So in reality you didn't play any at all and are just claiming to have done something...

Are you kidding me ? I play this game since closed beta and the FP-Events are getting worse each time.
Two years ago those "challanges" were hard but you were able to make them even as a working father of two children. Now i have to decide: MWO or my family and my work.
There is no way to complete even one of the goals with a fulltimejob and a family. Gladfully i am on vacation in the eventtime so i could do those quickplays.

It is not the price i am whining about. I don´t need this mechs.
It´s the fact that i loose my will to play a game that i really like and that the only "challanges" or "goals" in this game are the events and PGI is killing this with unrealistic parameters.

How should a new gamer in this game have fun when a hugh Battletech-nerd like me isn´t able to feel fun.
MWO is dying and PGI does nothing to stop that. They make it even worse.

I have played this game since closed beta as well and I also have a "full" life, but I do not have a problem with the way PGI handled the events this year. Yes, some of the events required far more time, than I was able to dedicate to playing MWO, so I just did not bother with those events, but there were plenty of events that only required less than an hour a day to complete and I did do those. For example, I realize, that I will probably not be able to play enough games to get the 200 stockings and the free Mech in the Stocking Stuffer event, so I am not focused on that, but I am liking the free stuff that I am getting from the stockings that I am able to earn. Also, the Holiday Loadout event was an event that even the busiest MWO player could complete in less than an hour and the reward was probably the biggest reward of any MWO event. So really, it is best just to have prospective and to not obsess about whether or not you will be able to complete every event, after all, this is a game and a game should be fun.

Finally, I am tired of hearing and reading statements from veteran players who lament the plight of the "new player", please just let these people play the game and draw their own conclusions. All the "it's to hard for new players" stuff just makes prospective players less likely to try the game.

An hour ? Fifteen minutes. The time to play 1 QP match.

My experience:
-Login to MWO after a multi month absence to get back into the swing of things
-Find out that I missed the huge giveaway by hours.
-Rage quit MWO, probably for another long time.

I'm pretty sure that was not the intended effect of the event, but I can't help but feel extremely irritated. I would have actually felt much better if there was some sort of harder goal, like win 10 matches or something, but with it being essentially just a login window that I missed all I can feel is pissed off.

So it seems to me that there are a few players here who only play MWO for the events. I always thought that the events were just an addition to the game itself and not the game in and of itself, but then I have been playing since before there were events in the game.

I play all the time. I was away for a week with my family. I get penalized for not cutting my trip short. Not very festive. I dont post on the boards very often but these 2017 holiday events were poorly executed.

125 Stocking Stuffers
4.4m cbills
16 cockpit items (managed to get everything including Krampus and XMas Bell!)
16 MC consumables (640k in cbill savings so why not?)
4,400 GXP
575 MC
5 days PT

Not a bad haul. Thanks PGI!

If I compared this with my Trick or Treat results, where I had 250 clicks, the T-or-T event was more generous overall if you halve the results:

250 loot bags
6.9875m cbills
25 cockpit items
34 MC consumables (1.36m in cbill savings)
12,300 GXP
1,465 MC
12 days PT

Between T-or-T, 24 Advent Challenges, Stocking Stuffer and the Holiday Bonus, there's enough MC to buy 1-2 hero mechs, 3 even if you buy lights. My Deathstrike ended up being free since I amassed way more than 4050 MC! Thanks again PGI!

The 250-point FW Requirements are stupid. They pretty much force people to derp out with SSRMs to farm damage instead of playing intelligently, instead of using aSRMs/Lasers to snipe legs/CTs.

Lower it to 150 and folks would be able to get it fairly consistently if they play well, even when their team loses.

I think the 250 is OK, but forcing us to do so many games to get the final prize sucks as it takes A LOT of time, to the point it's ridiculous.
If we had to do 20-25 lootbags less for the final prize - I think this would be less stressful.

This also should be a rule of thumb for this kind of events. You can do X amount of unlocks / lootbags / things, but you get the top prize at X-y%. With the numbers set reasonably it allows to work for your prize, get it and there's a little more for those that could do it faster (because they have more time or skill).

Impossible (for most) to complete in time the 50 FP required to get prizes unless you can stay many hours each day. Very long waiting time to even start a match also.

Love the event part that is designed to discourage people from ever trying faction play again.

Which is why those of us who played those events before farm their score in Scouting using splatvomit builds instead of doing Invasion.

Think about what you said for a moment. Because you got burned out on the game and don't enjoy it any more, nobody else should be able to enjoy it either?
That level of resentment and anger is not healthy to have. Try to appreciate the game for the simple fun of outfitting and blowing up giant mecha, not for events.

A word of advice. If you're going into Scouting as Clan and are aiming to farm damage with splat builds, be aware that there are some Clan players now farming Scouting who will field ranged builds and strongly defend their right to do so, letting their teammates die fast, and the ranged light is the only 1 with min 250 MS as he slowly farms legs and gets 600 MS and 4 kills at the end. Or machine gun lights who hang back and wait till the enemy has softened up then dive in for the MG kills using their team mates as shields.

So if you don't want to be doubly-frustrated, set up your 2 Scouting decks one with a ranged mech and one with a splat mech. If someone fields an Ice Ferret or Shadowcat, you can bet they are laser builds, then switch accordingly. If Cheetah or Lynx, MG with lasers.

Go in prepared and u'll be fine. Otherwise u're fighting "two enemies".

You guys just don't get it. The intention is to increase invasion population, not the scouting one. Thus we have such a high matchscore requirement.
Spoiler

As I see it, there might be an inherited problem in PGI's tracking system, otherwise we would have had "get 5 assists" + "150 matchscore" per match requirements that are both easily achieved in invasion and exclude scouting.

But prizes are garbage. These decals are duplicates of those you got from daily events. And the mechs are all c-bill variants that can be easily bought if needed. Thus there should be no hard feelings if you miss on a loot bag or two.

That is not very constructive. Tell us what exactly is wrong and how would you fix it. Or tell us how would you design an event that would encourage people to play invasion, thus rising its population, increasing diversity, reducing waiting times and making everybody happy.
Otherwise one might assume we have the best possible event that could be done with the tools PGI have at their disposal.

And those clan players aren't wrong - IS SRM/SSRM splat builds are brutal up close but lack range, so if you have a mech that can keep them at distance and fight while they're unable to put their weapons to use, you will dictate the terms of engagement.

Another thing you'll want to note is that Clan SSRMs have a 25% greater range than IS equivalents. If you can use that range advantage to stay in the 300-360m range band, you can spam your own streaks with relative impunity from enemy streakboats.

Suggestion for future "loot bag" events: give supply cache keys as possible loot, in addition to all the other stuff (GXP, consumables, etc.).
