Thinking you're above being in matches with people because you're good at the game is elitism.
Elitism = Snobbery.
A guy running head first in the enemy team at the start of every match in a fast mech or the guy hiding in the back with LRMs in a SNV A that doesn't help the team when they need to is frustrating.
But I'm a tier 2 founder with 10,000 games and I don't do that.
My aim isn't great.
My builds aren't amazing.
My mech choices aren't great.
My computer is old as ****.
My monitor is small.
My eyesight is poor.
My excuses are vast.
But I try.
I listen to people when they say things in comms. I read what people type. I stick with the team and push when people say to push, often dying first in an assault mech in solo queue after soaking up all the damage I could and dishing out as much as possible.
And I don't deserve to breathe the same air as everyone else because I haven't yet floated to the top? You know what else floats to the top?
If you think that wanting to be matched up in a game with people at a similar skill level to your own is elitism, no amount of looking up definitions is going to be able to help you.
Elitism would be saying if you are not tier 1 you should uninstall.
I have some of your same excuses though as well as a few of my own;
I am old
Vision going
Had some serious health issuse and the treatment made me sick, shaky, and weak
I am a monstereous sized fella with the fine motor skills you'd expect from a giant
See above and consider my reflexes are probably lower than average
Like you however I try. I actually put effort into improving. After playing for a couple of years, it is also safe to say that I have aquired muscle memory and my experience helps a lot to make up for my lack of reflex. I also sought out and play with people much, much better than I am. I have benefitted much more from playing with them, then they have with me.
So I have no interest in playing against people that are not challenging. I don't want to play with folks who continually do dumb things and not learn and grow from them. Although I love seeing some of the big and well known names, and the challenge it represents to me, I can understand if guys like Proton don't want to be saddled with a patato like me.
This is not elitism. Stretching the definition as you have is similar to screaming ****. It's easy throw out these kind of terms, and quite common these days. No one really wants to labelled an elitist, and you can throw this kind of nonsense into a discussion and derail people's opinion or point by it.
Arguing this way however is low. You are basically name calling and shaming. Seems awfully silly for an adult to be doing to other adults. Really hard to have respect for you if this is how you think it is ok to operate.
