it. Having a build that makes Lights (that aren't quirked into competitiveness) worth running is a good thing.

Because people aren't used to Lights being dangerous and can't aim.

HMGs are crap.

The range just begs to get you screwed really hard because you need to hug your target and have facetime on it. Sometimes it can be fun, granted. However, when you play Polar you will know what I mean
