Just looks at the scale comparisons and I want to know what PGI is smoking becuase it is obvious something is way, way off. The Thanatos makes the Night Gyr looks like a medium mech in comparison. It is about the same height but everything is thicker from the front profile and from the side profile there is even more of a huge difference, hell it is at least twice as thick from the side as any of the other mechs it is compared against.

Seriously someone hit the bottle quite hard before they "volumetrically" scaled the Thantos so all I got to say is....

PGI, YOU GOT 4 DAYS TO GET THIS THING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND SCALED CORRECTLY!!!

It's the magic of volumetric scaling. Boxy things take up much higher surface area than curvy/circular things of the same volume.

We tried to warn you guys about the consequences...

Err, meets my expectations...i mean...even the concept pics told a story of a big blocky fat mech.
And the thing is pretty much spot on from the concept art.

I bet it'll come out of the gate quirked pretty good. Not sure what you're suppose to do with those giant torsos there except get them blown off immediately.

Tempted to buy it because it'll be challenging to figure out how to play. I like the way it looks TBH...functionally, not so much.

So, anybody think they will get as generous Structure or Armor quirks as either the BK or Orion now seeing how they compare.

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Oh, I just made myself laugh so hard. I mean they can’t because it has ECM. OP!!!!!!

Can’t wait for the stats. Calling it! 60 degree torso twist!

If it weren't for the annual rewards mechs dropping the same day, i'd be playing 75 tonners exclusively just to mock how fat the Thanatos is in comparison. Granted i knew this was going to happen, but god damn those are some thicc legs and juicy sides to hit at just about every angle. Don't run stock XLs kids, that thing is a walking death trap.

Glad i went for a fast medium (Hellspawn) instead of this!.

Edit: Thanny needs to lay off the cheesy poofs, it's like the Eric Cartman of mechs.

What were you expecting? Skinny Thanatos? The damned thing is supposed to be like that. Can't see why some of you are complaining about a mech that looks pretty similar to the original.

I'd be de-ST'ng more of them on the 14th except... oathbringer drops on the same day... I has 1000 pages to read!

The Hellspawn is going a hitbox nightmare of its own, not sure I'd use it to disparage the Thanatos just yet.

Looks fine for a 75 tonner.

and?

Sorry if it messes with the metalords, but I have no issues with some degree of standardization.

The size is right overall, your eyes are deceiving you because the STs are too wide and CT too narrow. They do volume on the whole thing, but not the individual components. The STs take up twice the right amount of volume and the CT half the right amount...

Just means if this doesn't get any defensive quirks might be tough to play. With those perky side torsos.

It might be like the orion IIC - wide torsos, small CT.

The be honest, when I first looked at the front profile, I was like yeah that is about right but when I looked at the side profile I was like, "Huh? Wait a minute...the Thanatos has twice the side profile of any of the other mechs pictured.

I mean look at the Orion which has the most similar body type to the Thanatos. From the frontal profile it is obvious it has much more bulk through the torso area especially in the area just above the waist. The Orion makes a "V" down to the waist, the Thanatos is just a big box. That right there is a huge amount of volume. Then when you look at the side profile back to front there is easily twice as much bulk on the Thanatos and that is when I went, "Nope, no way in hell". The Orion is a skosh taller so some of the bulk can be account for there but that only account for about the amount of width we see at the waist area on the Tanatos. The front to rear bulk however is not accounted for therefore the mech overall should just be about 10-15% smaller than it is.

But hey if you all don't see the problem, I can't expect PGI to so guess we are just going to get an oversized Tanatos. Lets hope it gets quirked to compensate.
