It does indeed appear that Matt Newman (and maybe Bobby Jubraj as well? I can't be certain of that, yet would like to think they have not been involved) happens to be acting a heck of a lot more like Darth Vader than Luke Skywalker. I started with a Rating of 9.2/10, and mentioned only one thing really needing fixing. While a different item was changed and fixed, making me hopeful and pushing to a possible Rating of 9.5/10, the page which had indicating wording of more time was altered to not show that time. That action actively reduced the Rating back to 9.0/10, and now I've tried to enter the Faction Warfare Scouting Queue. I've been sitting here about 15 minutes now (increasing while I type this) without a match, and can confirm that Faction Warfare has indeed come to a halt. This runs the odds of ever completing this Event and reaching the Grand Prize (as well as at least one of the Challenge Tracker Completion Prizes) to absolute zero, forcing a major re-evaluation in how I would have Reviewed this Event.
At the same time, I must blame the MWO Community for not keeping up on the Website News, and not being capable of communicating and connecting with each other. I must further blame the MWO Community for various forms of whining and stigmas that they shove on others which have resulted in certain unnecessary nerfs all around to Mechs, Quirks, Weaponry, and so forth. Instead, certain buffs and armor value boosting should have happened, but everything going the opposite direction of this has resulted in underlying long-term damage to MWO. On top of this, I could theorize that now something has happened to our 'Luke Skywalker'-like, Friendly Event Writer, Matt Newman... It seems like someone has kidnapped, and replaced them with a 'Darth Vader'-like Evil Clone. I don't like where things are going, but it's not simply my opinion that matters. It's the facts that matter, and right now, I'm looking at having to hammer the Event Review Rating in the extreme. Until I make note again of a change, I'm dropping it to...
4.2/10
...as this seems a fitting number, what with the ability to be a really bad pun (From "HitchHikers' Guide To The Galaxy", yes...) and all. While the Event Design seemed excellent, the Enhancements to the Grand Prize Options were something I could greatly appreciate, and I originally thought this all possible to be done, the following factors have massively damaged things...
- Lack of the 12th Day for the Event Time Allocation, even with initial indications that there should have been one
- Deadness like a zombie of the Faction Warfare Buckets due to lack of Community Willingness on the first 24 Hours to just get in there
- I just sat in Scouting Queue for 30 minutes, only to get a Ghost Drop, and No Loot Bag in response for my massive time loss
- Total inability to score on at least 3 of the Multi-Part Event Challenge Sections, and all at the same time
- Complete crash-down of ability to gain certain series of prizes, even if willing to put the effort in, to absolute zero
- Complete pre-denial of the Grand Prize, because of all above factors
- Complete recognition of the fact that most of the Community will never have a chance, all because of issues well beyond a single individual's control
- Effective 'Difficulty Wall', with how the Event now looks like an insurmountable wall

(p.s.: Apologies to the Entire MWO Community, and PGI's Staff as well... Even though I'm actively stifling my "Volcano Mode", I think I have probably made everyone feel alienated with this post. While there's not much I can do about needing to get frustration out of my psyche before it made me into something worse in Real Life, something had to be said about how wrong this Event has gone. At least, in comparison to what I originally saw its' design to be, which looked beautiful. Hopefully, the info here will still be useful toward producing better Events in the future.)

not alienated at all, it will be interesting to see if it works during north america peak time, if not then the event is dead after all. Perhaps 2 bucket is vs is and clan vs clan would have been better. until then i'll get what i can out of the qp and any scoutning that pops and if we are lucky maybe some random invasion drops, fingers crossed. The population may be small but this is actually my favourite game so heres hoping things pick up.......

Also, moving to Liao bandits from Marik defenders shoud be done in one click without any penalties. People would like it.

last cw event was 1 bucket of ~5k vs ~5k players
now we have 6 buckets of ~800 vs ~800 players
spread over all time zones worldwide and the whole event duration
Unfortunately the number of active players are uneven for the factions....
Player Numbers from Battle for Luthian and pairing for trick or treat....
Good luck everybody getting 150matches.
I expect a fix not later than Monday.
Seems like my prediction came true. Jman5 did the numbers and the conclusion was obvious. All the comments in this thread appear to confirm that unfortunately.
The really sad part is, that could have easily been avoided if PGI would have used the right data for planning the event. It is not that difficult. It is a repeating pattern. No matter if we look at balancing tech and weapons regarding influence on meta, or game design decisions like introducing skilltree, there seems to be a lack of understanding what kind of decisions would influence the customer experience in a positive way. Unfortunately they keep sabotaging their own product.

I hate being harsh, but that's one more hit to the Event Review Rating now...
3.3/10
...on the fact of confusion through broken functionality.

I believe your rating is still to high. 3.3 would mean that it might not be a good event, but it is functioning, so basicly below average.
But the point is, the whole design of the event is flawed to a degree, that it is actually impossible for anybody to participate properly, not even mentioning to finish the event.

so join quick play until the event changes announced by pgi are online.

Also encountered my first ******** who is trolling for loot bags and not actually playing the mode for the overall goal. We had intel gathering and he just wants to shoot, get his match score and move onto the next match. No concern about swinging the intel bar for those souls actually trying to play invasion matches. I may NOT ever do FW outside of events, but when I do, I don't troll just for event prizes. If I'm in an intel gather match...i am going to gather intel. If I'm in an invasion conquest...i'm going to try and get some capping done. If I'm stuck with an invasion domination and I happened to start with a fast mech, I will race to the pee stain even though I despise domination matches.

Sounds like you played with a guy named Igor something, just sits at the back in a erML Nova, doesn't share any armour and snipes.
My next encounter with that, may possibly lead to me dropping an arti-strike right on his spineless ***.

pls KEEP the "civil war" theme. infighting looks like it could be the most fun I had in a while in this game - that is, if I could get such a game.
minimise the buckets maybe so this can work. we can do the usual invasion all-time, I was looking forward for this. pls don't roll back entirely because ..ppl.
-fewer buckets in fw
-options do do more qp/fw (still cap at 150 together), so ppl are free to play what they feel like.

This. Last night I had to walk away I was so disgusted by the entire game (long queue times, horrible players, etc.) After sleeping off a rough day (after a rough week), however, I have to admit it was a valiant effort. I was truly looking forward to this event when I saw it pop up in the Event Browser in game (before it was announced on the web), and still am. It's had an extremely rough start that has deeply frustrated the player base, but that doesn't change the fact a large number of players were looking forward to this event on announcement. The heart was in the right place, for sure - I just don't think they anticipated such a low player turnout. Honestly though, they have the numbers of players - they didn't create this event in a vacuum. I really think it's a turnout issue more than just a population issue, although the net result is the same.
Appreciate the creativity and effort Matt, and looking forward to finishing this event once it gets adjusted.
