2 HPPC is actually slightly cooler than a 2 ERPPC build on my king crab, which to me is kind crazy.

IS ERPPCS have obscene range to top it off, which i find kinda nuts.

yes CERPPC is pretty much garbage now (although still better than a lot of other clan weapons). You have to take a targeting computer just to get its velocity to where it should be. Which makes the CERPPC actually weigh more tonnage and take up more crits than the ISERPPC.

the splash damage disappears into thin air half the time which makes it not worth the heat. theres a reason clans prefer laser vomit its because the damage doesnt vanish into thin air for no good reason.

They really need to fix the splash damage on the CERPPC so headshots, armshots, legshots, etc... still do the full 5 splash damage.

CERPPC also needs to be ghost heat limit of 3 so it can match HPPC for pinpoint damage. The splash damage just isnt reliable or good enough to keep it at ghost heat limit of 2.

PPC/ERPPC/SNPPC should all be ghost heat limit of 3 too. And the awful min range on PPCs needs to be changed to exponential dropoff at the very least.

Nope. hppc sucks even with 56% velocity buff. Even if I could aim it would still suck due to the high heat and long cool down vs any of the lasers is have. What a shame the K2 gets at most 35% velocity buff while one of the adrs gets 45% velocity buff plus all the space for extra hs to fire erppc more.

You know, I saw this thread and on a whim i rolled a x2 HPPC and a AC20 on a marauder with a 250 light and 13DHS

It was pretty decent

I like the Heavy PPC. I'm using two on my Jester (with 4 MLasers on backup) and it has ended up on a couple other builds too (including one on my sniper Phoenix Hawk).

Its a good weapon, I'm happy with it.

Hmm...Well I've got HPPCs on a few 'mechs. Got a Roughneck that just boats 2 to abuse its high hardpoints with. I haven't been playing those mechs since the last patch, so I was unaware the cooldown had gone up.

I guess it shows how not-hardcore I am. I thought they were pretty decent. Hard to keep cool, as has been said, but 15 PPFLD is always good in this game.

Yes i was on my Catapult K2 it worked ok with dual Heavy PPC but the cool down is too long and heat is too much for the damage out put, the er ppc or snub ppc is better as you can fire it faster so it does more damage...

HPPC isn't really designed for those exact situations, though. The ERPPC shares a somewhat similar use profile, but more generalized. The HPPC is really just made for quick snapshots, either from cover or preferably as a poptarting gun on something like a Grasshopper. You poptart, you move, you poptart, you move. The move time allows for additional heat venting while the extra damage, assuming you can aim well, means the shots you do take are more meaningful in terms of killing an opponent. It's still not a top tier weapon by any means, in part due to the fact IS mechs have so much less space and tonnage to add heat sinks with, but it can carve out a niche. As for the snub... not sure why you're getting it involved. It's meant for a totally different role.

The minimum range is a big enough draw back to HPPCs. Not sure why they nerfed them. I hardly see them on the battle field. I see way more heavy gauss rifles. IS PPCs in general are few and far between.

Because PPC's are a high skill floor weapon system... If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they are the hardest weapon to master.

IIRC, the 4+.5 seconds is the same as firing a gauss. Despite being hotter and having lower velocity, I think at 5 tons less ( and about 2 tons of ammo, so spend those on heatsinks) a HPPC is a competive weapon.

I don’t see the complaints about the velocity. It’s slightly higher than AC10 velocity,

They require no more skill to hit with than an ac10. The problem is they are very hot and heavy, and IS mechs cant really add many DHS to manage that heat (16-20 DHS if you are really trying to put as many as possible on an IS mech) this really limits what you can use.

I love running 2x H-PPC and 4x ERSLs on my Jester. It's been a vicious fighter in every match I've run it in. Admittedly I haven't been running my IS account as much of late (well, haven't played heavily in a while, period for reasons), but when I do, those H-PPCs are absolutely wicked!

They're a good option for builds. Though the weight and heat limit them. I like the variety. I find that I wish light PPCs either had less heat or a lower cooldown. They're kind eh.

I'd be fine with both if the ghost heat cap was higher. Can't make that 4th (or 5th or 6th) L-PPC work on my RFL-5D builds....

2 HPPCs and 4 mgs + 2 ML on my legendkiller does real work. I enjoy it.

I used to do it before. However, I switched to ER PPCs.
They travel really fast.
They have no min range.
In fact, it feels good to win the brawl in XL BJ-3 with a slap of dual ER PPCs from the start and slicing through the rest with extremely heat efficient SPLs.

How does that match up to doing the same in the WHM 6R?
