Ammo already depletes faster the more MGs you are firing

Amazing, right?

Because that's totally going to stop them from nerfing them into uselessness.

Low yes, but SUSTAINED and especially HEATLESS which means you can invest the saved SP 100% in survival tree making a ACH super robust.

If you're not already putting nearly 100% survival tree on all your lights regardless of build, then ur doin it rong.

MG Jam bar incoming.

Just like RACs, except worse.

Plz no.

The DPS put out by MGs inside their 130 m bracket is piddly compared to the SRMs and SPL spam it faces. A jam bar would kill them outright.

And at 250 m, the LMG gets roasted by UACs, SRMs, MRMs, and ATMs. So, again, dead with any sort of limiter.

This was pointed out during testing. They reduced the damage on HMGs some, but not enough IMO.

HMGs are the weaker MG already

Personally, I'm enjoying the fact my Mist Lynx is now a demonic spider capable of killing Bushwhackers. As for nerfs, I'm against it. Lights finally have a viable ballistic weapon that doesn't use up all their limited tonnage, So far the pattern I've been seeing with all the mechs I've killed so far are they are almost exclusively IS, and usually boating RACs and SRMs, to which I would say equip CASE or stop boating ballistics or missiles, since all that ammo you're carrying is almost guaranteed to be critted.

Against internals they are the best thing going. And they do a respectable job breaking apart armor when boated as the OP says.

The short range is a moot point since the mechs capable of boating a sufficient number are also fast enough to get into optimal range easily.

And lights that close to their target are even easier to shoot and bag. Disengaging from that distance will, at best, leave you crippled, on average, leave you dead.

McGral18 can correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC the LMG is better at crits than the rest.

As for breaking up armor, SRMs are pretty great at it, too. Better, even.

Only the Clan ones. No IS Lights with 6+ and, even if there were, they wouldn't be using HMG.

No, they're not. LMGs are the ones that need to be nerfed a bit because of their ridiculously high crit chance. HMGs (and regular MGs) are fine where they are right now.

McGral showed that the LMG has the highest difference between anti-armor and critical damage (I think it was 3x), but I don't remember it being the actual true highest critical damage.

IMO, it does little dmg compared to other weapons, Ya'll are just complaining because you leave the anklebiters be while you face down heavies. Can't let them be.

More than 6 MGs on a Light is naturally OP, no need to even call it.

Spider only has 4MGs, so MGs can't be OP.

Id say its far from OP, but i do feel that the LMGs need a bit of a look at. The issue with the bloody things is that they reach to ~500m (with skills) and that critical damage has no falloff that i am aware of (LMG at 500m is just as likely to crit you out as it would be at point blank). That said, its more of a phychological weapon, and it finally gives a bit of a reason for assaults to bring rear armor (normally id never even consider more then 1 point, but ive switched to 5 rear on slow mechs just to be able to ignore 500m LMGs).

Other then LMGs, HMGs have terrible ammo/ton, worthless range, and are heavier then the rest making them meh at best (or rather extremely situational), while regular MGs have sorta nothing really going for em as range is still too pitiful to snipe/harass, and they dont exactly have the DPS of the HMG to compensate for a lack of range. Both of those are very much fair imo, as their high crits and good DPS is severely limited by range (and to use em you have to take the risk of being suceptible to just about any weapon in game). LMGs on the other hand, might not have that crazy DPS per gun, but when you have 6+ they stack up real fast, generate no heat, and can be used outside of brawling range, a little too much imo when you put it all together, but i do like the idea behind em, they just need to have some downsides besides uselessness at less then 4 guns...
