Very Simple...

Not allowing anymore MIXED type lasers fire groups!

This will force People to return at mixed weapon types Loadouts in many cases...

Maybe Alphas still possibles but at high penalties like almost entirely filling the heat bar.

Why stop there? Lets only make it so that only one weapon can be fired at a time.

...Your idea to make people want to mix weapon groups is to prevent mixed weapon groups from firing. Kay, got it.

I mean for example:

Group 1 = 3 Large Lasers (or More with current or revised penalties)
Group 2 = 6 Medium Lasers (or More with current or revised penalties)

Fired in sequence, not fired simultaneously in Alpha Strike without severe penalty

Just for Lasers Types, you eventually can mix lasers with other weapon types in the same group as it is now...

Or just auto-explode if they drop with a mech having more than 1 of any weapon.

We've been firing laser alphas since 1995.

Why do you think it should change now?

What is your desired goal? People firing crappier, less effective weapon groupings? Because then you're just going to complain about the second-best weapon grouping. And then the third. And so on until you've disallowed groupfire altogether.

This is the second thread I have seen attacking laser vomit. For the IS this may not be an issue, but let us be clear of the facts. Thanks to the unending tide of IS complaining, almost all of the clan weapons now have ghost heat attached. In some cases just stupid, like gauss/ppc, and some of our newer weapons add on even more heat to our builds. What your after OP is bracket builds to bring down the alpha damage. Guess what that is not a minor request, you are asking the devs to change the entire nature of the game. So here is few pointers, first do not face tank, second poke, and lastly be smart about where you move and when you move. Get those three down and your all evil laser vomit builds wont be slicing you up and down. Also on the clan side as always laser vomit already fills up our heat bar at a very fast pace. The side that can fire four or five ppcs at the same time with little to no heat, would be the IS side.

My point please learn the game before making a thread like this.

And the maximum pinpoint damage you can do is 20 with an AC20 or 25 with a Heavy Gaus and not 60, 80, 110 bcs Laserbundling or Weaponbundling does not work in TT and is not expected to be done by the rules so bcs all Mechwarrior games fail to replicate this limitation does not mean it is the right way to allow Superalphas to happen!

I think i've learned a lot 'cause i play since 2013, the gameplay is changed a lot, do not confuse gameplay countermeasures with balance...

Every weapon type has been limited so far in massive alphas, PPC & Ballistics first cause they generate pinpoint damage and massive critical hits, laser vomit is hitscan, take less time to aim but the skill is in perfectly track the hitbox you're aiming for,
you can still laservomit as you like but at the cost of little more facetime if you want discharge all your firepower... side effects will be in loadouts changes for many mechs that adds more variety at the game e more effectivness to older chassis with limited and mixed hardpoints... in time other aspects of the game will be inevitably revised as well

Personally I like the idea of reducing super-alphas regardless of how it is created be it lasers, missiles or ballistics.

because it will also prevent the doublevolleys of boated lasers to prevent ghost heat.

in 1999 you would explode trying to alpha the lasers MWO allows you.

Completely agree. Clan small lasers/ML have ghost heat together for a reason.

It is just dumb that you can alpha large/med lasers together for a easy 50+ point hitscan alpha. And 50 is the lower end of the laser vomit scale.

We need more mixed builds, rather than laser vomit/UAC spam depending on how hot the map is.

On cold/neutral maps almost every mech in the first three waves is laser vomit. That is just sad. Its like playing chess and everyone just spams queens, although people occasionally bring rooks.

But more needs to be done to discourage laser vomit because people still bring 5x LPL/ERLL at the moment, and that already has ghost heat.

Good luck convincing PGI to lift a finger though.

The Problem is not and will never be the high alphas...
The Problem is and will always stay the lurm potatoes standing in the back and not sharing armor!
