there is a "Claim" button right when you open the event browser in the Luthien event line. It's not logical but its there.

And a bonus middle finger for never bothering to acknowledge the EIGHT full-length Invasion matches I played at the beginning of the event, before you debugged it.

With that announced tie ending we did neither achieve a win nor a loss, which is very unsatisfactoy.

A PYRRHIC VICTORY IS NOT A TIE GIVE THE IS PILOTS THEIR MAULER

Looking at the historical war conflict data, there were a lot of Clan wins and also a lot of ties, I didn't notice many (if any) IS wins at all. However the Clan or IS wins needed to be for planets on the list of 20 selected planets for this conflict. You can only vote for a planet if you are a Loyalist. Perhaps the planets needed for for a decisive victory were not voted upon, or there was grid lock and a lot of back and forth over the planets.
The end result at the end of the event is that neither Clans, nor IS factions were able to control 77% of the conflict planets, so the result was a draw, which was counted as a loss for both sides.
The event functioned as intended. It was great to be able to run scouting matches to get your match requirements in, in addition to being able to run longer form FP matches. I would recommend that more information be added into the description of the event in game to specifically state, "Clans or IS must control 77% of the 20 planets (15.4 or 16 planets) for this conflict at the end of this event to be considered the winning Faction." Then clearly label the planets on the event page in game as either under Clan control or IS control. Conflict planets could also be high-lighted with golden borders or stars in front of the planet name on the Loyalist voting screen. More clarification in the event rules and goals could be stated to stress that it's important to vote as a loyalist for the conflict planets in order to arrest control of the needed sectors for total victory at the end of the event.
Again, this was a nice event, if you completed all 12 matches (scouting or FP) with a minimum match score of 150 or more, you netted a total bonus of 10M c-bills and 1-mech bay for about two to six hours of game play time (not to mention all the earnings from each completed mission). This is a good reward and can be used to buy most mechs available in the MWO store at full price outright, or as a 10M off coupon for the assault and XL engine of your choice.
Pilots are bummed that they didn't get a win and didn't get a free mech and mech bay, but total victory cannot be declared for either side when neither controls the majority of the conflict planets required for total victory. Hopefully, next special event, every pilot will pay closer attention to the win conditions and fight furiously for majority control over the contested planets.

Exactly, i have every Mech i want and i don´t need the free stuff. But doing this events should be fun and not frustrating and getting the consolation prize IS frustrating.
So give the Clans their Mech for beating the Sh*t out of the Freebirth or give the Mech to the IS for kicking us from their Planet at the last second.

Just my two cents, worth no more or less than anyone else's.
Edit:
Forgot to add how much I enjoyed seeing both aspects of Factional Warfare at play, along with the multiple of rewards (tiers) and the "win even if you lose" rewards. I think this was a great way to structure events, and hope it is mirrored in the future. The increasing C-Bills rewards, the win/loss rewards, and the extra Faction cosmetics were all great. Hopefully in the future, if it's not tied to specific a House/Clan, we can have some generic Inner Sphere vs Clan cosmetics available. Also, the "pick your reward" of past events was very neat, although I wouldn't mind if the reward tiers were slightly easier to accomplish for those of us with limited time to play. Rewards should be meaningful, but I think this Event shows that meaningful rewards with moderate requirements can actually spur more involvement, not less. Thanks again PGI for another fun event. I look forward to all future content.

Just like lore-wise, Clans was unfamiliar with "real" warfare, and, while wining the "honorable" fights against IS mech units, was unable to capture the sector, cause of guerilla+military efforts, and dedicated actions of civilians, who stood brave against invaders, even when IS former mechwarriors fought against IS.
PGI lose, but Bttletech wins

Somegood FP games, although we shouldn't be doing QP, (especially the smallest maps)
Next FP event, only allow grouped players to participate in the prices.
And animate the events, have some (loyalist/merc) units from each server location involved

Give IS their Mauler. They deserve it after that asswhopping of an event.

Actually in Olympic events if there is a tie for the top, as far as I know both athletes receive a gold medal and the next highest gets a bronze (with the silver being skipped). In just about every other sport I can think of a tie results in the victory "points" being shared and is not considered as a loss for either team.

Bruv, that's not how Faction Play works.
All planets in a given conflict are fought over as a whole, half of them are Clan controlled, and half of them are IS controlled. If one side pushes the Tug of War bar over to the capture zone and it stays there until the end of the conflict, then the planets of their opponent will flip to their control for the next phase.
There is no planet-by-planet conquering. You can get your unit tag to fly above a planet by being one of the top four most valuable units, but that has nothing to do with deciding the win-loss conditions.
If you don't believe me, here are the patch notes that describe this in detail.

I stand corrected. Thank you for that information. Either way, I am happy with the results, and probably would prefer the C-Bills to a Mech I already have (and never play). That's just me though. To each his or her own.

Okay, so, For those uninterested in Lore, in the actual battle for Luthien, the IS decided their goal was to keep the fight from ever entering the capitol because they knew it'd end in a blood bath. So..

So, the city is in ruins, it's people lie dead in droves as they had to join the battle themselves to keep the Clans at bay, IS fail. Sure, Luthien is still held by the Combine, so Clan fail. Think of all the machines and lives thrown away to just keep the status quo. No one winning is a classic theme in war, and this is a war game. For me, I think this went excellently.
