isnt that what PGIs been doing. they killed small lasers. last patch was the start of killing medium lasers. next patch will probably finish them off.

Next patch will revert lasers back to the MechWarrior 2 era where they were all pew-pew projectile weapons.

Another idea would be to have strikes be strategic assets for each team. Along with other strategic assets like satillite scans, ammo resupplies, etc... each time you deployed a strategic asset it would cost you a strategic asset point and each team might be limited to say 5-6 points per game. The points could even recharge when certain objectives are achieved. For example, destroying one of the mobile field bases on domination might give you back 1 strategic asset point.

And if you wanted to use a strategic asset, the commanders and lance leaders would have to give permission for players on the team to use it. Like when you requested to use it theyd have to press a key to authorize its use.

Each mech could also carry one strike (but not two) as a consumable too. That would cut down on the strike spam and add more strategic level stuff for commanders/lance leaders to do.

Tbh, I love using strikes... but I'd happily give them up for this idea. If only....

They are, unless they spend several valuable skill points to unlock the ability to carry 2 of them.

Those SP perks are what have turned this place into air strike warrior in the civil war area.. All the new skills are the problem with them now and why they are being overused..

Too many strikes, still. Whether or not one can avoid them is useless knowledge. The fact that they are still NEAR spammable is ridiculous.

I like the idea of building them into the map objective, even skirmish in some way.

OK, this is another good idea: along with about a dozen oether good ideas. And, No one is listening at PGI.

The problem is, the "brawling" crowd wants to simplify the game and remove 'anything' that complicates open brawling: i.e. Streaks, LRM's, ATM/MM's, and especially, Strikes because it ruins deathballs, NASCAR's and the 'me see, me kill !' mentality.

The brawlers have been nick-named: Grundy's..... (new player humor and we think their mechs must be painted a pasty off-white color).

If "Rock-and-Sock'm-Robots", in a small arena, is all the Grundy community wants, well, that will be short lived and unprofitable to PGI because they can't sell mech packs what have nothing to so with brawling, now can they??? And, if they focus on Arena mech packs, you end up in the "is OP then nerf'd" cycle and that won't work either...

You suggestion is another great idea but is stalled on the concept of balanced teams via-a'-vis Grundy's.....
