Huh. Opening up Sarna because I was curious as to whether the "1 and 2" which are NOT canon Omnimech designations were canon units.... Turns out the Battlemech and Omnimech versions are n the same page of Sarna.net and count as the same mech. Variant 1 and 2 are Battlemechs. Prime, A, and not-available J are Omnimechs. The P and BloodKit, made up for MWO, are an Omni (P) and a Battlemech (BloodKit)
Looks like PGI actually tried here.
....A shame there isn't something that openly states while in the store or mechlab "Omnimech" or "Battlemech" to avoid confusion.
(Just wish they tried as hard with the animations, the cut and past stuff isn't working due to extra joints.)

The only way to see it atm I know is looking at the max engine rating. If there is anything but "-" then they are Battlemechs. If there is "-" then they are omnis... worked until now at least.

And the numbers were off. But the HERO Bloodkit is showing up as a Battle Mech.

From the store page right on the website.
If you look at the variants listed and their "hardpoints", you will see that three have "Omnipods" and three have "Hardpoints". So it was mentioned, along with the stated "max engine cap" also listed on the three battlemech versions.

Yes, even I found it after a while, but not without going to Smurfy's. And I would not call that "being clear" on them. This game is horrible about stating facts.

Agreed with that one. Would be nice to have a bit more "Clan" and "IS"; and "battlemech" and "Omnimech" clarifications in the game itself. Sometimes it's hard to explain to someone that the mech they just bought is a Clan mech, and can't be used for the IS Drop Deck in FP... At least not till it is bought and you can sort by IS/Clan type...
